District 42-Chapter 228: Blacksmith part 1
Vick kept staring at the White warrior and trying to think in a way in which she could convince him to not do so. However, a more serious part of her was constantly shouting at her to let him do what he needed to do.
The Princess put Casper into that situation with her decision to make him enter the Sgails. Casper had his responsibilities, and he was a skillful person, so it was obvious that Leonel would keep an eye on him. She was sure that Thor was already paying attention too.
Casper went to his first mission without using any technologies. There were some tools they gave to him, but in the end, he didn’t make use of any of them, which made they notice even more his competence.
Also, Leonel had said before to Vick that, to be sure that the White warrior was as good as they claimed he was, he would be sending him to a mission without any high-ranked technology to help him.
In the end, he could pull through very well, which made that the Sgails acquired certain respect for him.
She was aware of all these points. Vick was keeping an eye on the White warrior just like she was his mother. Casper was one of the major reasons for her lack of sleep.
’Anyway, I can’t let him do something idiot like this. The thing here is not just emotional. I have my own feelings for him, but if it was just it, I could give the title of Princess to another aleatory woman and she would be better than me
’The thing here is that Casper can’t die because his power is something that District 42 needs. it’s my duty as a future leader of this district to keep him with us, so we can use his power for what we need. My father wants him alive as well. That’s why I can’t let him take this risk!’
The Princess looked to the sides, trying to simulate her most frustrated and pleading eyes. She looked at Casper, forcefully maintaining her hand attached to his.
"Please, Casper, you need to understand my reasons as well! I know that you turning into a Sgail was my decision as well, but that’s way further than I would expect you to go. I don’t want you to put your life at stake, even though you have your reasons for this!"
Since the Princess didn’t want the soldier to know what her real motivations were, she needed to act more like a passionate teenager than a leader. However, it was difficult to persuade him in that state.
"Hey, Vick, I am a soldier now. Soon or later, it would happen. The Sgails are getting less and less numerous, the troops are already reduced, no Ridire wants to take their places, and the Aesirs are doing their job. Willing or not, even if I don’t pursue the matter, Leonel will ask me to go to the main troops. You are aware of it, aren’t you? Don’t you think it’s time to reason as the cold Princess you are and not the real Vick?"
She got caught by that affirmation and didn’t know what to do anymore. If she started to be like her usual self, Casper would grasp what was going on.
’Dang! I think I will need to let go of this matter. If I keep being pushy like this he can get the wrong idea, or then start to be suspicious of me. I can’t pretend to be an annoying and dumb teenager forever either. It’s better to let it go. I will need to talk to Leonel and Thor some time, they don’t know much about Casper’s power, but I need to put a collar on those two."
After one more moment of hesitation, she pushed him, starting to walk again. People were passing by already and as always they got too absorbed in their own things to notice it.
"I will do as you please." She said, finally.
The soldier waited for her to walk some more steps in front to finally start to follow her.
During that discussion, Vick wasn’t the only one that was reasoning logically.
’Does this woman is so concerned about me as she showed to be now, or is there something more behind it?’ He narrowed his eyes. ’I need to keep an eye on the Princess, as always...’
This way, they went to a Teleporting pad heading to somewhere that Vick didn’t say to Casper where it was.
...
They appeared in front of huge construction. Casper had visited that place once, in a little stroll he was making through some floors of the Castle.
The big industries, companies, and enterprises of the Jarl families were always made into the cities.
Casper, at some point, believed that there would be a floor destined just for this kind of construction, but they gathered everything together.
Although it can seem a bit messed in a certain way, the result was better than expected; interesting cities, just like Uppsala, were born just like this.
District 42 had technology and techniques enough to make big industries without polluting the environment. They had ways to clean entire rivers and even the air.
However, it costed money, so it was only made inside the Castle. Outside... the scene wasn’t the better you could find. It was just another point showing how the good things of the district were concentrated just in the elite and no one more.
"Thank you." For a moment, Casper thought that Vick would bring him to a prison or something, to prevent him to do something reckless, but she didn’t. He thanked her unintentionally.
The said just cast a cautious look at him, filled with suspicion as well, but didn’t seem to have the will to go any further on their discussion.
Casper knew that Vick didn’t like to lose and if she was already retrieving because of such a thing, then something was wrong there.
’This silly Princess is probably trying to get me off guard, or finding another way around to block me. Good luck for her, hehe.’
The confidence of the soldier was totally refilled after his time at the Sgail’s Headquarters and the hellish training they had. Also, his success with Yanke was something that got him more excited.
The two of them approached the big double doors of that industry, which had almost five meters tall.
’That’s kind of an honor. I am going to enter into the industry of one of the most prestigious Jarl families of the district! I wonder how it will go.’ Casper was excited about the outcome of that meeting.
"So, you are planning to get a weapon to you..." The Princess commented, breaking the silence while the doors opened slowly in front of them.
"Well, yeah. I still can’t understand why the Sgails don’t give some cool equipment like theirs. All they did was give me a Savior and an exoskeleton to my legs, nothing more." He complained.
The doors finished to open and they entered there.
Vick then started to explain to him.
"Well, there is a tradition among our warriors, you know? It comes from the city guards to the Ridires, Sgails, until the Aesirs.
"The tradition says that your mind and soul must be attached to the weapon you have, so you can protect people with dignity. For this sake, you need personally come to ask a Blacksmith or a scientist to do it for you, in detail."
As always, their culture dictated a good part of what they decided there.
Even the most dumbs things, mainly in warriors trying to have their honor and fight until death into the battlefield.
"In short, the weapons need to be exclusively yours. However, it will depend as well whether the Blacksmith we get will like you or not, or will be in a good mood. I can’t afford to get too many weapons as well, so be content with what you get!"
Casper had some basic knowledge of Blacksmiths himself. He knew that it was a valued profession. They were people that not only could build the structure of guns and accessories, but they have a higher aptitude for manipulating Indigo Energy and make it work properly on those weapons.
After all, Indigo was very unstable. If not used correctly, it could end up in a mess.
One example of what happened when you tried to use it in unorthodox ways was the explosion that killed Sionnach.
That was a kind of energy that was out of the natural concept and laws. Those Blacksmiths were so prestigious because of it: they could look at that Energy and use it as they pleased.
Not all the people from District 42 could do it.
’And that’s another thing I am looking forward...’ Casper needed to cover his mouth to hide a mischievous smile. ’I wonder what I can do once I come to understand how this energy works.’
