Chapter 226: Equipment

In the middle of their conversation, Casper and Amelia finally got to one of the sections taking care of some projects related to armament.

There, he could see a scene very similar to the Old Third Lab, but less creepy, although those guns seemed to have a frightening power.

Some guns that clearly have power to supermassive destruction appeared on Casper’s sight several times, and it made him get pensive.

’In truth, this point that just passed for my mind is something I never questioned, not even when I saw this kind of gun in the Old Third Lab...’ The soldier had a deep frown on his face, and after some point, it got Amelia’s attention.

"Something is bothering you, White warrior?" She asked.

"Yes. But I don’t know if you will be capable of saying something because of your mask, Amelia."

"Give it a try."

"If the only enemies you have for now are the Frelsis, just as I prefer to believe to be the case, why you develop such destructive and dreadful weapons? By the way, are the Frelsi the only enemies of the government or is there another threat that neither the citizens nor I realized yet?"

It was very strange for Casper to see something like that. Why would a District passing only for a civil war need weapons that could devastate entire cities? That was what Casper thought at that time.

’If the conclusions I am getting now are the truth, then I am pretty sure that the problems of this district are very far away from what I would expect...’

Amelia got pensive about that matter and looked to the sides. She stayed quiet for a minute, two minutes, five minutes...

They walked through all that section and Casper had the opportunity to see a lot more of those scary weapons but she still didn’t say anything.

In the end, she seemed to give up on trying and just knocked on the mask, with annoyed eyes.

"It’s something so complex that a metaphor doesn’t work?"

She shook her head, denying.

"No, I am completely restricted here." She stated, and the soldier got flabbergasted.

"W-why? Can they restrict in a so extreme manner?"

"I don’t know, Casper. I am not a Frelsi, nor the Forger. The masks are far beyond our understanding, you know? Just a few people know what they are capable of, and what they aren’t. Also, with their technology, it’s hard to judge if they have a limit!"

She was frustrated to the point where her ears and neck got red. Casper could notice that she was trying hard to reason and find a way to go through the restrictions, but she couldn’t at all.

’If it’s something so protected by the masks... Then I can’t imagine how serious it is. But, one thing is for sure, the only people who know what’s going on are the Royal Family and just a few Jarls, maybe some important Frelsis but I am not sure since their actual influence and power are unknown to me.

’Whether I will find out the truth or not, it will only depend on how far I can go with my influence and gain more prestige to be able to reach them.’

Amelia got quiet for a long while, waiting for Casper to finish his reasoning and keeping like this until he started to talk again.

"Ok. That’s another thing I need to keep in mind, then. I bet that there are a lot of things that I will just discover if I keep in touch with Vick and try to approach the Royal Family."

The director nodded her head solemnly.

"Anyway, it seems that you are not looking for this kind of weapon. I suppose that it is something more individual and portable, so I will bring you to somewhere else, then we can research more."

They kept on walking for an hour, passing for each section.

Casper asked her about each technology that he found interesting or then asked if this or that was possible to be made.

Amelia found his actions kind of awkward, but she didn’t inquire him of anything for the time being and answered all his questions.

As the scientists noticed Casper’s interest in their researches, they began to participate in the reviews and help the director in her explanations.

The Third Lab suddenly seemed to be more a workshop than a Laboratory.

That hour was the fastest one that Amelia experienced in those days being a director. She was already in burnout because of that much work she needed to do every day, and the lots of responsibility that befell her.

After that stroll ended, Casper decided to say goodbye. He had other issues to solve, so he couldn’t stay all day just in the Third Lab.

Amelia offered to walk him to the elevator, just to keep company, and the White warrior seemed to be expecting and wanting so.

"Won’t you visit Alfar?" She asked all of a sudden. "He is working hard every day in the Treatment Center of Halden. I think that he is barely sleeping. I said to him to bring the results of his research and treatments in the middle of the year, and the poor guy wants his first report to be satisfying."

Casper got a bit sad by her comment. He found himself somewhat a coward because of that matter, but he couldn’t help.

"I won’t. Alfar is doing his best now, and focusing on his projects. It’s better to leave him alone for now. Just like me, he is still trying to absorb a lot of things as well."

Amelia didn’t ask anything more about that subject and they fell silent once again. She even cursed herself for bringing up such a delicate thing, though what she wanted to do was scold Casper and convince him to be a man and face his friend.

"Well, anyway, I wanted to come here and see the weapons, too, because I need more equipment. Technological equipment that can help me in certain things in the future, and I would like that the Third Lab produced them to me."

The director was pissed off because of the real intentions of the soldier when he said that he wanted her to walk with him until the exit elevator. However, she was naive as well; she should have been able to suppose so.

"Don’t worry about it. We can take care of it for you. But here we are mainly participating in technologies of support or massive weapons. If you want something more individual, you might prefer to go to a corporation that develops weapons rather than a Laboratory."

Casper nodded his head.

"Ax Corp., I suppose?"

"Yes. The group that creates the Helheim weapons. But they aren’t the only ones. There is another corporation that takes the lead together with them. Their patrimony is slightly lower than what the Ax Corporation’s, but their guns are still good. Maybe Vick can make you contact the better blacksmiths of these corporations and get to you something really good."

The soldier got excited about that. He wanted to improve his power, and regarding fights, technology was the true power in District 42. If he could get the better ones, it would be a huge leap.

"See what you have in mind for us and contact us afterward, ok? Be creative, and so we can do something amazing for you." She slapped him on the back, just when they got in front of the elevator, and then walked off.

"Bye, bye White warrior." Amelia waved to him.

"Thank you for everything, Amelia."

Then, Casper got into the elevator and left the Third Lab.

...

After he got out from there, Casper decided to take a Teleporting pad to go to another floor.

He still had plenty of time to go visit Vick and solve some things with her. Also, they didn’t talk for a long while and the soldier was missing her presence as a friend.

He ended up messaging her once he got into the floor where she probably was, which was the one where the General Court was settled.

’It’s at this General Court where she is working so much. They said that cases of political intrigues increased inside the Castle nowadays. That’s probably due to the action of that secret organization.’

With the activities of those fake corporations, the born of new families and the internal marketing of the Castle ruined, that was the obvious outcome after all.

Vick answered the soldier in no time, telling him to wait beside the General Court.

He felt flattered that she was going to end her work so early just to meet him, even though she had a lot to get done.

Casper found himself giggling in the way.

’Hehe, that’s something Ana would do often as well... For Odin, where will this situation end up, huh?’

As confusion dominated him, the White warrior kept walking towards the General Court.
