Chapter 192: Suicidal mission part 1

Casper needed to wait until the scouts finished all the preparations to start the plan.

He was trying to be as calm as he could be. There was no way to go instead of cooling off and pay attention to everything around him.

The scouts had said to him the positions of the enemies, and he passed the information to the nearest soldier, ordering that he did the same, creating a chain of communication.

That was the most efficient way to pass information by that time.

They couldn’t use radios to communicate with each other. The Black Widow had a security system that interfered in their line, making it impossible to reach another person.

"The plan A predicted completely what would happen today. At nights when there is no moon, they prioritize settling some soldiers in watchtowers. Also, they active their lights, and the cameras go to night-mode, so they can spot someone even in the darkness.

"However, to operate it all at once, they need to take some troops from their guards who are around the camp, so it’s easier to enter there..."

Before they could advance to their positions, the hackers who were helping in that operation were doing their job and working on disabling the majority of the cameras.

"Those things are spread throughout the forest, in distinct and well-hidden spots. Once the cameras detect movement, they will send a warning to their operation base. With this disabled, they won’t even notice, and the cameras will be useless by now."

Casper saw a signal from far away, made with a red laser.

It meant that the scouts were done with the preparations.

The only thing that was left to do was wait for the orders of the colonel, or the brigade captain (Ana).

Casper knew that, if he hesitated for just a moment, Ana would be giving the order for him, and it wouldn’t be fair with her, so he gritted his teeth and raised his hand making a fist.

The soldier next to him made the same, and the others followed, in a domino effect.

"The important thing here is to be relentless. The main goal is to reach the operation base of the Black Widow, and do what we need to do, getting out of there as fast as we can."

The White warrior, this time, didn’t wait until his body got paralyzed by the pressure, and opened his hand, pointing to the military camp.

"From now on, it’s every man for himself. We will just find each other again when reaching the operation base."

One by one, the troops started to advance. The explosives settled at the nearest and tallest trees of that place exploded, making the trees fall forward on top of the wall around the military camp, serving as bridges.

Ignoring the soldiers who were guarding that place, the Yanke Forces started to run on top of the fallen trees, going at full speed and surpassing the wall.

The trees were selected previously, also as the point the explosives needed to be settled, so the majority of them fell just in the right angle to climb it.

The guards rounding in front of the walls got all startled, trying to retaliate and prevent them to reach the other side, but it was too late. The soldiers from the Yanke Forces were fast and precise, and in no time they were already inside the Black Widow.

Once they landed on the ground of the other side, the soldiers started to spread around, always bordering the camp and hiding behind the buildings and tents from there.

Casper was one of the firsts to arrive there and soon hid behind a huge tent. He sharpened his hearing, trying to hear something inside there, but it was unoccupied.

When the soldiers finished their rush inside the Black Widow, the alarms from there started to sound, and the watchers on top of the watchtowers activated the stronger lights, aiming it inside the camp and trying to spot someone.

"Now that we are already inside here, at any time we can die..." Casper waited for the lights of one of the watchtowers to pass next to him, then go far away.

"The goal, for now, is to reach the center of the camp... And that’s the most difficult thing... The estimated number of people dying now is... Thirty." The number made him gulp. It was more than half of their troops at once, right on the early phase of the plan.

The soldiers started to run forward, advancing on the frontline. They had already drawn their weapons

That part of their plan would be the crazy rush. A race until the operation base. It would just be possible because the security system was completely disabled, but temporarily. The scouts also would help to weaken their defenses on top of the watchtowers and the wall.

The other threats that would come to face them directly should be dealt with in the usual manner.

"Shoot nonstop on everything that moves and isn’t wearing black. Never stop to go forward, even when shooting; it doesn’t matter if it’s slow or quick, but don’t stop." That’s what a brigade captain said to them when in a meeting about their plans.

"There is no other way to go..." Casper thought, still running, holding an M4-A1 in his hands. "If we want to get there, that’s what we need to do. It’s the type of mission that just specially trained soldiers can do."

The time came when they encountered the others, also going towards them. Their pace decreased at that exact moment. They raised their guns, all at once, then the shoots started.

It was an intense exchange, neither side stopped to press forward. The Yanke Forces were swiftly moving along the military camp just like they knew that place like the palm of their hands.

In truth, all of them had the map of the Black Widow memorized, so they knew exactly what were paths they needed to take there.

Casper was all alone, running without anyone beside him. He was taking a path far away from the other soldiers.

He was not entirely focused on that battle, though, but on his friends. He couldn’t prevent himself to not imagine how many were already dead at that point, and how many would be dead until they got into the operation base.

The colonel spotted someone moving far away, and somersaulted to the right, avoiding a burst of fire in his direction, getting behind a tent.

He rounded that tent hastily. He couldn’t stop going forward because he needed to catch up with his team and reach the operation base at the same time as them.

When he got to the other side of the tent and saw that same enemy waiting for him there, Casper was cold and precise on his shot.

After some time, the sounds of hurried steps and shots started to fill the background.

The heartbeat of the colonel was intense, and he didn’t know how he could keep moving forward with all those insecurities on his chest.

Some of the scouts couldn’t pull through their fights against the soldiers on top of the wall and the watchers. Those soldiers began to aim at Casper’s troops and target them from above.

Before, the battle was already unfair, when seeing the numbers of people they would be exchanging fire with. However, now, it was two times as bad. It wasn’t a battle anymore, but a frenetic rush for their lives.

Even the hero of the Yanke Forces needed to struggle most of the way there and got shot, at least, two times, but the bulletproof vest saved him.

Surprisingly, he was one of the first to arrive at the operation base.

"Situation, soldier!" Once he got there, he immediately asked a random person about what happened.

"I am not sure about the count, sir, but we have, at least, 32 casualties or more."

The colonel felt that his blood pressure went down at once, and he nearly fainted there.

"W-what?"

"All the scouts got killed. Because of it, the enemies could retaliate from above. And the guards on the outside also tagged along to protect the camp. Without the scouts to hold them, their way was opened."

"Where the hell is the others!? Why there are just me and five of you here!?"

The soldier was startled because of the agitated and stressed colonel in front of him, and he stuttered a little in his response.

"T-they are holding the e-enemies on the way here until we can open the door of the operation base..." He shrugged his shoulders in fear.

The colonel reloaded his rifle, gritting his teeth hard and turning his back to that man.

"You all!" He called those soldiers, still with his jaw completely tense. "I will bring the rest of the troops alive here. You better had break in once I got here again, understood!?"

They answered quickly, but firmly, and started to work on open that thing.

Casper, then, ran off, going towards the noises of shots that were coming from the battlefield.
