Chapter 180: 180. Can I?

The car sped past the dark official road like a flash of lightning, the two large headlights in front resembling a monster’s eyes moving swiftly with speed. Thankfully, there was no one on the road in such dense darkness; otherwise, yet another eerie incident rumor might have surfaced soon.

Whether anyone saw her or not, Jin’er didn’t care at all. After all, it was so dark that nothing could be seen clearly, nor could anyone find her.

If someone was unlucky enough to catch a glimpse and get frightened, Jin’er could only silently apologize.

After driving for a while and seeing her father’s eager expression, Jin’er slowed down and stopped the car.

"Do you want to try, Dad?"

Jin’er wasn’t joking; she genuinely wanted her father to learn. Although she could get the car moving, her small stature made it a bit difficult, and her father was more familiar with the road conditions. Rather than worry about taking the wrong path, it was better to let her father take over directly.

Hua Chengtian looked at his daughter in pleasant surprise, "Can I really do it?"

"Of course. My father is so amazing, merely driving a car is surely not a problem." Jin’er spoke with pride, the light of trust and pride in her eyes deepening Hua Chengtian’s smile as he unconsciously puffed out his chest.

"Then... dad will give it a try." Excitedly rubbing his hands together, Hua Chengtian followed his daughter’s lead to unbuckle the seatbelt, and they switched places. Then, step by step, following his daughter’s instructions, he started the car, pressing the brake and accelerator alternately. With a mix of nervousness and excitement, the car smoothly began its journey.

However, he was too nervous at first, giving too much gas, causing the car to shoot forward like an untamed horse. While startled, he managed to stay calm, and with Jin’er’s soothing instructions, gradually reduced the speed, slowly getting accustomed to it.

Perhaps men naturally have a knack for these things, as a cup of tea later, Hua Chengtian could skillfully drive the car, his smile never leaving his face since he touched the steering wheel.

"Dad, I’ll leave the rest to you. I’ll take a nap; wake me up when we’re close." Seeing her father driving steadily and with full confidence in him, Jin’er wanted to take a short rest.

"Okay." Hua Chengtian glanced at his daughter, noticing how she could barely keep her eyes open, and quickly agreed.

Then he refocused all his energy on the road ahead, the speed gradually increasing. Without realizing it, they reached a familiar stretch, and after another cup of tea, the car stopped not far from Hua Village, with Hua Chengtian enjoying the satisfaction of turning off the engine.

Counting not the initial half an hour run by horse carriage, thanks to his daughter’s help, they reached in just over an hour a journey that would typically take a day. He limited the speed too, and was not at all tired, feeling rather spirited.

Hua Chengtian looked lovingly at his sleeping child. Despite reluctance, he had to wake her up.

"Jin’er... wake up..."

The child was in such deep sleep that it took several calls before she rubbed her eyes and woke up.

"Dad, are we there yet?" Jin’er said, looking at the dark surroundings outside.

"We’re here, right by the edge of the woods outside our village."

Seemingly not yet fully awake, Jin’er said "Oh" and got out of the car, with Hua Chengtian following quickly. Nearly forgetting the key while getting out, he fortunately remembered at the last moment, pulled it out, and reluctantly handed it over to Jin’er.

Truthfully, he wished he could place it in his own space, but his space was too small—another car would leave no room.

Besides, he felt a bit embarrassed.

Without thinking much, Jin’er took the key, and in an instant, both the car beside her and the key in her hand disappeared, replaced by a horse carriage. Considering the bullock cart in her space, she decided not to release it yet.

At this hour, the villagers were already asleep, so no one would notice the situation outside. It wasn’t too late to take out the cart at the door.

Actually, she could drive the cart herself, and though she’d never done it before, she had frequently seen her father drive it, so it probably wasn’t too hard. Plus, she was very familiar with Dahuang, who was always gentle. With that little distance, Jin’er was confident she could handle it.

Just worried her father wouldn’t allow it, she decided to release it at the door.

Meanwhile, the black horse was leisurely grazing in the woods, suddenly startled by the appearance in the darkness, almost ready to neigh. Fortunately, Jin’er quickly stuffed a piece of rock sugar into its mouth to calm it down.

Then, she hitched the cart and boarded it; before long, the carriage stopped at the house gate. Before her father spoke, Jin’er transferred the bull from her space.

Just like Dahuang being startled by the sudden location change, the black horse neighed nervously, but the next moment, it saw familiar owners and surroundings and settled down without any consolation needed.

Inside, the elderly Hua couple who were already sleeping in the courtyard, and Qishi, who was tossing and turning worried for the children and their father, all opened their eyes almost simultaneously upon Dahuang’s whinny.

Especially Qishi, the youngest, she was the quickest, her initial feeling on waking was that the children and their father had returned, and in her excitement, she slipped on her shoes and ran to the door.

"Has our dear granddaughter returned?" the old lady asked joyfully to the elderly man who was sitting up and putting on his shoes.

No reply was needed after that, as Hua Chengtian’s voice rang from outside amidst the courtyard noises.

"Dad, Mom," Hua Chengtian called in a moderate tone.

Upon hearing this, the old lady clapped the elderly man’s knee, now wearing his shoes, and hurriedly searched for her own shoes, elated.

With such commotion, even the sleeping young ones, Xiaosi and Hua Yunao, were awakened. Realizing what was happening, they quickly put on their shoes and rushed to the open gate, outpacing their grandparents, drawn by the noise. The house’s five dogs, excitedly wagging tails, flocked around Hua Chengtian and his daughter.

"Dad, sister, you finally came back..."

Hua Erge’s voice was the loudest, yet somehow carried a teasing tone. Especially the look he gave his sister.

Hua Dage was busy taking the reins from his father and, upon a closer look, discovered it wasn’t their Dahuang, but a large black horse. Surprised, he quickly led it inside, then saw Dahuang following afterward, while his grandfather was taking the reins from his sister, and his grandmother and mother were covering his sister with kisses.

As for the son, coming back safely was enough; there’d be nothing to nitpick at.

Hua Dage had long been accustomed to this scene, he kicked his sulking brother to hurry him to grab the reins from their grandfather.

After the kick, Hua Erge snapped back, especially noticing the tall black horse his big brother was holding, all his sulking turning into excitement.

He eagerly took the reins from his grandfather’s hand, leading Dahuang into the courtyard, his admiring gaze glued to the large black horse, unable to look away.

Meanwhile, the old lady and Qishi, hugging Jin’er for a while, finally entered the yard at the old man’s reminder and closed the door, but they still held onto Jin’er, looking at her carefully in the night, completely oblivious to the extra animal in the yard.
