Dimensional Hotel-Chapter 540: Infiltration
A bizarre, ear-piercing shriek, like that of a large piece of metal being violently torn apart, suddenly came from the depths of the corridor. Yu Sheng looked up and saw that the space ahead, presenting a strangely fractured and overlapping state, had more fissures, and a mass of "substance" resembling muddy sludge was surging between those cracks, desperately trying to enter the real world.
Several dazzling balls of light instantly crossed the corridor and landed in the middle of that pile of "sludge," burning it full of holes.
Hiding behind the cover, the Black Spot soldiers subconsciously tilted their heads at the sound of the explosion, then looked nervously in the direction of the fissure before continuing to speak: "...We were trapped in the laboratory at the time — outside was the space station defense force that had already defected, surrounded by hysterical technical staff and laboratory security who were shooting wildly as if they were crazy. The collapse triggered by the disappearance of Zolda Black Stone ripped open several large gashes above the laboratory, and you could even see the stars outside through those gaps...
"Then, something fell from the starlight, like sludge, some viscous shadow, like..."
The soldier gestured with his hand, his tone filled with fright and hesitation, as if he couldn’t think of a better way to describe the bizarre and mad scene he had witnessed. After organizing his thoughts several times, he finally continued: "It was like pus flowing out from between the stars, falling on the dome of the space station, making the whole station boom like a giant bell struck fiercely, with things seeping through every fissure.
"But just at that moment, a passage appeared where the ’Black Stone’ disappeared — we didn’t know how it opened, the rift generator in the laboratory had already been destroyed, but it looked at least more stable than other places, and silhouettes could be seen on the other side of the passage. Our squad leader then led us rushing over, and then... is the current situation, those ’things’ followed us to this side."
The soldier took a deep breath and looked at the golden-haired elf standing next to Baili Qing.
"Boss, what on earth is happening here?"
Luo’s face was gloomy, but she did not answer the soldier’s question.
After a long time, she finally said to Baili Qing, "The laboratory staff and the space station defense force have been exposed to the Black Stone for a long time; they... might be more deeply affected than I am."
Yu Sheng remained silent, gazing at the far-off corridor-integrated space station structures and those bizarre projections outside the structures that couldn’t even reveal their original shapes, possibly not even from the real world.
The scene described by the Black Spot soldier next to him was exceedingly absurd and strange, with the torn space station being understandable, but the "pus-like shadow dripping from the star space" sounded more like something happening beyond the boundaries of rationality. More crucially, why did this all erupt suddenly — although Zolda Black Stone has always had a strong urge to escape, it had always been firmly controlled by the Black Spot Laboratory until today... Was it because the order from Luo’s squad leader to increase the suppression level made the Black Stone feel "threatened"?
Or was it... because of his own "invasion"?
Yu Sheng calmed his mind in thought, sensing the distant connection established via blood.
It was the imprint left by his two deaths at the Black Stone Space Station.
The feedback returned by the blood was broken and fragmented, with an empty and eerie whistling echoing in his heart.
This situation doesn’t seem right.
Yu Sheng frowned, feeling that the blood he left on the space station seemed to be disturbed by something, with the feedback containing obvious blanks and breaks, almost as if parts of it were no longer in the real dimension — not even in this world.
Yu Sheng closed his eyes, attempting to reconstruct the current state of the "Black Stone Space Station" based on the limited feedback from the blood.
In the darkness, a massive and shattered disc-shaped virtual shadow slowly surfaced.
But the moment that shadow emerged, a chilling and threatening sensation suddenly struck, and Yu Sheng saw that virtual shadow vanish while countless black spider silk threads inexplicably filled his vision, covering him like a gigantic net —
"Yu Sheng! Oh my gosh, not this again..."
A startled exclamation from Erin echoed in his mind, immediately followed by a powerful force pulling at him. Yu Sheng’s body jolted, his eyes snapping open to find two mass-produced puppets hanging onto his arms, shaking vigorously, with another already climbing on his shoulder, preparing to swing a little fist wide open.
As soon as Yu Sheng opened his eyes, Erin, who was swinging her arm on his shoulder, quickly retracted her strength, then with an "Oh my," she fell down. Fortunately, Yu Sheng was quick enough to catch her by the back of her neck in time.
"I have to go over there and take a look." Yu Sheng said quickly.
"Go over there?" Dangling in mid-air, Erin took a moment before reacting, "Oh, the space station..."
Baili Qing also quickly caught on. Even she widened her eyes slightly upon hearing this bold idea: "That’s too dangerous; the space station is probably completely overrun by now. If you open the door and go over..."
"I’ll come back immediately if things aren’t right," Yu Sheng interrupted Baili Qing, "Given the current situation, the number of monsters crawling through the fissures seems almost endless. It’s uncertain when we can close the fissures by conventional means, but I might try to close it from the other side — perhaps with a higher success rate."
Baili Qing gazed earnestly into Yu Sheng’s eyes, and after confirming his resolute attitude, she finally nodded slowly: "I understand. We will strengthen our firepower here and try to keep as many enemies as possible on this side of the fissure."
By then, Luo also realized from the exchange between Yu Sheng and Baili Qing that this "Door Monster’s" plan was suicidal. What followed was immense incredulity and shock — she stared dumbfounded at the man who repeatedly intruded into her base, her initial prejudice and hostility greatly shaken, transforming into a touch of admiration and respect.
After a brief hesitation, she stepped forward, "I’ll go with you."
Yu Sheng looked at the golden-haired elf a bit unexpectedly, quickly waving his hand, "No, your combat prowess isn’t even as good as Erin’s. It’s easy to get killed there."
Luo was choked for a moment, but looking at the circle of mass-produced puppets with dead fish eyes staring at her, she opened her mouth several times but couldn’t voice her rebuttal, only managing to maintain a composed face, "You’re willing to risk yourself, I have no reason to stay here—after all, that’s my space station."
"Um," Yu Sheng tugged his lips, "mainly because I’m not afraid of death."
Luo looked indifferent, "I’m not afraid of death either."
Yu Sheng, "I think we’re talking at cross purposes..."
Luo, "...?"
However, Yu Sheng quickly reconsidered and gave up dissuading her, "But speaking of which, it seems okay for you to come along. You know more about the condition of that space station than I do."
Luo nodded, slightly puffing out her chest.
"But once we’re there, you have to follow my orders." Yu Sheng glanced at her, emphasizing, "You now know that ’stone’ is related to the Dark Angel. I’m the only expert in this field—can you comply with orders?"
"Of course," Luo responded without hesitation, "I can distinguish priorities."
"Very well," Yu Sheng nodded, then looked down at Erin, whom he was holding, briefly thought, and placed her on the ground. He casually grabbed a nearby mass-produced puppet and held it under his arm, "You come with me too, just bringing a mass-produced one is fine, at least they’re tougher."
The mass-produced puppet held under Yu Sheng’s arm dumbly lifted its head, its dead fish eyes without highlights rolling and instantly becoming lively, "Oh, okay."
A phantom door formed in Yu Sheng’s hand and was gently opened.
"I’ll leave this side to you," Yu Sheng looked back at Baili Qing, "If I’m correct, the ’Black Stone’ hasn’t truly disappeared, but rather it’s still affecting the space station through some means. Once I attempt to close the rift, the Black Stone will undoubtedly feel threatened and try to prevent it—you must keep those monsters on this side, don’t let them go back to cause trouble for me."
"Okay," Baili Qing promptly nodded, then added a bit apprehensively, "I could send a crack team with you..."
"No need, taking too many people will affect my performance," Yu Sheng waved his hand, "Besides, if I truly need manpower, I can pull reinforcements anytime."
Baili Qing didn’t say anything further, just calmly nodded and stepped back half a step.
Yu Sheng, along with Erin and Luo, turned and stepped into the phantom door.
As if instantly crossing an entire world, the environments on either side of the door were starkly different. The roaring gunfire sounds abruptly faded away, leaving only distant, muffled explosion sounds, seemingly coming through layers of walls from an unknown direction.
A mild chill and a faintly terrifying atmosphere permeated the air around them.
Erin quickly climbed onto Yu Sheng’s shoulder, hugging his head tightly with wide eyes surveying the surroundings, "... Is this the space station?"
She saw dimly lit alloy corridors skewing in every direction in her view, riddled with fissures throughout the station’s interior, along with bizarre out-of-time scenic glimpses flickering through the darkness. Suspicious and unsettling black substances clung like viscous shadows to the walls on either side—and among those "viscous shadows" were interwoven threads of pitch-black silk.
Considering the space station’s core laboratory module had been completely contaminated by the Black Stone’s power, barging in carelessly might lead to immediate death without time for operations, Yu Sheng did not directly open the door in the laboratory, but rather in a corridor near it.
The eerie scenes here were expected, but the level of quietness was surprisingly unexpected.
Yu Sheng turned to look at the elf walking beside him.
Luo’s face looked terrible.
She seemed to struggle to accept how her perfectly fine space station turned into such a polluted nest in the blink of an eye.
But in just a moment, Luo adjusted her emotions.
"Let’s go," she exhaled slightly, "I’ll lead the way."
