Devouring Dragon Heir-Chapter 15: Ch No More a Toy
Chapter 15: Ch 15 No More a Toy
Hello readers the book title just got changed from ’divine absorption - dominating the world’ to ’DEVOURING DRAGON HEIR’
----------------
Klaus stood for a moment, the broken glass at his feet. His furious laughter had faded into rough breaths, and his body still trembled.
The strong, wild anger had passed its peak. What was left was a cold, clear feeling. He looked at the shattered pieces on the floor, a sign of how angry he had been.
The Heavenly Will is an unknown enemy. A sentient being that had played with his life for five long years. The deep unfairness of it had sparked a new, dangerous goal inside him.
He had been lost, but now, he had something to fight. A reason, a revenge.
He stood still for a few minutes, his eyes closed. He took deep breaths. It wasn’t real meditation yet, just a way to calm the storm in his mind.
Klaus then sat on the edge of the bed. The morning air felt cool on his skin. He could feel a humming energy inside him. His mind was getting clearer, settling down.
The anger was still there, like a hot ember, but it wasn’t wild anymore. It was sharp and focused. All the confusion, the sadness he had felt for himself, the questions about how he got here they all came together into one strong thought.
Get strong. Get crazy strong. So strong that no "Heavenly Will" or cosmic shithead could ever touch him again.
He took another deep breath, his decision was firm. He knew what he had to do. His eyes opened. They didn’t show madness, but a clear, sure resolve.
The only thing he truly knew was this, he had to get stronger. Incredibly strong. So strong that he could destroy the Heavenly Will.
He spoke to the system, his voice calm now. "Open the gift pack."
system: "Right away host"
a soft chime sounded. A few messages appeared, glowing in front of him.
------------------------
[DING! Newbie Gift Pack opened!]
1. Dragon God’s Sight (Divine)
2. Dragon’s Might (Legendary)
3. Jian Sword - Earth Cleaver (Myth)
4. Body Reconstruction Pill (one star)
5. Blood Purification Pill (one star)
6. Draw Points X 1000
----------------------
Klaus looked at the list of items. A quiet feeling of satisfaction came over him. He didn’t cheer. He didn’t smile. He knew he had a much bigger enemy out there to defeat a being that had taken five years of his life and toyed with his very existence.
These gifts were just tools. They were useful and powerful, but they were only a way to reach his goal. They didn’t make him overly excited. He just saw them for what they were: necessary items for a big purpose.
He then asked the system, his voice even and controlled, "Will the Heavenly Will interfere again now?"
He wanted to know in case he could do something to escape the constant surveillance of the heavenly will.
System: "At the time of activation the system took some measures and added a cloaking effect upon the host thus I have bought some time for the host.
Approximately one year. After that, the effect of the cloaking I arranged will wear off. To increase the duration, a significant amount of draw points are needed."
One year. Just one year of being mostly safe, or at least, less directly attacked. It wasn’t a lot, but it was something.
It gave him time to grow. "At what stage will I be able to face the Heavenly Will?" Klaus asked. His eyes scanned the new status panel, trying to figure out how his current ’C’ grade fit into this huge, distant goal.
System: "At least after you have crossed the SSS rank of the Mortal stage and when you have mastered at least one elemental law to about 10%."
Klaus blinked. "10%? Just that much?" It seemed surprisingly low for fighting a cosmic being that controlled fate. He had expected something much bigger, like mastering all the elemental laws or reaching a much higher level of power.
System: "Please do not underestimate the difficulty, host. Reaching SSS in the Mortal Realm is a huge task. Mastering even 1% of an elemental law at your current stage is like a normal person trying to understand something endless. The 10% represents a basic, deep understanding and control of that element’s main universal rules. It is a power level far beyond any being currently on Earth or the Milky Way"
"Okay," Klaus said quietly. There was no emotion in his voice. He understood now. His idea of strength was still limited by what he knew in this world. Even 10% mastery of just one elemental law, though it sounded small, was a massive amount of power.
He shifted his gaze back to the list of gifts. He looked at each one carefully, reading their names. "System," he instructed, "introduce each one of them."
Ding!!
Dragon God’s Sight (Divine): A divine skill that allows the user to see through illusions, perceive hidden truths, detect spiritual entities, and eventually, with higher mastery, peer through all forms of matter and energy. It can peer into anything"
Dragon’s Might (Legendary): A legendary skill that allows the user to unleash the terrifying aura of a true dragon, instilling fear, suppressing enemies, and bolstering allies. Its power grows with the host’s bloodline awakening and his understanding of laws, can fuse with other skill effects"
Jian Sword - Earth Cleaver (Myth):
The sword can cleave through mountains, volcanoes, oceans, planets, and even gods.
A mythical-grade weapon, forged by the god of blacksmiths. It possesses immense cutting power and stability. It has the capability of growing with the host. However, the host cannot wield it right now. You are currently unworthy."
Klaus didn’t feel bad about the sword. There was no sudden feeling of disappointment. He knew where he stood.
He was Mortal Grade C. A mythical weapon was too strong for him right now. It was a goal to work towards, not something he could use immediately.
He understood that. He had seen what real weakness meant moments ago, standing before the projection of a god.
After that, he kept the seemingly dull-looking sword in his inventory. The system told him that the sword’s real form would only be revealed once it acknowledged a master.
Ding!!
Body Reconstruction Pill (one star) - a pill that can help the host to refine his physique
Blood Purification Pill (one star) - a pill that can help the host refine his mana channels and nervous system.
System: "Host is advised to immediately consume both the Body Reconstruction Pill (one star) and the Blood Purification Pill (one star) one by one. They will refine the flesh and blood of the host, significantly increasing his potential and strengthening his overall body.
Klaus didn’t wait. The moment he heard nice things like Refine flesh and blood, increased potential. That meant strength.
That was exactly what he needed. Without another thought, he put both pills into his mouth at the same time. He swallowed them quickly. Their slight, earthy taste faded fast.
System: "I said one by one." The system’s voice was flat, not showing any alarm, just stating a fact.
Klaus paused. "Huh?" A strange tingling began in his stomach. A wave of heat, then a sudden cold, started to spread through his arms and legs.
The system’s last message, simple as it was, now sounded very bad. He immediately understood what was about to happen. His stomach churned violently.
A sharp, burning pain began deep inside his bones, spreading out. Before he could even move, before he could think to grab some water, his body froze. The pain grew stronger, becoming an unbearable agony that drowned out everything else.
He gasped, a choked sound, and fell off the bed. "Ah!" he screamed.
But then, a flash of his usual caution returned. He was in an inn.
People would hear him. He clamped his jaw shut, biting back another scream. He somehow managed to grab a handful of the bedsheets and stuff his mouth, pulling it tight in his fists until his knuckles were white. And then, the real torture began.
An unbearable pain tore through his whole body. It felt like every single cell was being ripped apart, then put back together, then torn apart again.
His muscles twitched on their own. His back arched off the bed, then slammed back down. Sweat instantly poured from him, sticking his hair to his forehead.
He twitched, shaking violently, thrashing on the floor like an insect caught on a pin. The pain was total, taking over his world. Time stretched. For what felt like forever, but was probably only two hours, he suffered through the agony.
His vision swam, going dark at the edges. Finally, after what seemed like endless tearing and rebuilding, his body gave out. He collapsed on the ground next to the bed, completely exhausted. His limbs twitched weakly, and his mind barely held on to consciousness.
