The Osborne mom intentionally spoke like a guest, just to gloss over the issue of a "bride price."
Kenneth Osborne brought it up first, so she couldn’t remain silent any longer.
The Osborne mom had no choice but to laugh and say, "Our Kenneth getting married of course means the bride price is already prepared. But shouldn’t you tell your aunt? She’s doted on you since you were little, you’re getting married now, you can’t keep her in the dark, right?"
Kenneth Osborne nodded, "Of course, I need to tell them, my aunt, uncle, and cousin, and see when they’re available. Once we set a wedding date, they’ll be the first to know."
"That’s good." The Osborne mom smiled warmly at Lawrence Winters, and tentatively asked, "So where will you live after you’re married? Why not live at your house? That large apartment of yours can house so many people. You and your wife live together, and when you have kids, your mom can help take care of them."
Lawrence Winters smirked and clapped his hands, "That sounds great! Kenneth, after we get married, you can live at my house, and the kids can take my surname, how about it?"
Kenneth knew she was joking, and he had no intention of living at Lawrence Winters’ house after marriage, but just as he was about to say something to ease the situation, the Osborne mom protested.
"What did you say?! Why should the kids take your surname?! Kenneth is a part of our Osborne family! Of course, they need to have our surname!" The Osborne mom’s voice was especially loud.
Lawrence Winters spread his hands and said with a smile, "You’re the one who suggested Kenneth live at my place after we get married. For instance, the Spencer family just had a son-in-law move in; he rightly lives at his wife’s house, and surely their kids will have the surname Spencer."
Lawrence’s words almost rendered the Osborne mom speechless.
The Osborne mom had her eyes on the large apartment of Lawrence Winters’ family, thinking since Gabrielle Winters had only one daughter and Nick Zeller had no kids, wouldn’t that big apartment belong to Lawrence Winters?
Since it’s Lawrence Winters’, it would belong to Kenneth, and hence to their kids, eventually becoming part of their Osborne family.
But if the kids were to take the Winters surname, the Osborne mom wouldn’t agree.
The Osborne mom gave Lawrence Winters a glare, "Lawrence, that’s different. Blake Leaf made it clear that he’s moving into the Spencer family, so, of course, the kids need the Spencer surname. But did Kenneth ever say he’s joining your family? What does living somewhere have to do with anything?"
Kenneth Osborne didn’t want Lawrence to continue arguing with his mom, so he quickly took her hand and accepted the luggage sent down by Brooke Osborne, saying, "Mom, don’t argue anymore. I have a house, it’s small, but I bought it myself. After marrying Nora, we’ll live in my house. As for Nora’s house, that’s hers and has nothing to do with us, so don’t worry about it."
"How am I worried? For whom am I doing this? You ungrateful brat! Really throwing your mom away after getting a wife!" The Osborne mom couldn’t handle what Kenneth said and started to lose her composure.
Kenneth closed his eyes and said simply, "Mom, after Nora and I get married, we still need to care for her grandparents. Why don’t I just join her family, after all, whether I do or not, one of our kids will take the Winters surname, I’ve promised them that."
"What?!" The Osborne mom’s voice boomed towards the sky, "A child with their surname?! That can’t be given away for free! We must get money to change the surname!"
"You needn’t worry about that." Kenneth nodded, pulling Lawrence Winters towards the door.
The Osborne mom wanted to catch up, but the Osborne dad held her back and signaled with his eyes, whispering, "Don’t go too far. The son is grown up, do you think he’s Brooke, listening to everything you say?"
"He’s my son, if he doesn’t listen to me, should he listen to that little vixen?" The Osborne mom fumed, annoyed.
She originally liked Lawrence Winters a lot, but Kenneth’s defense of her annoyed her.

Joan Lawson was an obstetrics and gynecology doctor at River City Hospital and was just about to start her shift.
