Chapter 530: Chapter 286: I’d Rather You Lied to Me

As usual, as soon as Lawrence Winters sent his message, Edward Foster called.

Urgently, he asked, "Lawrence, how did your arm get injured? Is it serious?"

Lawrence smiled and shook her head, "How should I say this? If I say it’s not serious, then I’m purposely being negligent. The truth is, it’s really severe; someone slashed me, and the wound is deep enough to see the bone."

Edward almost jumped out of his seat, "What?! How did you get slashed?! You must be joking! Lawrence, I’d rather you be negligent!"

Lawrence was feeling heartbroken. Seeing Edward so concerned, she opened a video call, "Look, I’m not lying to you."

Edward watched the video, seeing Lawrence’s arm hanging on her neck, his heart clenched.

He hurriedly said, "Okay, I agree to your leave; one week isn’t enough, take two." After saying that, he hung up. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

After hanging up Lawrence’s call, Edward paced around his office, still uneasy, and called his family doctor, saying, "Could you come with me to a friend’s place? Her arm is injured, quite seriously, and I worry about her being mistreated by incompetent doctors. Can you come with me to check her out?"

The Foster Family’s doctor was a man in his fifties, not just an ordinary family doctor.

He was highly skilled, especially in surgical operations, and was nicknamed the "One Blade in General Surgery" by people.

Seeing Edward being so polite, he naturally agreed immediately.

Twenty minutes later, Edward was standing with his family doctor in front of the elevator on the first floor of Lawrence Winters’ building.

Lawrence received Edward’s call, saying he brought a particularly skilled surgeon to see her. She joked, "Mr. Foster, how worried are you that I’m deceiving you?"

"It’s not worry; I’d rather you deceive me. I’m just... just afraid you’re being careless; the severity of a laceration can vary." Edward scratched his head, "Let me see it, otherwise I won’t get any sleep for two weeks."

Lawrence was genuinely touched.

She invited them up and specially went to the elevator hall to meet them.

As soon as Edward saw Lawrence, his gaze was drawn to her arm wrapped in bandages, "How did this happen? Why were you cut?"

Lawrence sighed, "It’s a long story; let’s talk inside."

She led the two of them to a small reception room.

It was more secluded here, unlike the main living room, which might alarm her mother, uncle, and old Daoist.

Including Kenneth Osborne, of course.

Lawrence didn’t want to continue enduring their reprimands.

The doctor opened his medical kit and said to Lawrence, "Ms. Winters, Mr. Foster told me about your situation. If you don’t mind, can I take a look at your wound?"

Lawrence hesitated, saying, "This laceration was treated with a gel pad last night. The doctor said it would prevent scarring. It’s already secured..."

"It’s alright. I have the best imported gel pads here; I’ll re-dress your wound in a bit." The doctor took out what seemed to be a more advanced splint, saying, "If the laceration didn’t cross the upper and lower arm, with this custom-made splint, you wouldn’t need to keep your arm suspended and it wouldn’t affect your daily life."

"Oh? That’s amazing!" Lawrence was pleasantly surprised; she looked at Edward for confirmation, as if asking whether the doctor could be trusted.

Edward smiled and said, "This is our family’s exclusive doctor, known as the ’One Blade in General Surgery.’ Don’t worry."

Lawrence smiled and nodded, "Alright, I trust you."

She stretched out her bandaged arm towards the doctor.

The doctor was indeed very skilled, evident from his gentle method of unwrapping the bandage, making Lawrence feel almost nothing as he untied it.

The gel pad on her arm was soaked with blood.

The doctor’s expression turned serious, "Your bleeding wasn’t properly stopped. Fortunately, Mr. Foster brought me here; we need to clean it again, apply hemostatic medication, and then put on a new gel pad."

Lawrence was startled and quickly nodded, "Please do as you see fit; I’ll follow your instructions."

Edward glanced over, then quickly diverted his gaze, feeling deeply pained, "Lawrence, how did you get injured like this?"

Lawrence pouted and briefly recounted last night’s events. Of course, she didn’t mention the name of the "Three Billion Sister," nor did she bring up Ryan Sheldon’s name.

She only mentioned, "To rescue a friend, I fought with a few men. I knocked them all into the hospital, but I got slashed like this."
