Chapter 115: 115:City of Creatures(13)

As they ran through the high-tisk section. Raymond quietly pulled Colleen so they could talk in private.

"If you work here. Then do you know where the Bloody Fang Dragon is located?"

She looked confused, raising an eyebrow. "Bloody Fang Dragon..? We have a...dragon. I’m not sure about the bloody fang part."

Raymond paused, there wasn’t any type of dragon known as the bloody fang dragon. So it was probably just a title and not the actual name of the monster. Like how Ellen’s title was the Word Crossing Arrow. He felt a bit stupid now that he thought about it.

It made sense actually, the average person had little knowledge on dragons since they were one of the rarest creatures to ever encounter. So they probably just called it what they saw. Which was a dragon with its fangs all bloody from killing. He should have realized when he heard the name already.

"Where’s the location of the dragon then?"

"Are you sure you’re looking for RD? She’s a bit...unique."

"RD?"

"Red Dragon. It’s what we call it here."

So that’s what RD stood for. He had heard the researchers here mention RD numerous times. But they had never once said its full name. So he had assumed it was something else.

"Here’s the location, she’s the second most valuable asset here but there’s been some difficulties in trying to make use of her. So she was always sidelined. Are you sure you’re looking for her?"

"Yes we’re very sure."

With the location secured, he quietly also shared the information with Ellen. Sometime while killing the demon or escaping, they would have to go deal with it.

Stopping at another metal door along the corridor, she turned to them all. Holding her access card in her hands with a serious expression ok her face.

"Here’s your demon. Remember to include my name as a contribution so I don’t get imprisoned."

"..."

"What? If I’m helping you all, I think I also deserve a reward no?"

Her still face showed just how shameless she was. But Raymond could honestly understand, she was hitting two birds with one stone here.

Getting her revenge on the people who fired her, and being exempt from imprisonment for illegal experimentation on rare creatures. Unlike her colleagues, who would probably be arrested on sight after the raid was over. She alone would walk free, maybe. Her status as a upper researcher would make her sentencing more severe.

"Deal. But we also have another team trying to rescue a Night Blazing Horse. If you help them, we promise to try and plead for you."

"The Night Blazing Horse as well? You guys are really greedy at such a young age."

The demon, the Red Dragon and now the only known purple Night Blazing Horse. She didn’t know these kids ages, but they definitely didn’t seem to be over eighteen. Yet they were already so greedy!

Well whatever, the greedier they were. The more losses her bosses would suffer, and that was more then fine by her.

Swiping her card, they entered the metal enclosure. With their weapons prepped and ready, they stepped through several doors. Finding themselves in a completely white room. A few pieces of luxurious, aristocratic furniture here and there.

And a demon, sitting on a fancy chair. Resting his chin on his hands as he flipped through a book in his arms.

He seemed to have a black aura about him, two crimson horns sticking out of his head. He was actually quite good looking. He would have made a good actor.

The demon shut the book, looking up at them and seeing their drawn weapons.

He smiled, "So many just for me? I’m touched. But you should at least knock before entering somebody’s abode."

"I know right? I’ve been telling Ellen to knock before she comes in just in case I might be changing or something but she never lis-

Raymond felt something slap the back of his head, making him keel over slightly.

"No talking for the next few minutes."

He laughed, setting the book aside as he stood up. There was still quite a distance between them and him, but his presence made it seem as if they were right in front of each other.

"It seems someone understands at lea-

Before he finished his sentence, he immediately dashed towards them. Claws extending from his fingers as he unleashed his killing intent towards them.

Thomas, barely able to react in time despite being on guard. Held his sword out trying to block it. Only for the demon to slam into an invisible shield.

"Thomas!"

He immediately thrust his sword, a hole created through Raymond’s shield specifically for him to stab the demon still stuck on his shield.

Bright holy energy enveloped his sword. Its mere presence already made the demon hiss in pain despite Thomas being a level below him in terms of strength.

Jumping back, his face. Previously attractive, now seemed...well for lack of a better word, demonic.

"A human? With holy energy?!"

A dark red energy flooded his chest where Thomas had nicked him, erasing the remnants of holy energy that lingered on him by overpowering it with his demonic energy.

He dodged to the side, evading a golden arrow. Ellen’s Kairos bow had originally come with an arrow. But she had never used it yet, now was her first time using it.

"Don’t let him rest."

Noelle and Zachary dashed towards him. Weapons poised for a thrust as light and starlight combined together.

BAM!

He growled, swiping their weapons away. Sparks flying as Noelle’s spear and Zachary’s sword nearly broke.

A wave of demonic energy shot out from his hands, pushing Zachary away as he slashed at Noelle.

Right before his claws came into contact with Noelle’s armor, another invisible shield blocked him. Only stopping it a few inches before it cut into her body.

Jumping backwards, his eyes locked onto Raymond, more specifically the wand in his hands.

"You."

The rest except for the holy energy human were annoying flies to him, but Raymond was the only one who was at the same level as him.

Seeing the demon’s eyes on him. Raymond immediately reinforced his own shields, his intuition saving him as a spear made of demonic energy flew right towards his face. Breaking past his first shield layer and heavily damaging his second.

He grit his teeth, channeling his mana to repair his shields. At the current rate of mana usage, he wouldn’t have enough left over to kill the Red Dragon.

He pointed his wand directly at him, "Frost Spear!"

The demon immediately evaded to the side at his yell, only to be hit by a barrage of icicles which exploded into fragments upon lodging themselves in him.

Thomas, sword raised high. Seized the opportunity to land another hit. His holy energy acting like a parasite on the demon. Making him cough out blood at the double attack.

"Vermin! You dare lie to me?!"

Raymond’s deception tactic made the demon livid. Purging his body of the holy energy again, he flung Thomas away.

Each time he blasted someone away, their bodies would slam into the hard wall. Yet their surroundings (minus the furniture) was still completely intact.

No wonder the demon hadn’t tried to escape. These walls could even contain Raymond’s spells!

Seeing Noelle rush towards him once more, he launched several projectiles of demonic energy at her. Grabbing her spear by the tip and crushing it in his palms when she tried to thrust it towards him.

With her spear destroyed, Noelle casually formed a new spear out of starlight. Her armor glinting in the light.

Ever since she had formed her core, and acquired her astral-attunement. Her innate power had undergone an upgrade, her armor stronger and most importantly, her Asteria Armory Arts could finally show their true potential.

As the starlight manifested itself into a new spear, she got into a stance. A four-sided star appearing behind her as she flourished her new spear.

"Protect me for a few minutes."

Sensing the danger, the demon tried his best to prevent whatever it was Noelle was preparing. Only to be stopped by the constant barrage of attacks from the others.

Faced with the constant arrows, ice spells, holy energy and sword thrusts. Despite his constant attempts, even going so far as to toss a javelin of his own blood.

Realizing there was no use, he blew Zachary away again. A sphere of demonic energy enveloping him.

Even if it hurt his pride to have to block an attack by such vermin, right now. His life was more important!

This alone was proof enough of their strength as special class students. Despite the Baron ranked demon being an entire level above them, he still felt enough danger from them to fear for his life.

Raymond smirked, seeing the demon shield himself. He transformed his wand back into its staff form, channeling his mana.

"Shield breaker."

A spell specifically designed to counter the most basic form of shielding. Which was currently being utilized by the demon.

The sphere immediately shrunk down in size, becoming slightly more transparent and letting him see the enraged face of the demon. Cracks forming on its surface.

Thomas, his wings and halo glowing brighter then ever. Raised his sword to the ceiling—before bringing it down in one swift motion.

Holy energy enveloped his sword, making it longer and sharper as it clashed with the shield. A deafening thunderclap, followed by the sounds of glass shattering and a shriek of pain.

"You pest. I curse you to never know rest!"

Even with Noelle still charging her attack, his rage completely made him lose his rationality. Grabbing Thomas’s longsword by the blade.

Despite his flesh hissing and melting when it came into contact with the holy energy, the demon merely covered his limb with demonic energy. Crushing the sword before plunging his claws into Thomas’s shoulder with the other hand.

He would have stabbed the heart. But another golden arrow forced him to change his target.

With his claws still inside Thomas, he lifted him up into the air and slammed him down onto the floor. Blood spurring out of his mouth as he hit the ground.

Kicking Thomas away, he turned his attention back to the others. Raymond’s shield spells took too long for him to break through, and Noelle’s move still had a few minutes where she was inactive.

In a split second he made up his mind. Take out the archer, then stop the spear user!
