Chapter 112: 112:City of Creatures(10)

When Raymond had mentioned briefly that Audrina was the only one they had yet to get to agree. Thomas had decided to take it upon himself to get her to help.

He panicked a bit at first, Audrina was a demon. Would she really partake in a situation like this?

His worries were quickly scrubbed away a half hour later. As Thomas returned, dragging a gloomy Audrina behind him. Somehow getting her to agree to their plan.

It seemed like Audrina was someone who constantly slept, so why did she always seem so tired?

With all of them gathered together, now that team two had finished their mission early as well thanks to Noelle and Lin Qingyi joining them halfway. They had three days left in the city total.

Raymond had already scouted out practically the entire laboratory. With Audrina’s help, the two of them snuck in and created a map of the entire laboratory.

The entire place had very little security, relying only on a few awakened here and there. Most at the first level.

At first he had been a bit confused, for such a top secret laboratory. Shouldn’t the security have been a lot stronger?

But it also kind of made sense, the entire thing was already really well hidden. Raymond had to cheat and use False Future Sight to even find it after all.

The chances of the place being attacked was abysmally low, but also. If the Mercia Family was seen guarding such a facility, the backlash would be immense. The other Families would immediately bite on this opportunity like hounds to tear down a fellow competitor.

So the solution to the Mercia Family was simple. Just don’t do anything.

That way, when it was inevitably revealed. They could just play stupid! Even if everyone and their mothers knew it was them helping, if there was no proof. No one could do anything about it.

So what if I did do it? Show your proof!

By doing the absolute bare minimum, the Mercia Family could avoid any of the direct heat and just shift it all to whatever poor scapegoat they had chosen. They might suffer a few losses, but it was better then the entire Family going down.

With nearly the entire place scouted out, there was only one possible option for where the Bloody Fang Dragon was.

The high-risk section.

The demon was also located within the high-risk section, so none of them had actually seen it yet. But Raymond saw a file on it with a picture attached so they knew of its existence within there somewhere.

That was still the main plan after all, demons were a threat that humanity spared no expense in killing. It might sound strange, but literally every human alive despised demons. A wonder created from years of fighting wars with them and propaganda from the government. So breaking into a secure lab just to kill a demon in captivity? Perfectly acceptable.

The excuse could be used by literally anyone in order to justify most things.

A man cheated on his wife?

Actually, it was to lure out a demon!

A group of students bullying another student?

Again, they were just luring out a demon!

A mass murderer killing two parents and making a child into an orphan?

That one wasn’t as acceptable. But it definitely helped his case!

And yes, these were all real events that occurred. Each time, when a demon was killed because of it. The public actually celebrated them. That alone should show how much human society despised demons.

After all, if it weren’t for demons. Most races would actually be able to live in harmony after the Convergence of Realms. Humans especially could prosper without the two wars and the constant threat of the parasites known as demons. They were threats no matter what, imprisoned or free, limbless or healthy. Only a dead demon was a good demon.

There were a few exceptions to the demons he supposed—Audrina and her parents were part of the few that appeared in his mind.

Their entire raid was to kill this demon, while Raymond or Ellen would sneak off somewhere and deal with the Bloody Fang Dragon.

Mobilizing his mana, Raymond casually drew a detailed map of the laboratory using it. A few small gasps of awe at his mana skills arose.

"This is the layout, the entire laboratory consists of three floors in total. The first floor at the top is where we appear after being teleported. The third floor is currently unknown but the demon is being held there."

The first floor mostly consisted of low risk monsters and equipment, creatures that were generally safe to be around and posed little to no threat.

The second floor consisted of the medium-risk monsters. Creatures that posed some danger and could be a threat if handled improperly. The purple Night Blazing Horse was located on this floor.

Finally, the third floor. The high-risk floor, currently unknown. A key card was required to enter, alongside a facial scan. The hallway leading down was also guarded by several cameras, systems and most importantly awakened.

They had wanted to deal with it stealthily, but after a lot of debating.

It just wasn’t possible, if the dragon was located on any other floor. It might have been possible, but the only entrance to the third floor was simply too well guarded.

Don’t think they didn’t try, because Raymond had tried digging through the floor. Teleporting in by estimating the coordinates. Disguising as a guard or scientist. Sneaking in after someone entered.

Every method failed.

After the floors were dug up, extremely thick bedrock appeared. Unlike normal bedrock, most materials on Terra tended to be stronger then their Earth counterpart due to the presence of mana. So Raymond would have to burn an absurd amount of mana to dig through.

The entire facility was covered head to toe in a spatial stabilizer except for the entrance where employees were teleported in. Making teleporting and even casting any of his dimension magic near impossible at his current level.

The scanners were also extremely advanced, able to see through his current magic and detect him if he tried to sneak through after someone.

So their current favourite option was to just go in loud and kick the doors down. The security was still something they could handle, and most of the people within the lab were just regular scientists too untalented to use mana in any proper method.

But also because, with individuals like Zachary, Noelle and Lin Qingyi, attempting anything except for going in loud was like telling someone starving for days on end to restrain themselves when there was a massive buffet in front of them.

Practically impossible for these battle maniacs.

While they were still discussing, Raymond quietly muttered under his breath. "Damn fighting freaks..."

Banging your head against a wall and trying to make the wall talk was easier then convincing them to go in silently.

"Raymond, did you say something?"

"No, just keep talking."

One of them called him out, making him shake his head. Unaware that a certain person whose name started with an E already heard him. An idea forming inside of her head already.

She piped up, "He called you guys losers who can’t do anything and only like to fight."

"Raymond!"

"I didn’t say that!"

Ellen, who was hiding behind Thomas. Flashed him a teasing smirk, so brief that no one else in the room saw it—except for him of course.

"Wait! Why are you guys believing her so easily?!"

"It’s totally believable that you would say something like that. You always decline to spar, and you never show up for any classes that require fighting."

Pretty good logic there, Raymond couldn’t deny that.

"That’s because I don’t show up to most classes. Like at all though?"

"Didn’t you once tell Arthur you hated fighting?"

Damn it Arthur!

That was quite a while ago, when he had admitted to Arthur and only Arthur that he disliked fighting. It didn’t take a genius to know that Arthur had sold him out.

He made a mental note to his list to confront him about this later.

"Okay I might dislike fighting, but I never called you guys losers!"

Their original strategy discussion had long been thrown out the window, now filled with Raymond reflecting each and every accusation that was thrown at him.

In another corner, Audrina and Lin Qingyi stood side by side. One watching with a look of disinterest, while the other watched on curiously. Her mouth opening occasionally as she tried to translate. Unable to understand little more then snippets of their argument.

"What are they saying?"

"...I do not speak your language."

Her only translator was unfortunately, the one involved this time and no one else in the group knew how to speak enough to translate for her.

She sighed, life on Terra was really different from the Wulin realm. The technology was much more advanced, the people and culture was different, and worst of all. The language was different!
