Demons Beside You-Chapter 660 - Chen Zhao Is Eaten?
Ding— Dang— Ding—
Suddenly, everyone heard the sound of metal striking something.
At the end of the path was a half-open door. A red light seemed to be coming from the room.
Chen Zhao and Charlotte exchanged looks. They walked to the other end and carefully pushed the door open.
Peeking inside, the room looked like a forge filled with firelight.
Scorching molten iron was flowing below the holed iron covers on the floor.
Many underlings were forging in the furnace.
“What’s inside?” Haus Mann opened the door.
Chen Zhao and Charlotte could not even stop him in time. Everyone, both inside and outside the room, froze.
“What the f**k are those?” Haus Mann asked, stunned.
All the underlings looked at Haus Mann. Then, they let out a series of strange screams, raising their hammers or red-hot cutters.
Chen Zhao pulled Haus back at once, while Charlotte hit her magic wand hard in the air.
Bubble—
The wand created a few ripples in the air that spread out like water waves.
The surrounding underlings were blasted away immediately. Chen Zhao was rather surprised.
Charlotte was more powerful than he had thought.
“Who are you? What are those things?” Haus asked, astonished.
“Witch Society, witch,” Charlotte said lightly.
Haus looked at Chen Zhao. “The Supernatural Organization? It’s real?”
Chen Zhao did not bother to reply to Haus and instead said to Charlotte, “They’re called underlings. They’re extremely weak.”
“Underlings? Why have I never heard of them before?” Charlotte looked at Chen Zhao, surprised. “Are they magic creatures?”
“Kind of. Only a very small proportion of them possess magical power, but even if they do, they’re still weak and harmless. It’s a good opportunity for Cindy and Alyss to train.”
“Can they even beat them?” Charlotte asked, worried.
She was unsure how strong these underlings were.
Although Chen Zhao had assured her that they were weak, his definition of “weak” could be very different from theirs.
“They’re about as strong as seven or eight-year-old kids. They’re not combat creatures,” Chen Zhao said.
“That weak?”
“Exactly.”
Chen Zhao opened the door again. He lifted his leg and an underling was kicked away directly.
The other underlings rushed forward right away. They were not scared of death.
Just like a bee colony, they would sacrifice anything just to cause a bit of damage to their enemy.
Haus, Kasili, and Hannah were filled with horror.
Nevertheless, like what Chen Zhao had said, the underlings could not be weaker.
Cindy and Alyss cast spells continuously, killing or injuring any underlings hit.
Actually, even Haus, Kasili, and Hannah could kick the underlings to the floor easily.
Nonetheless, there were too many of them. Even though the party had killed or wounded dozens, there was still a green mass behind them.
Chen Zhao grabbed a huge red-hot sword from the side.
Waving the sword, he charged forward and sliced anything in sight.
Immediately, the underlings suffered a great loss.
“Move forward. Don’t stay behind!” Chen Zhao shouted.
Chen Zhao opened a path in the underlings, and the party quickly followed him.
They slashed their way from the start to the end of the forge. Haus and his teammates were utterly terrified.
Finally, they reached the other side. Haus pulled the door and escaped from the forge instantly.
The others followed and studied the new room before them.
Chen Zhao looked at the place. It had probably been a theater in the past.
But now, it had turned into a morgue. Corpses were piled on the floor into a small hill.
Moreover, their clothes were already tattered. No matter how glamorous they had been, all that was left was dilapidation and disorder.
“They are…?”
“The passengers of the cruise?”
“But look at the corpses. They look like they’ve just been dead for a day or two.”
Suddenly, a corpse rolled down from the pile.
“He’s moving. He’s alive!” Haus screamed. Kasili and Hannah were about to help the person up.
“Stop!” Chen Zhao quickly shouted.
Suddenly, the corpse stood up without warning.
It had a pale face, sunken eye sockets, dry skin, and white eyeballs.
Then, the corpse tore its shirt. Everyone saw a bloody cavity in its belly. Something was wriggling inside as if it was infested.
Vomit…
Haus was the first person to throw up.
Kasili and Hannah were in a similar state. They covered their mouths, about to vomit.
Just then, corpses began to roll down the pile one after another, after which they stood up.
All the corpses stood up, revealing the thing that had originally been covered by them. It was a mound resembling the top of an ant nest.
Suddenly, an infested corpse threw up a mouthful of green liquid.
“Ah!!!” Kasili was hit at once. Screaming, her body began to dissolve.
Chen Zhao had a bad headache as he complained, “Isn’t it a ghost ship? What are these?”
It was totally different from his plan. If it was just a ghost ship, Blackie could easily eliminate it.
Had he known earlier that this would happen, he would not have come.
$200,000 was not enough for him to take such a risk.
“Chen, what do we do? There’s too many of them.”
“Forget it. Leave them to me.” Chen Zhao took out the bronze sword.
Charlotte was somewhat surprised. She had no idea where Chen Zhao had hidden the sword or how he had taken it out.
An infested corpse shot some green liquid at Chen Zhao, but his body was covered in Qingyi Armor.
The green liquid could not reach him at all. Chen Zhao severed the corpse’s head in one strike.
But the corpse still stood there, staggering its way toward Chen Zhao.
Chen Zhao frowned. Cutting the head was useless?
Chen Zhao changed the angle and stabbed the cavity in the corpse’s belly.
Indeed, the infested corpse collapsed on the floor and stopped moving.
Realizing their weakness, Chen Zhao cleared the corpses at a much faster pace.
Suddenly, the insect nest burst open. A massive black worm crawled out and attempted to bite Chen Zhao.
“Chen, careful!”
Unable to react in time, Chen Zhao was gripped by the black worm immediately.
“F**k…”
Then, the worm sucked Chen Zhao into its mouth with much force.
Charlotte paled. Chen Zhao was the strongest, but the first to die. She did not expect this at all.
