Demonic Skeleton God-Chapter 49: Disclosure
Chapter 49: Disclosure
Flain stood up and started walking through the city again, pondering what that encounter meant for him. Athrylith had said he wouldn’t help him, but he hadn’t ruled out the possibility of harming him either.
’I won’t interfere with your journey in any way. I might visit you sometimes, but that’s all,’ Athrylith’s voice echoed in Flain’s head.
So, the only thing that changed was that some ultra-powerful being would be bothering him, but otherwise, nothing. Flain was fine with that—at the very least, he might be able to get some information from him when he decided to talk, though he doubted it would be anything crucial.
Flain continued walking through the city, exploring various shops and other places. At the far end of the city, there was a castle with guards patrolling around it. After some time, he returned to the city’s entrance, as the two hours had roughly passed.
He waited there for quite a while before Itai arrived. "It was a hassle to sell, but I managed," he said.
"The bandits’ equipment was easy to sell to the blacksmith, but I didn’t get much for it since the quality was bad. The monster corpses, though, were hard to sell because the only way to do it is through the Adventurers’ Guild. But to sell there, you have to be an adventurer. I could’ve registered, but getting approved would’ve taken up to a week."
"So, I bribed an adventurer to lend me his badge, which allowed me to sell them. But I had to wait for them to evaluate how much they’d pay. In the end, we got a total of 150 gold coins and 5000 silver coins. I suspect that the corpse of that crystal monster was really valuable, because as far as I know, adventurers don’t usually get that much money for just a single-stage monster corpse," Itai finished.
"Is 150 gold coins a lot? It doesn’t seem like much to me. I was in a good weapon shop, and every weapon there cost around 1,000 gold coins," Flain said.
"Then you must’ve been in some overpriced shop. If I lived as a bartender, I could have a pretty comfortable life with 150 gold coins," Itai muttered.
"Just to be sure, explain the currency system to me," Flain said.
"100 bronze coins equal 1 silver coin, and 1,000 silver coins equal 1 gold coin."
"Hmh, alright. In any case, we should buy a map now because I plan to visit the Imperial City," Flain said.
"A map? Why? We have enough money to buy a carriage ride," Itai laughed.

A large man in suit sat in an imperial palace chamber adorned with gold. Someone knocked on the door.
"Enter," he said. A tall man in a suit stepped inside.
"Administrator Iraru Zhen, may I deliver a report that might interest you?" the man asked.
"Go ahead, Marquis Muri Drag," Iraru responded.
"The guards at the entrance of Dungeon 31 have been killed, and the dungeon itself has been destroyed. Additionally, the nearest village has also been wiped out. Interestingly, no bodies were left behind," the Muri concluded.
"What are the assumptions?" the duke asked.
"There are three possibilities. The first is that a monster devoured the soldiers along with their armor, but that monster would have to be intelligent enough to take the artifact from the dungeon boss, as it was not found. The second possibility is that an organization or an individual collected all the corpses. And the third possibility is that a necromancer turned all the corpses into his undead servants," Muri said.
At the end of every dungeon, there is a boss, and when it dies, it disintegrates into dust, leaving behind an artifact. The problem is that when the boss dies, the dungeon collapses as well.
"Hmmm, let me think," Iraru said.
"I believe the second option the most because it seems the most likely. Alright, revive the village and assign new guards to the entrance of Dungeon 31. For now, we won’t take any further action since we have nothing concrete to go on. Besides, the damages weren’t that significant, except for the loss of the dungeon—that was a major setback," Iraru concluded.

"A carriage ride? Alright, if you say it’s worth it," Flain muttered.
"Excuse me, do you know where we could hire a carriage?" Itai asked a passerby.
"Rent a carriage? It’s just a little way straight ahead. You’ll hit an intersection, turn right there, and at the end, near the city walls, you’ll find it," the passerby said.
They followed the directions he gave them. They walked straight, turned right at the intersection, and at the end, they found their destination. A sign read "Carriage Ride Purchase."
The two stepped inside, where a young girl stood behind the counter. Itai explained that they wanted a carriage ride to the imperial city. The girl told them there were four levels of carriages and then explained their benefits. Flain chose the standard, which was level 2.
"That will be 3000 silver," the girl said.
"3000?! That’s an outrageous price. 2000 silver," Itai shouted.
"The imperial city is far. The price is 3000 silver," the girl said.
They argued for a while longer.
"Alright, 2500, but I won’t go lower," the girl finally said.
Itai handed over the money. "It was a pleasure doing business with you," he said.
"Your carriage will be ready in half an hour," she said. freēwēbnovel.com
They waited outside the shop until the carriage was prepared, chatting in the meantime. Flain was thinking about when his sense for magical energy would finally develop fully. He could see magical energy in beings, but he could only tell whether they were stronger or weaker than him, not their stage. It also turned off by itself sometimes.
The carriage was now ready at the city gate, so they set off towards it. When they arrived, they boarded a large wooden carriage.
"Good day. I am Boguto, and I will be your driver today. I wish you a pleasant journey," a deep voice came from the front of the carriage...
