Demonic Skeleton God-Chapter 100: Treasure
Chapter 100: Treasure
Flain was five years old and had not met Denji yet, so he was an obedient slave.
One of the guards was watching him from behind to make sure Flain kept mining and didn’t rest. There wasn’t much of Flain visible from the outside because the small hole didn’t offer much space for observation, so only his legs and the sound of his pickaxe could be noticed.
Still, the guard wasn’t really paying close attention to Flain, because all the guards knew that Flain was an obedient slave and never caused any trouble, so the guard treated it as a paid break. freёweɓnovel_com
Flain mined and mined and mined, a focused expression on his face. His muscles were swollen due to the effect of the stimulant powder he was required to take before mining.
Flain continued mining until he hit something – a small metallic spike sticking out of the wall. Flain was sure it wasn’t radioactive iron because it glowed a pale green color.
He decided to dig it out because it might be something valuable and could interest the guards. As Flain kept mining, more details emerged: metal frames on the sides and hard wood in the center, shaped like a cube with a rounded top.
Flain managed to dig it out completely, and to his surprise, it was a chest. He had expected it to be some kind of metal scrap, as he found those quite often.
The guards told him to dig up anything unusual because it could be valuable, and metal scraps could be smelted into usable material, earning the guards some bonus money for their work.
Flain placed the chest to the side, thinking he would give it to the guard once he found and extracted the radioactive iron vein.
Because if he gave it to the guard now, he would be yelled at for stopping the mining.
Flain continued mining, and after a while, he heard the guard yelling to him. "I’m going on a lunch break. Normally you’d be reassigned to a group of slaves under a guard who already ate, but I don’t think that’s necessary with you."
"But if I find out you were resting instead of mining, you’ll die in hell," he said and spat.
Then Flain heard his footsteps walking away. Flain kept mining, though he was curious about the chest – he knew that if the guard found out he opened it, there would be trouble.
On top of that, if Flain opened it, there would be visible signs, like his fingerprints. He had nowhere to hide it either, even though it was small like a bathroom sink. Flain only wore a cloth covering his groin, and it definitely wouldn’t fit under that.
Flain knew about fingerprints because he had once overheard two guards talking about them and happened to catch what they meant.
So Flain kept mining and ignored the chest because he had other priorities, like finding that radioactive iron vein.
Flain continued ignoring the chest and mining, but suddenly he heard strange trembling sounds behind him.
He turned around to find the source – and saw the chest shaking on its own.
Flain stepped back a little because it startled him; he had never seen anything like that before. He didn’t know whether to call a guard because it could be dangerous.
But if he called a guard and it turned out not to be dangerous, he would go through hell for bothering him, which Flain definitely didn’t want.
So Flain cautiously moved closer to check whether it was dangerous. He looked at it from all sides, but nothing else happened with the chest except that it kept shaking violently, as if something inside wanted to get out.
Flain definitely wasn’t going to touch it or open it because his fingerprints would be left on it, and who knows what dangerous thing might be hiding inside.
Flain returned to mining because if a guard came by, he didn’t want to be caught not working.
Over time, the chest’s shaking intensified and became nearly unbearable for Flain. So he thought that if he gave it a slight tap, maybe it would stop.
Flain picked up a small stone and lightly tapped the chest. It stopped shaking and started to open on its own.
Again, Flain stepped back slightly, frightened, afraid he’d get beaten by the guards for opening the chest, and also because something dangerous might be hiding inside.
The chest opened, and inside was a single item — a large book bound in white leather. Flain didn’t know what a book was, so he was curious about what the strange thing did.
Either way, he refused to touch it because of the fingerprints, and he also thought the thing might be very dangerous.
Flain decided to ignore it and continue digging, hoping he could convince the guard that it opened by itself. Since Flain didn’t leave any fingerprints on it, it should be believable.
Either way, Flain already expected the guard would beat him unconscious at first for not believing him.
Flain swung his pickaxe again, and once more he heard strange sounds behind him — but this time they were different from before. The sound resembled fluttering.
Flain decided to ignore it because last time, paying attention didn’t end the way he hoped.
The sound gradually grew louder, and Flain felt like it was approaching him. So he turned around, and what he saw frightened him more than all the previous events.
In front of him, the book that had been in the chest was flying through the air. Its pages were spread out, gliding through the air in front of Flain.
Flain wanted to run, but out of fear and shock, he froze in place, unable to move at all. The book flew closer, and a pale blue aura began radiating from it.
Flain’s mouth opened on its own, and the blue aura started flowing into it. Flain’s eyes began glowing blue, and bright blue veins started appearing all over his body.
All the blue energy rushed into him, and the book began to disintegrate and fall to the ground. Flain just stood there blankly, with glowing eyes that slowly began returning to normal.
The chest caught fire, and within moments it, too, turned into a small pile of ash...
{Wow 100 Chapters is a lot for me, when you’ve made it this far I really appreciate it. I honestly didn’t know what I was going to make it to 100 Chapters. But don’t worry the ride continues in steep currents 😄}
