Chapter 234: Kaiden vs Fallen Vampire Noble

"BOOM!"

The Celestial Pulses she’d left behind all ignited in tandem, chaining explosions across the battlefield. Moonfire devoured the screaming thralls in a radiant deathtrap.

The heat of Bastet’s oasis, the crackle of Luna’s lightning field, the hum of Aria’s vortex... all converged into a battlefield made hellish and holy all at once.

Nyx didn’t speak.

But her eyes shimmered with trust.

She was already launching her next volley.

He turned to face the vampire husband.

It was time.

Kaiden charged.

Boots crashing against cracked stone, violet arcs of Pride mana danced along his arms as he tore across the battlefield. His target didn’t seem to care, however. The Fallen Vampire Noble stood tall like a lion king, unmoved by the storm raging before him. He made no motion to join the chaos his wives had become engulfed in. Why should he?

His thralls fought.

His wives hunted.

He reigned.

Why not let him sit back if he so wished, and instead focus on killing his wives?

Because Kaiden had already read the truth in his predatory stillness. He wasn’t avoiding combat in reality.

He was waiting for the perfect moment to strike. The moment Kaiden’s team committed to a target that wasn’t him, he would reappear, melting into mist, bats, or worse, and slit their throats before they realized what happened.

Which meant this wasn’t about honor.

It was tactical.

Kill the king, collapse the court.

So Kaiden sprinted forward, and the thralls rushed to stop him.

The first leapt.

*SHRRK!*

Kaiden’s greatsword, Twilight Ripper, cleaved the starving undead in half with the silver alloy hissing on corrupted flesh. His blade burned with seething light.

[You’ve slain Starved Thrall (Level 22). You’ve gained 2,381 XP.]

A second came from the side. He spun, cutting its head clean off.

[You’ve slain Starved Thrall (Level 20). You’ve gained 2,053 XP.]

Another screamed and lunged. He raised his blade, infused it with mana...

*FWOOOSH.*

Using its imbued active spell, a silver-violet crescent arc slash erupted from the blade, carving through two more in a single clean sweep.

[You’ve slain Starved Thrall (Level 23). You’ve gained 2,462 XP.]

[You’ve slain Starved Thrall (Level 21). You’ve gained 2,217 XP.]

The blade’s lifesteal shield perk activated instantly, giving him a shield as there was nothing to heal for now.

He was almost at the vampire.

And that’s when the noble finally lifted a finger to react.

"So eager to die."

The vampire plucked lazily at his nose and flicked something away with mock disdain. "Do you feel comfortable leaving your little darlings behind? They may have flashy tricks, but my wives are older, stronger... hungrier. They’ll butcher those young women."

Kaiden didn’t answer.

"Not going to defend them?" the noble probed, yawning theatrically. "Or are you simply weak? You haven’t cast a single spell. You barely hold that blade correctly. What even are you? Some F-tier swordsman that crawled out of the tutorial zone right into our domain?"

Still, Kaiden said nothing.

Instead... he acted.

He raised his left hand, and sigils bloomed in the air. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

"[Sigil of Domination]," he declared coldly.

A glyph of radiant violet materialized into life before Kaiden’s palm and launched forward, slamming into the noble’s chest and chaining itself to his core.

[Fallen Vampire Noble has been tethered by the Sigil of Domination.]

– Any movement, attacks, or abilities will trigger arcane backlash and mana burn.

– Damage taken from all sources: +10%

The change was instant.

The vampire’s casual mask shattered.

The smirk fell away.

His crimson eyes narrowed with fury as he looked down at the floating glyph that tethered itself to his life force.

"... You dare bind me with this filthy arcana?" he hissed, voice no longer amused one bit.

His posture shifted.

Gone was the lounging predator.

Before Kaiden now stood a wounded tyrant, ancient, elegant, and full of wrath. The air warped around him as corrupted mana exploded to the surface.

His claws extended.

His fangs bared.

"I will rip that sigil from my chest and etch it into your corpse, mongrel!"

Kaiden held his blade in both hands, eyes locked with his opponent’s. Even now, he said nothing. Instead, he lunged.

And then, they clashed.

The vampire didn’t seem satisfied with a clash of claws and steel, however.

As Kaiden lunged at him for a second strike, the noble’s hands snapped together with a sharp clap.

Crimson sigils tore open across the ground, looking a lot like open veins in the stone.

"Feast, my children! [Bloodbind Awakening]!"

His voice echoed with an ancient resonance. Behind Kaiden, the scattered remnants of thralls began to jerk unnaturally. Their bones cracked, spines realigned, and their eyes flared red. Their gnarled claws thickened. Rotten flesh peeled back to reveal twitching muscle wrapped in crimson sinew. Their levels spiked as their forms mutated, bloated by unnatural energy.

[Starved Thrall (Empowered) – Level 25]

[Starved Thrall (Empowered) – Level 24]

[Starved Thrall (Empowered) – Level 26]

... More incoming...

Kaiden’s danger sense screamed.

But so did the Sigil of Domination.

The moment the vampire channeled magic, a ripple of violet energy lashed through his core. The arcane backlash burned through his chest, drawing a grunt of pain from him.

"Ghhn!" He staggered half a step, hissing as his veins lit up violet.

But he didn’t stop. The spell had gone through.

The horde was coming.

Kaiden could feel them behind him.

Dozens. Hungry. Fast.

Too fast.

He could feel their breath. Their hunger. Their claws almost reaching.

So he raised his blade, and the Sin of Pride exploded around him violently.

"[Astral Carving]!"

In that moment, Kaiden’s boots left the ground.

He hovered half a foot off the floor, suspended in an elegant levitation. Violet sigils rotated around his body, interlacing with his limbs as if the arcane itself had taken him into its embrace.

His greatsword ignited with lines of pure cosmic energy. Sharp geometric paths of starlight laced the blade’s edge.

His cloak lifted in the mana wind.

His hair shimmered with radiant arcs.

He rotated his grip.

Twisted mid-air.

The blade glowed brighter and brighter, until...

He swung in a full, devastating circle.
