Chapter 68: Chapter 68: Standoff

Adrain sat in front of his door and looked outside, the street was surrounded by thick fog. ๐™›๐’“๐’†๐™š๐’˜๐’†๐“ซ๐™ฃ๐“ธ๐™ซ๐“ฎ๐’.๐’„๐’๐“ถ

So thick that ordinary people would barely be able to see their own feet, inside that fog he could hundreds of figures.

Leading them were two men dressed like nobles, their every action reflected their nobility.

One of them stood forward with a smile and looked at him with deep red eyes. " Come out."

He shouted and his eyes glowed with red light for a moment, Adrian felt something trying to invade his mind.

โ€™ Compulsion.โ€™ he thought, the vampire looked surprised that he was able to shrug off his compulsion.

Adrian had met this vampire twice before, the first time he smelled like a normal human to him.

In fact he barely caught his scent and so he ignored him, the second time he felt his powerful blood esper.

He immediately knew this was one of the three level 2 barons of this city. Yet not standing before him, he still couldnโ€™t smell him.

Adrian wondered if he had an ability to hide his scent from him, " Why canโ€™t I smell you?" He straight up asked the question.

Both noble vampires were caught off guard, they were used to lying and scheming, they were not used to dealing with somebody this straight forward.

Karon laughed, " Youโ€™re an interesting child, what makes you think Iโ€™ll tell you that?" He asked genuinely.

Adrian stood up and walked towards the door, " Fine then, Iโ€™ll just get it out one of your own."

He stepped outside and faced them, the vampires grinned, they couldnโ€™t enter his house without invitation.

They were just thinking about what to do when he came out himself, " Foolish." Ezell whispered.

Adrain ignored him, his esper blazed and just as they were about to attack each other, multiple auras appeared around them.

They all frowned, the organisation and the witches were here. " Are you going to interfere?" Karon asked threateningly.

" Evil creatures, I care not what you do to each other, your deaths would be a good thing for the world.

However I cannot allow you to wreak havoc where the innocent live." An old man in a gold and white robe appeared.

It was the high priest, the high priest was an occult mage, normally occult mages donโ€™t have esper inside them, they draw it outside of their bodies.

However the high priest had developed a holy type esper in his years of using occult magic to deal with demons and evil.

His aura made both Adrain and the vampires uncomfortable, both races had demon blood and the holy aura made them uncomfortable.

However it was the cross around the priestโ€™s neck that felt more dangerous, a worship artefact that had accumulated prayer for nearly a hundred years.

Behind the priest were a group of monks, " We have interest in this boy so we canโ€™t let you blood suckers have him.

The director of the organisation in this city spoke up, he looked at Adrain and smiled, behind him was Nancy.

She waved at Adrain with a smile and bent over slightly showing him her cleavage but he ignored her.

" How about it boy? If you come with us I promise we can protect you, nobody in this city will touch you."

A feminine voice giggled, " You truly do think too highly of yourselves human." Everybody frowned.

The fog churned and the witches appeared, leading them was an old looking witch with a kind smile.

On closer look, the smile was only directed at Adrain, this witch was also a level 2 and she wasnโ€™t the only one.

There were seven other level 2 witches behind her, their appearance made everybody else frown.

They only thought the witches only had four level 2, not this many. The old witch tapped her walking stick on the ground.

Everybody focused on her, " This is a child of our sister, if you dare touch him, youโ€™ll have sleepless nights, that I can assure you."

Everybody frowned, this witch was famous for her curse magic and nobody wanted to be cursed.

Even if it wonโ€™t kill them, it would certainly inconvenience them, they thought about retreating but the situation was volatile right now.

Nobody wanted to retreat first as that would look like cowardice and nobody wanted to attack first as that might offend the witch and the others.

" Hahaha." Adrain suddenly laughed softly drawing their attention, " Have you all forgotten Iโ€™m standing here?"

His question confused them, they couldnโ€™t understand where a mere level 1 child got so much confidence.

Adrain turned towards the witches and nodded, " Iโ€™m grateful old witch but you donโ€™t have to risk the lives of your sisters.

I can protect myself, especially from these lots." Everybody could sense the disdain in his voice.

They felt anger bubble inside them, especially the arrogant and proud vampires, they had never been looked down upon before.

Especially not by a child less than half a year in age.

" I admire your confidence little boy but are you sure, my sisters and I are willing to lay down our lives for our own."

Adrain felt warmth in his heart but he nodded, " Iโ€™m certain." He replied, the old witch sighed but she didnโ€™t insist any longer.

The witches retreated but everybody could still sense them, they had not gone far and were close enough to interfere.

" Your arrogance will be your undoing little pup." Ezell growled with barely concealed rage.

However his words made Adrain wonder if they know heโ€™s a werewolf but that shouldnโ€™t be possible.

Heโ€™s the first every werewolf, they canโ€™t possible know that. He ignored the growling noble and looked at another vampire.

" Why canโ€™t I smell you?" His voice hit the poor vampire like a sledgehammer, his mind barrier broke instantly.

The difference in their strength was too great even though they were on the same level, the vampire couldnโ€™t resist.

" Itโ€™s because we have wolfsbane that hinders the senses of any canine type Gadra of Fayera."

By the time the vampire broke free of his compulsion, it was already too late.

" I see, I wonder how you knew that would work, I donโ€™t believe Iโ€™ve revealed my species to anybody."

Of course that wasnโ€™t true, the organisation had known he was a wolf of sort since his encounter with Wolf and Vestro.

While Adrain was thinking about where he slipped up, different thoughts ran in everybody elseโ€™s minds.

For the two noble vampires, Adrian being able to compel another vampire meant he was at least close if not equal to them in strength.

That made then grow more vigilant and the humans realised he was more dangerous than they first thought.

" Ca..can I go?" Nancy asked the director with begging eyes, she was absolutely terrified of Adrian.
