I know Karl is ruthless sometimes, but this surprised me quite a bit. "Lizardmen meat, huh? You're even more evil than some of the demons here."

Apart from getting their meat, we can also take their food supplies.

"To be honest, this is normal for me." The blonde-haired man continued. "Do you know of a big company that used to be in the city next door to Silkdale? By selling their products cheaper, they threaten the lives of the small cloth artisans in my city."

"Ah, I've heard about that. The company burned down and got raided until it went bankrupt. That's what you did, huh?"

He just smiled, and I continued walking.

"Lizardmen are so despised because they used to enjoy hunting humans for their food. Well, they haven't done that much lately, though. That was their promise to the king of Durcia, so they wouldn't be exterminated."

"Why doesn't the kingdom just annihilate them all?"

"I don't know. Some say it's because the religious leaders advised against it. After all, lizardmen aren't demons. Some assume that the kingdom is afraid of revenge from them." Karl explained again. "What do you think? Few want their existence. I'm sure there will hardly be protests from your followers."

Maybe Karl's last words were valid. Many people would be happy if the lizardmen were wiped out from this land.

However, it could have had the opposite effect. That could trigger the humans' fear. They will wonder, are they the next ones to be eradicated?

I wanted to maintain the illusion that I was their savior, a great being who would lead them to glory.

"So what do you say, my lord?" Karl asked again. "Well, the biggest obstacle is that we must set up some big cage to trap them in before we slaughter them."

"We have to feed them to stay alive, right?" I stopped my steps again. "That's very impractical. Some of my scientists have methods for preserving various types of food, including meat. So, we can make them all into food in no time."

The population of Lizardmen City wasn't that many, after all. I estimate that it will only take a few days to complete this mission.

And the meat we'll get will be plenty.

Karl clapped. "Great. We just have to think of a way to do that in bulk."

"For now, I'd like to save that method until absolutely necessary. But that is an excellent suggestion, Karl."

He slightly spread his hands. "You're the one who makes the decision in the end, my lord. I'm just giving some of my views."

And there is one more problem. I'm not sure some people in my circle would agree, especially Jude, Lexi, and Velvet. 𝘧𝓇𝗲𝑒we𝙗noѵ𝑒l.𝐜o𝘮

Not long after, Jude came rushing over to me.

"Damn you, Karl. You made me too comfortable with the massage, and you left me." Jude snorted.

"But your soreness is gone, right?" Karl chuckled.

"Sure, but… Ah…." The former religious leader then bowed to me. "Good evening, Lord Vorn."

"You look younger than the last time I saw you, Jude."

"Well, maybe it's because I finally discovered that there are many things I can enjoy in this world." Jude laughed. "And I think this will happen because of the alcohol too."

"I feel bad giving you the task of being a judge." I joked. "You will have less fun time."

Jude laughed again. "But, the fun here is of much better quality! I'm sure I'll still be happy and satisfied!"

"Perhaps you also need to make yourself happier, my lord," Karl added.

I frowned. "What do you mean?"

"I apologize for asking around some individuals here. I concluded that you were overworked and needed to refresh your mind. Yes, you were absent for a few days to heal lady Phisovia, but I don't think it was a pleasant experience. You become tenser instead."

So, Karl had started doing his job before even meeting me, huh?

"But I still have a lot of work to do." I sighed. "I can't afford to be absent again."

Karl smiled again. "You don't have to be away too long. Just a day is enough. The key is that you get away from all of this." ƒ𝐫𝒆𝐞w𝗲𝚋𝗻૦𝘷e𝙡.c𝑜𝙢

"There's going to be a star festival in Marystar town soon, right?" Jude snapped his fingers. "You know, the festival that celebrates the fall of a star to that city."

"That shit festival?" Karl sneered. "Three days of feasting to commemorate stupid folklore?"

"Yeah, that shit festival." Jude shrugged. "However, you can't deny how fun the celebration is. Some things are unique at that festival. You can't find those anywhere, like star cakes, star wine, star knick-knacks, people who only wear stars on their nipples and genitals…. Well, I'm not selling it very well. But, I'll make sure you'll have fun, lord Vorn. Moreover, they said the celebration would be more lively because there's no crime district anymore."

"Yeah, even though the festival is weird, I'm sure you'll be able to refresh your mind by visiting it, your majesty."

I rubbed my chin, thinking about the suggestion. A little refreshing might eliminate my stress and allow me to work even better after that.

A green-skinned Bwister took a long breath while hugging a not-too-large wooden barrel.

"I'm tired of doing this kind of work." He complained. "I want a different job, not monotonous. The lake project in the cave seems interesting."

"Stop complaining." His partner, with deep purple skin like an eggplant, responded. He also brought a similar barrel. "Our task of disposing of the magical waste from those various kinds of research is crucial."

"I know, but… Ah, forget it."

The two worker demons passed through a large rocky area far from the main base. They kept walking until they came to a large pile of trash.

There were various kinds of objects in that, from metal plates, old rags, other broken things, and of course, the wooden barrels filled with magical waste.

"Come on, we still have a lot to bring here." The purple-skinned demon turned around to return to the base.

The green-skinned demon snorted and followed his partner.

Unbeknownst to them, something like glowing smoke was creeping from the gaps in the lids of the recently discarded barrels. The smoke moved slowly to one corner of the site before finally entering the eye holes of a human skull.

Excess magical energy like that makes the skull survive, even though he is basically dead.
