Demon Lord: Erotic Adventure in Another World-Chapter 780: Old Friends and Forgotten Faces
Meanwhile, an intense battle took place outside the cavern, with several beautiful women leading an army of winged avengers.
Serena took the lead, spreading her divine aura like a massive dome, protecting countless valkyries from certain death. Even with sweat and blood dripping down her face and a tearing pain in her abdomen.
"We cannot let them leave, keep fighting!"
Her valiant shout thundered across the sandy battlefield, while she divided her focus between the battle and her husband.
’Where is Asmodeus?! Is he alright... Why can’t I sense his aura?!’
The beautiful empress lowered her chin and muttered to herself.
"Just what is happening inside..."
She shifted her attention back to the two men standing at the entrance, blocking them. One short with messy grey hair, flaming orange eyes and a fuzzy beard.
’That must be Grundig the information mentioned.’
Yet upon looking into his eyes, a sudden, unwarranted pressure crushed her chest. ’But who is the blue male... and how can he summon these crystalline creatures so easily?!’
"Empress?!"
"Serena!"
Various women shouted to her as she held her hand to stop them, turning back with a messy expression. "You girls... are no match for them."
’Why?! What business does he have here?!’
Serena’s expression worsened when the dwarf’s lips curved into a smirk upon noticing her reaction, followed by waving at her.
"Bastard!"
Her eyes became sharper as they narrowed into thin slits as she observed the situation. A simple look around them showed how outnumbered and outmatched they were.
’I have to buy time... but how did they summon so many abyssal creatures!?’
She sucked in her stomach and focused her energy, which created a burst of divine aura, strengthening the damaged barrier.
There was no other way to endure otherwise.
Grundig watched Serena from the peaceful cave entrance, his eyes never leaving her figure, wearing a twisted smirk.
"Heh, to think an old friend would show her face tonight."
The extremely tall male beside him remained stoic, his glossy blue skin covered in scales, with two azure eyes focused on the battle.
"Hey, don’t you have anything to say? She’s the one who denounced our kind and betrayed us."
Once again, the tall male ignored Grundig; instead, he looked over his shoulder and replied with a sigh. His vocal tone was slow, drawn out and elegant, like a retainer speaking in the royal court.
"The rat has broken the barrier."
"What?"
Grundig’s tone instantly shifted; he unfolded his arms and lost the sarcastic smirk, then glared at the blue male.
"What the hell are you doing?! I helped you complete your ascension, and when it comes to mine, here ye are. Holding back!"
"..." The male narrowed his eyes and snorted. "Don’t try to guilt-trip me, Razel."
"Kroyst, don’t make me crush your arrogant skull here and now!" Grundig shouted.
The blue male, known as Kroyst, scoffed and shrugged at Grundig’s anger and turned his back to the battlefield with pristine blue eyes. "Please, do your best. I will stop using my precious little babies to help delay these violent bitches for you, then. Razel. Do not misunderstand my nature as soft."
"Grrr.... Kroyst!"
However, the male continued walking.
"Damn it! At this rate, that fake will ruin everything for me!"
A violent flame billowed from Grundig’s eyes as he watched Serena with the most vile look, his crooked teeth peeking between his lips.
"So be it, Luna. I’ll deal with your beloved husband first."
With those venomous words, he disappeared into the dark tunnel behind him.
"Phew..."
’They’ve gone, but... why?’
Given a moment of recovery, Serena swallowed a deep breath of air as she funnelled more energy into the moon barrier, which vaporised countless monsters made of crystal. The tearing pain spread further, assaulting her organs.
"Empress Serena!"
"Mm, it’s you, Leviathan? I am fine. How are the other brigades?"
Levia straightened her posture before going through the casualties and the current state of their forces.
"At present, brigades led by the imperial knights are faring the best, especially Erika and Vinea. There are two hundred minor injuries, and five seriously injured, but zero deaths so far."
Serena listened to the report, her careful eyes keeping watch for any changes in the situation.
However, she couldn’t help but remain anxious.
’Did they go inside to attack Asmodeus...?’
To her, the lives of the valkyrie meant little to nothing compared to he husband, but he’d trusted her to hold on and take Velvet’s place.
’Why does he make it so hard for me?’
She curled her lips, unable to deny the security of understanding he trusted her despite the mistakes she made in the past, which meant everything.
"Leviathan."
"Hah! Empress, what orders do you have?"
"Take over command outside, I’ll be heading inside."
Levia’s eyes widened as she opened her mouth for a second before closing it without hesitation and nodding. "Yes, Empress!" The paladin then saluted Serena, before taking flight as if to escape.
Serena watched Levia’s back with an amused grin.
"I know why you looked so confused, because their barrier devours divine energy."
She strode towards the entrance, her aura increasing rapidly with each elegantly measured step, like a bomb about to detonate.
’But... I’m not normal. Right?’ Serena asked herself.
There was a strange pulse in her heart, causing it to beat faster.
She spread her arms, allowing the moons at the tip of her tails to devour the surrounding energies recklessly. Mana, divine aura and even the abyssal aura left by the crystaline monsters all streamed into her body through the quickly darkening moons.
The blood moon intensified as she looked up to the dark sky.
’Memories I’d forgotten...’
’Emotions I never thought could be fulfilled...’
’A man worthy of my everything, able to accept anything...’
"But can he accept this?"
Her words trailed off as the darkness she feared a few hours before slowly draped from her neck like a collar, before forming a mantle of ink. Once again, her eyes became blood red, with her hair extended, turning pitch black and fusing with her mantle of shadow.
A pale exoskeleton tucked and covered her delicate body like armour, and the once pure silver tails turned dark, oozing with a mixture of divine and abyssal energies.
Serena observed her hand, turning it over as her nails became like sharp claws, a fox-like mask made of the same chitin protecting her body formed on the side of her head.
’This form, how nostalgic.’
A subtle moan escaped her lips as she stretched her long arms above her head.
Serena took a deep breath, before her pupils shrank and her lips curved, revealing sharp teeth and a foxy smile.
Then vanished without a sound.
.
.
.
Once inside the cavern, Serena sniffed the air as an intense explosion of scents assaulted her nostrils, and her tails fluffed up.
The fragrance of Asmodeus lingered in almost every direction; her heart thumped just thinking about him, now smelling so much of his scent she could taste him, and her muscles quivered in excitement.
Like a beast on the hunt for her prey, she hugged her waist and vanished once again. In rapid succession, her body teleported great distances, bypassing the security at the entrance, the auction gateway and finally she came to a large main hall.
"Oh?"
The scene before her seemed quite interesting.
A familiar woman with tanned skin, blue scales and silky pink hair stood wearing leather armour, a tribal skirt, while wielding a spear.
She led a large number of people from various races while facing Grundig, who stood erect with his hands clasped behind his back and a broad smile.
Beside the mermaid was another dwarf, a young woman.
This small woman pointed at Grundig, shouting in his face.
"How dare you try to steal my father’s hard-earned legacy? If not for him, you would have been rotting in the imperial dungeons!"
Grundig snorted.
"Stupid girl! If not for me, your foolish father and all those old coots would have been slain during the empire’s demihuman culling period!"
"Lun, be careful... he isn’t the same as before."
A dwarf with a messy beard and strong accent pulled back the young woman, stepping ahead with an axe and wearing a shield on his forearm.
While watching, the abyssal energy inside Serena pulsed at her fingertips, just a simple gesture, and she could kill them all and revel in the bloodrain.
’No... I can’t. They’re my husband’s companions...’
Serena clenched her hand tight, digging nails into her flesh, attempting to quell the destructive impulse to just vaporise everyone in the room.
Suddenly, Grundig’s eyes flared as he turned to the entrance, his expression shocked upon seeing Serena for a moment.
"Y-You... how are you using that form?!"
"Hm? What~ don’t you know the truth anyway, you’re not better wearing that corpse like a skin suit, you old pervert."
His shoulders trembled at her words, but he remained smiling.
"Tsk, this damn stubborn dwarf tries to retake control even now!"
"Well, you’re trying to kill his dear niece. Do you enjoy destroying clans and families with intricate links like this now? Oh, wait... this was how you always were. At first, you started small, like a little coward."
"Shut your mouth, Luna!"
The name rattled Serena for a moment, but then she closed her eyes, taking in her beloved’s scent and hugged her shoulders with a faint sigh.
"Sorry, but it’s Serena now~ Since I met my beloved, I have no reason to return to those pathetic days."
"Heh! Delusional bitch, do you think your husband would want a monstrous woman like you for his wife, crazy and lacking all sense of sanity!"
Grundig’s words should have gouged her insecurities, and yet...
Serena cocked her head to the side and rubbed her chin, imitating Asmodeus when he thinks, while curling her lips.
"Ah, but you see Razel..." She teleported beside Nerim, ushering her back and showing a sly grin. "My husband just adores strange women, especially monsters and those with mental quirks."
