Demon CEO's Hidden Love: Mr Grayson Stole Me From My Abusive Husband-Chapter 35: A Dog And It’s Owner
Chapter 35: A Dog And It’s Owner
Back at her club, Serena’s membership had been reinstated, after she handed the bag over to Evelyn. The little squabble between them suddenly became a thing of the past.
"This bag is just as lovely as I imagined, you really have outdid yourself Serena." Evelyn said, petting the bag on her lap.
Serena forced a smile, "Well, I’ve played my part, so will you be deleting that video?"
Evelyn nodded, her eyes still on the bag, "But of course. A deal is a deal, and besides, I wasn’t ever going to post it, I was just messing with you."
Serena clenched her jaw, ’This bitch is lucky we met like this. Had we been neighbors back when I was on the streets...’ her imagination of her beating the daylight out of Evelyn was cut short by a question.
"Now that I’ve taken the bag, what will dear Cassie use?" She asked, trying to gloat some more.
But Serena scoffed proudly, "It’s just a bag, getting a second was no problem for my Cassie."
Evelyn’s eyes nearly popped out the socket, "What?! She has another one?"
"Of course!" She boasted. "The designer and her are close, it’s only natural. While some use underhanded tricks, good things just naturally follow my Cassie."
Evelyn quickly got up and latched onto Serena’s hand,"Ah, you have to get Cassie to introduce us. That designer isn’t easy to get ahold of."
Serena’s phone rang, stealing her attention. She peeled Evelyn’s hand off and took out the phone from her bag. She checked the contact and saw it was Ethan’s work number.
She quickly slung her bag over her shoulder. "If you’ll excuse me, I have other places to be." She announced before leaving the lounge area.
Watching Serena strutt out of the place, Evelyn’s bitterness took root. "How can that classless bitch and her phoney daughter know the designer?"
She narrowed her eyes. "There’s something not right here."
Outside, Serena had answered the call and was told to step out, that Ethan’s car was parked and waiting. On hearing that, she quickly went out to meet him, so as not to incur his wrath.
The driver rolled the backseat window, revealing Ethan, who had a mean scowl on his face. "Get in." He gritted his teeth when speaking.
Serena nodded and did as he said.
Serena dropped her bag on the floor and reclined fully into the chair. She sighed in relief, "Thank you son-in-law for coming to pick me up. How did you know I was feeling tired-"
"Sit up straight." He ordered sternly, not even able to look at her ’classless’ self. "And don’t ever call me that."
Serena immediately straightened her back, not wanting to get on his bad side.
"I came here because I have a job for you."
Serena pointed at herself, "For me?"
He rolled his eyes, "Jen, the file." He ordered his assistant sitting in front.
She took out the divorce papers and passed them to Serena. Serena eyed the document suspiciously, wondering what they were for.
Her literacy was basic, she could read, but not complicated documents which gave her headaches to try and understand.
"W-What is this for?" She asked, flipping through the pages.
"A divorce."
Serena’s jaw hung. "A divorce?" She stared at the papers incredulously. "Please Ethan! Don’t divorce Brooke! She may be a handful, but I’ll smack some sense into her!" She begged, as the car drove away from the club grounds.
This club was an invite only exclusive one, and she had only gotten this chance because of Ethan’s connection to the founders.
If she lost that privilege because of her damned kid...
But Ethan took her by surprise. "Your handful daughter dared to serve me these papers! And then she dared to threaten me on top of it all!" He revealed.
Serena nearly fainted on the spot!
She pinched her temples, ’How much of a fool is that daughter of mine?’
’Does she thinks she’ll bag a man better than Ethan in her puny lifetime?!’
’I wish Cassie had married him instead!’
She turned to a fuming Ethan, "I swear the girl has a screw loose. But I guarantee she doesn’t mean it, someone must be forcing her to do it."
Ethan clicked his tongue, he recalled the fierce look in his wife eyes, ’Was she really being manipulated by someone?’ he thought, considering the possibility.
’It must’ve been the bastard who got her that wheelchair, the one whose been hiding my wife from me.’ he figured, getting angrier at the thought of a random man manipulating his idiot wife.
"Listen here, I’m going to give you one chance to make this right." Ethan said, finally stating his intentions.
Serena beamed with hope and relief, that he wasn’t going to cast them aside.
"Bring my wife back to me, and I’ll forget that this divorce ever happened." He told her.
But Serena was worried, she had no idea where Brooke was hiding. She had called twice since she left, but Brooke didn’t answer.
To her, she had done her best, but Brooke was a grown woman throwing a tantrum.
"Ethan, I don’t think that’ll be easy, she doesn’t answer my calls-"
"I don’t give a damn about that! You’re her mother aren’t you? That should amount to something. Find her, and no matter what means you have to take, bring her back to me." Ethan ordered, then told the driver to stop.
"Get out."
Serena looked at the sidewalk in disbelief."B-But I thought you’d take me home-"
"Are you deaf?!" He punched his car door, startling Serena into dropping her phone.
Glaring harshly he said, "Out of my car."
Serena gulped and widened her eyes at Ethan’s harshness. She gathered her things and got out of the car. Before she could say a goodbye, Ethan’s car swiftly drove off into the distance.
"Brooke you idiot!" Serena cursed and took out her phone, scrolling down her contacts, looking for Brooke’s number.
"I swear the next time I see you, I’ll slap sense into that head of yours!"
Primestar Agency
Sadie inhaled sharply, and stared at the name ’Cassie’ written with bright pink font, over the door of her dressing room.
She clutched the script to her chest, and exhaled slowly, calming her nerves.
That day, Cassie was going to go on a livestream and announce her one year break in career. So it was her last chance to convince her into taking the lead role.
Gently, she knocked thrice, then waited for a response.
"Come in." Cassie’s peachy voice rang from inside.
Sadie opened the door and quietly slipped inside. "Miss Cassie, I’m so glad I caught you in the office. I’ve been meaning to see you-"
Cassie who was in the middle of taking her supplements cut her off. "Did you forget your special greeting to me already?"
Sadie grimaced. She had hoped it would slip Cassie’s mind.
"Forgive me."
"That’s not what I want to hear from you. Do it properly! Now!" She barked at her, losing the sweet tone from earlier.
Sadie swallowed nervously, before she got on all fours and crawled like a dog towards Cassie, the script in her mouth.
"Ahahaha!" Cassie laughed and clapped her hands. "I can’t believe how low you’d stoop?! You really are a bitch!"
Sadie couldn’t even close her eyes, she was afraid she’d cry if she did.
When she crawled all the way over to Cassie, she tried to remove the script from her mouth to give her greeting, but Cassie yanked it out first.
"What’s this?" She raised an interested brow.
"Give it back please-"
Cassie shot her a nasty glare when her eyes sighted the title of the script. She rolled it up and used it to smack the top of Sadie’s head.
"You ungrateful bitch!" She spat out, in-between whacks.
Sadie closed her eyes, swallowing the pain. She knew what would happen if she dared to cry and irritated Cassie’s ears.
"I’m sorry-"
Whack!
"I’m sorry-"
Whack!
"I’m so-" her words were cut short when Cassie extended her foot, and stuffed the tip of her shoe into Sadie’s mouth.
"You think you can land a script without me?! You’re just my dog, I kept you around because you amused me." She told her, over the muffled moans and groans coming from Sadie’s mouth.
"You think you’re an actress now?! Ah! Answer me!" She whacked her head again, this time even harder.
"If I didn’t help you, do you think your mediocre acting could land you a job? Tell me, am I not good enough for you?!" She took her shoe out of her mouth and pulled her by the hair.
Cough
Cough
"You crazy wench!" She tossed her aside like she were a rag doll. "All of you cockroaches are just getting under my skin!" She angrily threw the script at her.
Standing up, she circled to a cowering Sadie and stepped on her left hand with her black heel!
Sadie winced softly, "It hurts-"
"The next time you defy your master, I’ll teach you a lesson. Damned bitch." She cursed, stepping harder on her hand until it bled!
