Demon CEO's Hidden Love: Mr Grayson Stole Me From My Abusive Husband-Chapter 136: The Supplier’s Identity
Chapter 136: The Supplier’s Identity
Brooke raised a brow when Gilbert pulled over at a smaller luxury apartment, and not the Grayson estate.
"Master Grayson, me and Hannah will be staying at the hotel nearby." Gilbert announced, handing the keys over to Thane.
He nodded, "You two get some rest, we leave in less than a week." He informed them.
Both nodded in unison before leaving the couple alone. Thane walked over to the front door and inputted the code, he pushed the door open, and waited for Brooke to wheel through it.
The inside of the apartment was surprisingly simpler than the exterior would suggest. Brooke’s eyes scanned the single setting decor and could guess that Thane had used this space for when he wanted to be alone.
She wheeled over to the desk next to the stairs and inspected the papers laid about. She held up a piece to her eyes, "A building layout?" She raised a brow, wondering when he had such a hobby.
"We won’t be having any maids over while we’re here, I wouldn’t want the family knowing where we are." Thane informed her, pulling out a pink pair of house shoes. He got on one knee and offered to help Brooke change into them.
Slipping her foot effortlessly into them, Brooke made a face, ’These are lady shoes. Why does he have a pair of these here?’ she wondered.
Thane noticed the discomfort in her eyes and immediately stepped away, "Do you want dinner?" He asked, rolling his sleeves up.
Brooke shook her head, "You’re not fully recovered, you should go to bed."
"I’m fine-"
She sighed, "I’m just worried about you. Though it seems I don’t have the liberty to do that for you." She said right before heading for one of the rooms downstairs.
Watching her wheel away, Thane pinched his temples in frustration. He could’ve gone after her, but his mind was occupied when one of his information sources sent him a profiling of Scott.
A very interesting profiling.
Avery hugged the brown paper bag from the convenience store to her chest as she shuffled her pockets for the keys to her apartment.
"Ugh, where is it?" she groaned, her face contorted into a wide frown.
The evening air felt heavy, and a stomach-churning smell wafted through the hallway, but Avery’s mind was preoccupied.
As she crouched down to check under the welcome mat for her spare key, she noticed it was slightly displaced, but her thoughts drifted back to the argument she had with HR earlier. She didn’t think much of the mat, assuming the wind or a neighbor’s pet had blown it out of place.
She retrieved the spare key and stood up, her attention still focused on the futile conversation she had had earlier and Ethan’s menacing presence.
Just as she slid the key into the lock, her phone rang. She immediately answered, placing the phone to her ear.
"The hell, Jen?" she cursed, but before she could continue, the apples she purchased fell out of her bag.
"Shit!" She cursed, getting on both knees to gather them up.
She crawled over to the apple that rolled over to the neighbor’s doorstep and reached to pick it up. "Gotcha!" She smirked, as she got on her feet, wiping the apple against her jacket.
Just as she turned to head back to her apartment, Jen’s urgent voice snapped her attention back to the phone. "Where are you?!" Jen demanded in a loud whisper.
The sound of her lock clicking divided her attention, "I just got home-"
"Don’t go in there Avery!" Jen cried out, but it was too late. The second Avery opened the door, scorching orange and yellow flames welcomed her, engulfing the apartment!
The entire night, Brooke could barely catch a wink of sleep. The bedroom she entered had a plethora of female necessities, ranging from toiletries to night wear.
At first, she tried to convince herself that it was probably a family member who had used this space, but then she recalled that Thane didn’t want anybody knowing where they were.
Which meant only the two of them, and probably Gilbert and Hannah knew about this apartment.
Brooke had a half a mind to confront Thane about the issue, but feared he would shut her down, and that they would get into another fight. She was so overwhelmed with her thoughts that she ended up sleeping at the crack of dawn.
Brooke might’ve not woken up until later in the afternoon, had someone not stepped into the bedroom and splashed a bucket of water on her!
In a snap, Brooke woke up, she pushed her hair back, and wiped her eyes dry. Blinking her eyes open, she found herself gazing at a girl no older than eighteen, holding a bucket of water and a disapproving look in her eye.
"Who are you? And what are you doing here?!" The beauty demanded, her eyes crazed.
Brooke had always thought Cassie was pretty, but she immediately discarded that thought when she cast her gaze on the dazzling young lady, dressed in expensive clothes, with a nice thin, model like figure.
Before Brooke could answer, Thane rushed into the room, shirtless and holding a golf club.
The beauty’s sharp glare softened when she caught sight of him. She tossed the bucket to the ground and went over to him, but Thane ignored her and immediately dashed for his wife. He lifted her off the bed and carried her out of the room, hugging her tightly to his chest.
The younger lady was shell shocked to see him act in such a way. Wasn’t he always so stoic and aloof?
’If Thane reached that way, does that mean she’s his guest? Did I screw up?’ she panicked, biting her nails.
She immediately went after them, but stopped at Thane’s bedroom door, the one place in the apartment that she had never gone into, despite living in the place for over two years.
Nervously, she paced in front of the door, waiting for Thane to come out.
Fortunately, she didn’t have to wait long. Because barely three minutes after he went inside, did he come out, wearing a scowl on his face.
"Outside. Now." He ordered.
She nodded, then followed him downstairs. The first thing she noticed was that he had put on a shirt, and secondly, his anger has calmed down a bit.
"C-" she tried to say something, but her phone rang, cutting her off. She reached into her front skirt pocket and pulled out her flip phone.
She rolled her eyes at the caller ID and immediately silenced her phone. She raised her gaze, only to see Thane already at the end of the stairs, impatiently waiting on her.
"Sorry." She whispered, rushing down the stairs in her thin heels.
Thane opened the door for her, then slammed it harshly after himself.
Once they were alone, he folded his arms across his chest and narrowed his gaze at the blue car parked next to his.
"I’m very sorry for splashing water on your guest, I thought she was an intruder. We two are the only ones from the family who know about this location-" she was saying, but Thane cut her off.
"You can leave, Anna."
Hearing those words, Anna turned pale, "Cousin Thane, you can’t mean that. It was just an honest mistake-"
"You’re no longer welcome here, I only let you stay here because I didn’t make any use of this place. But now that my wife is with me, no one else is allowed to be here." he strictly told her.
But Anna wasn’t having it, she rushed over to Thane’s side and held him by the arm, "Wife? Why am I just hearing my favorite cousin is married? I have to make up for my mistake, please let me go in-"
Thane peeled her fingers off, he reached into his shirt pocket and tossed a small transparent bag to the ground. Recognizing what it was, Anna quickly crouched down and picked it up.
"What the fuck?!" She screamed when she found out it was empty. "Where is it?!" Anna demanded.
Thane hissed, "I let you stay here to escape the family, not to give you a space to use...that!" He said, disgust visible on his face.
"Be glad I was the one who found that and not Maverick." He said.
Anna’s eyes watered and widened in fear, "No, not my elder brother. Please, please, don’t let him know about any of this." She pleaded in a shaky voice.
Thane frowned, "Who is your supplier?"
Anna shook her head, "Listen, I only took them because school’s been hard recently-"
Unmoved he reiterated his question, "Anna, where did you get that?!"
"I swear I barely even use them! Just when the pressure is too much. I swear, so please, just give them back. I can’t have more for another month!" She pleaded, her eyes teary.
Thane pushed his hair back and let out a deep groan, "Since you’re not going to say anything, I’m sending the samples with me to Maverick and I’ll have him run tests to know exactly what it is you’ve been taking." He announced, letting her know he was not letting her off the hook easy.
More than that, Thane had his own suspicions.
’Anna is grandmother’s favorite, she has strict monitoring on who she meets and where she goes. This is the only place she can be without anyone knowing.’ he thought, as he just noticed how much thinner she had gotten.
’A young sheltered granddaughter of the Grayson family isn’t the ideal target for drug peddlers. Which leaves to wonder, just who could’ve put her up to this.’ he deduced.
’And more importantly, why do I have an unsettling feeling in my chest about this supplier.’
