DEMON CASTLE-Chapter 103
Chapter 103 - 103
As Hazard walked along, the ground suddenly trembled. Remembering Mari's warnings, he quickly conjured a shield around himself. The massive fish-like creature's gaping maw and its countless teeth attempting to crush the demonic undead were rendered useless against the protective barrier. Seconds later, finding himself inside the creature's mouth, Hazard saw his magical shield beginning to crack due to the lack of support from the system to reinforce it. He started gathering his magical energy, intending to corrupt the creature from within with miasma, but stopped when the creature's body was split in half. Mari stood there, staring at Hazard with a bewildered expression.
"As a legendary being, you got caught in the trap of an epic creature?" she remarked.
Hazard was surprised. Such a massive and powerful being wasn't just legendary — it was epic, far beyond his expectations. He considered using his inability to fly as an excuse but decided to stay silent and not slow down their journey.
Hours passed. Every hundred breaths or so, Hazard would get caught in these traps, forcing Mari to rescue him repeatedly. Eventually, Mari stopped in her tracks, angrily yelling:
"I thought it was a coincidence at first... but after watching your steps closely, I realized you're deliberately stepping on these traps and not even trying to dodge them!"
Hazard raised his hands in mock surrender."Why would I do that? What do I gain from wasting my magic on shields?"
Mari was perplexed as to why Hazard would act this way. Unbeknownst to her, Hazard was smirking internally. Even though the system wasn't currently accessible to him, he assumed that the rewards for killing these epic creatures would eventually be credited to his account when he returned.
As hours passed, and Mari continued to free him from traps, her anger grew. Suddenly, her expression shifted. Turning to Hazard, she shouted:

"You finally got your wish!"
She leaped into the air, flying upwards at full speed.
"If I were you, I wouldn't stay on the ground for long!"
Hearing this, Hazard glanced around and unleashed his magic, sensing an enormous magical presence moving beneath the earth.
"Damn it!"
He shot into the sky at supersonic speed, ignoring the sound of his bones creaking under the strain. Below, the barren plains quaked as dozens of gigantic fish burst from the ground, flinging themselves into the air. Within seconds, a kilometer-wide area exploded, revealing a colossal, eyeless worm-like creature. Purple blood and the remains of the giant fish churned in its maw, crushed by its enormous teeth. Despite lacking eyes, the creature effortlessly targeted each escaping fish. Even those that managed to burrow into new holes were hunted down within minutes. The creature's speed, combined with the sticky tendrils it shot from its mouth to ensnare its prey, stirred a primal fear in Hazard's soul.
"It's... bigger than before," he muttered.
Mari watched with despair in her eyes."How many of these things are there?" Hazard asked, standing beside her. The creature's magical power mocked the concept of legendary strength, and its combat prowess was terrifying.
"Three. Three sisters," Mari replied somberly.
Sensing a tragic tale behind her words, Hazard wanted to inquire further, but Mari's gaze shifted to the horizon.
"Now that we've used our magic, they probably sensed us," she said, turning back to him.
"Let's see how well you can fly!"
With a sudden burst, Mari shot into the sky, the force of her leap creating a shockwave. Hazard had no choice but to follow, glancing back to see the apocalypse worm seemingly staring at him before vanishing underground.
Hazard was curious about the sisters' story, but there was no one to explain it to him. It would be much later before he learned the tragic tale of three ambitious sisters and the fate that had befallen them.
Elsewhere, at the edge of the apocalypse worms' territory, a three-headed troll stood alongside thousands of other hulking creatures, gazing cautiously ahead. The apocalypse worms — the three sisters — were once near-demigods who sought to create a new pantheon by using their seductive beauty to elevate the law of lust in the Abyss. However, upon discovering their ambitions, the three great factions of the Abyss placed curses and seals upon them. The God of Destruction sealed their divine powers to prevent further growth. The God of Slaughter cursed any who worshiped them with swift death. And the God of Chaos injected his curse into their bodies, triggering cellular mutations that transformed them into creatures no one could believe had once possessed angelic beauty.
The path ahead seemed clear, but for the troll and his massive body, which could easily attract the sisters' attention, the danger was palpable. These creatures had been known to be summoned to other worlds, leaving nothing but ruin in their wake.
The strategist head of the troll finally spoke:"There's more than one... someone else is with him, probably the key to his freedom." It glanced back and forth along the path.
"The road ahead splits into three destinations — the Fallen Angels' Stronghold, the Beheaded Graveyard, and the Cathedral of Destruction. Why is he heading this way?"
