Demi-human Girls Completion Manual-Chapter 950 - 42: A Happy Ending (2)
Heng touched his chin and chuckled, saying,
"Yeah, ’all elves’, right? But the guests from the Holy Land don’t know about this. This time, not only Your Majesty, but the attitudes of several dukes are also ambiguous. Your Majesty has been behind closed doors for so long, yet the dukes haven’t started fighting. I heard that their relationship is even worse than my predecessor’s with Uncle Chun; it shouldn’t be like this."
Uncle Chun gave an awkward smile, didn’t respond, just looked at Fisher who was deep in thought, and said,
"So that’s roughly the situation. Neither Count Heng nor I can openly help you go to the Royal Capital since there are orders prohibiting us from going to the Royal Capital. Even guests from the Holy Land should report to the Royal Capital, but..."
"But we can pretend we haven’t seen you at all. Ask whatever you need, the angels from the Holy Land coming uninvited leave even Your Majesty with little recourse. If the people from the Royal Capital chase you away, you’ll have leverage over them... just don’t forget me if you hear news about the Royal Capital. We’re kindred spirits, you know."
Fisher looked at Count Heng, who was plotting against his own monarch, unsure of what to say. It seemed that they, as well as all other elves, were very curious about the current state of the Royal Capital. The King’s reincarnation was imminent—putting aside whether he would still follow the old ceremonies upon resurrection, the four-year vacuum period during reincarnation was enough for unrest.
Fisher surmised that most uninformed elves were observing, waiting for a definitive announcement of the King’s demise and reincarnation. He glanced back at Helair, who was still unresponsive with her "Ah Ba Ah Ba" mode, showing no intention of agreeing or disagreeing, leaving Fisher to make the decision as he said to Count Heng,
"Alright, thank you both."
"Then let me arrange things. You can only reach the Royal Capital by land. Even us mythical rank elves cannot fly there; otherwise, the Yu Zi Square Axis from the tree would knock us down. It’s very dangerous. I’ll plan the route and the supplies for you. You’ll get to the Royal Capital in two days at the most."
It was Uncle Chun who spoke, taking the task of assisting Fisher and his group. Heng didn’t object, and Fisher, recalling the lethal force of the Yu Zi Square Axis, quickly agreed.
However, thinking further, he considered that they had been chased by the Yu Zi Square Axis before. He wasn’t sure if the Royal Capital was aware of their arrival, so he asked Heng, who first looked surprised at the still "Ah Ba Ah Ba" Helair Angel, then smiled and shook his head, saying,
"So it was you guys chased by the Yu Zi Square Axis last night. To escape its hunt, you’re quite remarkable... But don’t worry; the Yu Zi Square Axis often misfires. Even higher flying birds trigger it often, let alone the Dragon God from the far side who likes to demonstrate its might flying overhead. At those times, the Yu Zi Square Axis fires off like fireworks... Of course, with no effect."
"The Dragon God flies over here?"
"Yeah, he comes to see Lord World Tree. They are siblings and often argue, reportedly hurling invective at each other though we can’t hear their voices... However, after every argument, when they go to the Jianmu Palace for a ritual, the Destiny Bones they burn always show ’ominous’ and ’very ominous’ results... Later, whenever the Dragon God comes, the King just skips the ritual."
"..."
Destiny Bones are akin to the divination methods of ancient humans, except elves seek guidance from Lord World Tree rather than asking the air for advice. If she completely agrees, it’s a ’great fortune;’ if she completely disagrees, it’s ’very ominous.’ In her moods, Lord World Tree wouldn’t agree to anything her offspring said, so the Elf King later stopped asking her.
The conversation continued with further arrangements, and Uncle Chun voluntarily took on all the work of getting them to the Royal Capital. Fisher found Uncle Chun more reliable than the so-called ’kindred soul,’ Heng. Talking about these things seemed to bore him quickly, he’d drink a few sips of wine after a couple of words and soon become drunk as a lord, insistently dragging Fisher outside to look for demi-human species to sleep with.
But after just a few steps, Heng fell asleep, leaving everyone exasperated.
"Mammoth people...nose..."
Looking at Count Heng, unconscious on the ground, Uncle Chun sighed helplessly and gestured to Qiong below, signaling him to have the troops Heng brought with him take him elsewhere to rest. They had been sitting for an entire afternoon, and with the sky outside growing darker, without Heng causing trouble, Hooked kiss and Tangze Asuka, who were seated stiff and sore, stood up, rubbing their backs.
"Thank you so much this time, Mr. Fisher."
As dozens of armored soldiers carried the drunken young Count Heng out, the dancing girl and Qiong in the hall also left, leaving only Uncle Chun and Fisher’s group. As Fisher rubbed his shoulders and stood up, Uncle Chun first glanced at him, then discreetly at Helair behind him, before drawing back his gaze and sincerely bowing to Fisher in gratitude.
He was a mythical species, yet unlike Count Heng who was deliberately reserved, he seemed completely without airs, cordial and polite, naturally evoking trust. No wonder Helair had chosen to land in his territory before.
"No need, I didn’t lose anything, and we achieved our goal."
Fisher returned to Hooked kiss’s side, where Tangze Asuka had been watching him. But when he got close, she glanced away; it was hard to guess what she was thinking.
Uncle Chun didn’t mind Fisher’s lack of intent to engage with him further. Instead, he gazed outside the hall and broached the main issue,
"Alright, today was an opportune time or not, just happened to encounter the troublesome Count Heng. Although the reincarnated Count Heng seems odd, compared to other elves, he’s already considered exceedingly kind. Be very cautious when dealing with elven compatriots later to avoid severe problems. Rest here today, eat something, and after sending off Count Heng tomorrow morning, I’ll discuss the journey to the Royal Capital in detail."
Fisher nodded, while Hooked kiss cupped his hand in thanks to the agreeable Uncle Chun, who returned the gesture. Uncle Chun directed the palace’s waiters forward, and said to them,
"Take good care."
Afterward, he left the hall, heading in the direction where Count Heng had been carried away.
Once he departed, Hooked kiss finally stretched, looking sympathetically at Fisher beside him, patting his shoulder, and saying,
"You’ve had a rough day, Fisher, thanks to you...that Count Heng is downright twisted, even going after so many demi-human species. It’s unfair you had to go along and exchange views. Honestly, I couldn’t stand it!"
"Pfft!"
Helair, who was no longer in her "Ah Ba Ah Ba" mode, suddenly laughed, seemingly reminded of something amusing.
"..."
Fisher remained silent and didn’t respond to Hooked kiss’s remarks, nor did he comment on the afternoon. Instead, he glanced at the waiting waiter; behind him, Tangze Asuka, upon hearing Hooked kiss’s words, silently bit her lip, though in the end, she said nothing.
Hooked kiss, irritated by Helair coming to life finally, rubbed his temples and addressed her,
"Hey, Helair Angel, could you at least say something? Just relying on us to navigate through the elves doesn’t seem right, or is this the arrangement of the Sariel Angel?"
Helair innocently spread her hands and replied,
"It’s just that it hasn’t come to the point where I need to step in, don’t worry. I won’t be vague at critical moments. It’s just that I am not great with words. Besides, you all seem to handle such formalities pretty well; both the process and the outcome were nice and harmonious, truly praiseworthy."
"....."
Hooked kiss ignored him, but Fisher found Helair’s summary quite agreeable since before him, phantom words glowed,
