Demi-human Girls Completion Manual-Chapter 901 - 27: Sin of Reproduction (5.5k)_3
The one speaking is the great Book Knight, Emhardt.
He shivered miserably, as if afraid of the cold, standing on the windowsill, and then finally, with no other choice, took to the air and flew toward a bookshelf.
The Gabriel in the middle of the room held a very high rank, already reaching the pinnacle of the Nineteen Ranks. Even the simplest actions imposed a strong sense of oppression on Emhardt, causing him to find a place to shrink down, praying that Fisher would quickly come to rescue him.
But as he flew, his eyes kept darting to the books placed on the surrounding shelves, like a hungry person facing a plate of delectable delicacies, making it impossible not to gulp.
These books... why do they all smell so enticing... I’ve never read them before...
What on earth do these books talk about, I wonder...
Emhardt floated in mid-air, struggling greatly, casting a glance at those books, and tentatively flew over to the bookshelf. He glanced at the Gabriel Angel who was still floating in mid-air, murmuring and sobbing, then blinked and, unable to control himself, flew toward the books on the shelf.
"Anyway, I’m already locked in here, as long as I don’t go out there shouldn’t be any problem, not reading them would be a waste..."
Thinking self-deceptively, Emhardt then happily pulled a book from the shelf, placing it on the ground, ready to press onto it to read to his heart’s content.
"Hmm, Mammoth People, such a demi-human... Hmm, sounds a lot like the Elephant-man Species of the South Continent, with a long trunk."
"There’s knowledge about human society and rank... In passing, what era is it now, anyway? It should be very early, if the World Tree still exists, it should be before the [First Creature War]... Hmm, that’s at least nine thousand years ago, did humans have a theory of ranks back then?"
Emhardt pouted, staring at the strange characters presented on the open pages before him. The text seemed to be some sort of highly efficient language unique to angels, with golden and unconventional script, seemingly handwritten by a certain angel.
As Emhardt read, he turned toward a peculiar, telescope-like Holy Object placed on the edge of the library, which aimed directly at the ground and could also look toward the starry sea, seemingly used by the Gabriel Angel for cosmic observation.
"Rustle rustle..."
While Emhardt was engrossed in the book, he seemed completely unaware that behind him, a shadowy human-like figure was steadily expanding. By the time he reacted, the entire book he held was suddenly lifted by a strange force,
"Waaa! Let me go, let me go! If you don’t let me go I’ll call Fisher... Waa! He’s really got a knack for dealing with the Lady.... Waa..."
Emhardt spun around in mid-air, mumbling a bunch of words he himself didn’t understand, until several seconds later he finally stopped, dazedly looking around, only then discovering he had been drawn to the center of the many bookshelves, with the terrifying angel holding a crystal looking down expressionlessly from above.
In a flash, cold sweat dripped from Emhardt’s forehead... Well, if he had any. But he was probably very frightened, as he instantly collapsed onto the ground, turning into an innocuous book, feigning death.
"..."
Gabriel stared blankly at Emhardt below, making no aggressive move. Instead, as if afraid of the moving book in front of her, she hugged the crystal tighter,
"Don’t be afraid... don’t be afraid... baby, we won’t look at this ugly guy..."
"What the heck! Who are you calling ugly?!"
The Book Knight feigning death wouldn’t stand for such words. No one could call the great Book Knight ugly; he was a creation of the great Holy Descendants. Calling him ugly was insulting the Holy Descendants, an affront to their dignity. He would absolutely...
Oh, it was the Holy Descendants who had insulted him, then never mind.
Emhardt fell silent instantly, but he looked up to see the terrifying angel in front of him hugging the crystal while turning around in mid-air, completely turning her back to him, genuinely looking like she was frightened by his ugliness.
"...Hmph, the great Book Knight can’t be bothered with you."
In a very small mutter, Emhardt whispered and, seeing that Gabriel seemed to have no intention of paying attention to him, he carefully and gradually moved outside, ready to fly over to the books he had just been reading.
But behind him, Gabriel, floating in mid-air, slowly turned around again, lovingly looking at the crystal she held warmly in her arms. Vaguely within, an indistinct, small shadow was curled up,
"Sweet... sweet... baby..."
Emhardt glanced back at Gabriel behind him and, after waiting two seconds, flew toward the book once more.
"Creak, creak, creak, creak!"
But at this moment, an incredibly terrifying sound suddenly came from outside the library, as if the world was ending. The terrible heat scorched the ether ocean enveloping the Holy Land, conveying the ear-splitting, colossal noise of the sun’s high temperature.
"Boom, boom, boom!"
All the bookshelves of the Sixth Day began to shake, the surrounding transparent windows instantly blinding whoever looked out with the sun’s light, making Emhardt squint uncomfortably,
"What the heck, so bright!"
The Sun Ring of the Fifth Day began to operate, yet Emhardt did not know what was happening below. He stayed in Gabriel’s library, worried about Fisher’s situation.
"Don’t be afraid... don’t be afraid... baby... ooh... baby..." 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
The entire library shook violently, with Gabriel, at the pinnacle of the Nineteen Ranks, being frightened pale by the immense sound of the Sun Ring’s trembling. Her eyes reddened as she attempted to cover the eyes and ears of the crystal she held, afraid that the glaring light outside would frighten her child, but she couldn’t find any eyes or ears to cover on the smooth crystal.
This torment only intensified Gabriel’s trembling and fear, her anxiety manifesting as the hundreds of phantom eyes floating behind her turning entirely white, seemingly signaling her dread and unease.
"Don’t be scared... it’s okay... don’t cry... don’t cry... baby..."
Emhardt glanced back at Gabriel, who was hugging a stone in panic. Though there was no crying he could hear, the exceedingly bright sunlight outside made him sigh. He flew to the library’s windows, biting the curtains and pulling them down one by one, until the dazzling light from all directions was blocked out. Only then did he rest, panting, on a bookshelf,
"Ugh, I’m really fated to suffer. Wandering half my life, not to mention being caught by that terrifying guy Paimon, and just when I was doing better beside Fisher, he gets captured... I can’t! The angel next to him is Paimon! I have to rescue him... whenever that guy shows up, there’s always trouble. Please, keep your composure and don’t get involved with her, I’m begging you... sigh."
Only now, still muttering about Fisher, was Emhardt’s hardship known to none. But at least Gabriel, now shielded from the blinding sunlight, had calmed down somewhat...
Whether it was an illusion or not, her empty and sorrowful eyes finally trembled a little, her murmuring finally calmed, and the phantom eyes behind her reverted to their original beautiful form,
"Baby... so sweet... sweet..."
