Chapter 102: Chapter 102: He Has Been Waiting for You All Along

Thea Lynch was so straightforward that Silas Cheney felt a bit embarrassed to speak.

He changed his usual relaxed tone and stammered, "It’s because of Third Brother, but..."

From Sean Bell, he learned that they were all together that night. So Silas had probably found out about the situation between her and Ian Preston.

Thea lowered her eyes, her tone devoid of emotion, and said, "If it’s because of that matter, Fourth Brother doesn’t need to say anything to me."

She thought Silas was here to persuade her. "Feelings are simple, you either like or don’t like, Fourth Brother, be careful with your words."

Silas was stunned, he sighed helplessly and said, "I’ve decided not to interfere with this matter, and I’m not here for that."

He and Sean Bell each chose sides, yet felt conflicted.

He leaned a bit more towards Third Brother, but didn’t want to directly meddle in Third Brother and Thea’s relationship. In contrast, Sean Bell was always stirring things up.

What Sean Bell was really thinking, he didn’t know.

Things have turned out like this, to be honest, it wasn’t what he had hoped to see.

"So what does Fourth Brother want to say?"

Thea was puzzled.

There was silence on the other end of the phone for a while before Silas’s voice sounded again, "It’s nothing, why don’t you come back first."

Thea raised her eyebrows, a bit surprised.

That evening, Thea returned to Coronet. Silas came to pick her up at the train station parking lot.

After getting in the car, Thea glanced sideways at him, having not seen him for just a couple of days, Silas seemed much more haggard.

"Fourth Brother hasn’t been resting well recently?"

"More than just not resting well." Silas smiled wryly, "I haven’t really slept these past two days."

Thea: "..."

"Insomnia? I have some calming tea, do you need it?"

"No, no." Silas held the steering wheel with one hand and waved gently at her.

"If it was just insomnia, that’d be easier to handle, alas."

The main reason, Silas didn’t say, but judging by his expression, a lot has probably happened in these two days.

On the way back, Thea didn’t speak again, and Silas drove directly to her apartment.

"I’ve already communicated with Valiant about the company matter, you don’t need to worry about it anymore." After stopping the car, Silas mentioned the result of the group chat to her.

"This matter is considered settled; Foreman Chandler will return to the company tomorrow. There wasn’t any punishment for his company this time."

"Hmm."

Thea nodded, although she didn’t plan to let the matter rest as it was, "Did Valiant mention who sent the screenshot?"

Silas: "Anonymous email, hard to trace."

"I’ve let Lao Gao keep an eye on it, he’ll notify you first thing if there’s any result."

"But you and Foreman Chandler shouldn’t try to find this person, especially you."

Upon hearing this, Thea tugged at her lips, "Alright."

"Then I’ll head back now." 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

She unbuckled the seatbelt, taking her bag out of the car.

Silas also got out of the car, helping her with the suitcase.

"Fourth Brother, drive safely." She stepped back, providing space for him to reverse the car.

Silas stood still, slightly turning his body, and hesitated as he looked toward her.

"Is there anything else?" Thea relaxed her shoulders, her eyes filled with fatigue, "Fourth Brother, just say it."

Since she was still in Riverbend, Silas hesitated in their phone calls, wanting to say something to her.

Until now, seeing his expression, if he didn’t speak, he’d probably lose sleep again tonight.

Thea didn’t want him to be too troubled.

"I honestly don’t know how to start." Silas took a deep breath, visibly uneasy.

This was a side of him rarely seen. Thea gulped back the words on the tip of her tongue and replaced them silently, "Say it then."

"That night, after Third Brother left your place, Sean Bell and I took him out for some drinks."

"Initially, it was just to let him vent a bit. You know well, Third Brother rarely shows his emotions, but keeping everything inside is not good either."

Thea lowered her eyes, standing silently to the side. She didn’t react to Silas’s words.

Seeing this, Silas exhaled, "Third Brother was hospitalized that night. Still hasn’t been discharged."

"..." Thea suddenly raised her head.

Finally saying what he wanted to, Silas didn’t feel relieved. Facing Thea’s shocked look, he had a bitter smile, "There’s nothing serious wrong with his health."

"Third Brother told us not to tell anyone, even Aunt Rong doesn’t know. They all think Third Brother is on a business trip abroad."

"If you’re available, maybe go visit Third Brother."

"I don’t know what you talked about that night, but Thea, Fourth Brother swears, Third Brother genuinely has pure feelings for you."

"All the years you were abroad, Third Brother was actually always there for you, visiting tirelessly every month."

"When you decided to have surgery abroad, Third Brother stayed at Glyndorn for a week, sweeping the shrine before dawn every day, just to pray for your safety."

"Later when he learned your surgery was successful, and you could take off the hearing aid, Third Brother immediately visited Big Brother and your parents to tell them the good news."

"Knowing you faced racial discrimination at school abroad, Third Brother flew over immediately to resolve it with the school."

"In places you couldn’t see, he’s done so much—a man of few words, his affection for you resides in these little details."

"Thea, can you see it?"

What Ian Preston did, few knew.

Silas was among the rarely informed.

Seven years, from when Thea went abroad until now, for a full seven years, he never stopped.

Just like when Thea first moved to Westmere, Ian Preston rushed back from abroad to take care of her.

In these seven years, Ian Preston had always been by her side, trying to personally attend to every matter related to her.

"Thea, I don’t know what misunderstanding exists between you and Third Brother, what happened back then is unclear to me."

"But over these years, having been with Third Brother often, I can feel the sincerity of his love, even as a man."

"I know you’ve already realized the house belongs to Third Brother. Actually, when you first got into college, Third Brother had started researching your field."

"That’s how Stratus came about later. He hopes to provide a conducive work environment for you to excel."

"This residence you’re living in now, the entire complex was one of Third Brother’s investments."

"The other unit on your floor, Third Brother kept vacant, just so you wouldn’t be disturbed by neighbors."

Silas: "From when you first went abroad, Third Brother was already prepared for everything, waiting for your return."
