Defy The Alpha(s)-Chapter 795: Kill Adele
"You fucking bitch!" Micah snarled, ready to lunge at Ziva.
"Ah, ah, not so fast, brother."
What followed was a scream of pain from Adele and the sickening sound of flesh sizzling as the healer cried out in agony.
Micah’s attention dropped instantly and that was when he saw it.
A thin garrote wrapped around Adele’s neck, pulled tight from behind. The wire bit into her skin as Ziva tugged on it intentionally.
"Wolfbane," Adele whispered hoarsely to Micah.
Micah’s eyes flashed with murderous rage.
Wolfbane.
The bane of every werewolf’s existence.
"You animal," Micah spat, though he forced himself to stay still even while every instinct inside him screamed to rip Ziva apart and free his mate.
"Oh please," Ziva scoffed. "Enough with the name-calling. We both know you expected me."
"Yeah," Micah shot back coldly. "I thought you’d come for me. Not my mate. And certainly not bring down the entire ward and risk the lives of every student in this school."
Ziva laughed lightly, brushing the accusation aside.
"Not my fault I don’t share the same sentiment as you." Her eyes gleamed with cruel amusement. "And let’s be honest, you probably underestimated me."
She shrugged casually.
"After all, what could a kid like me possibly do? Throw a few spells here and there?" Her smile widened. "Quite unfortunate I don’t give a damn if every soul in this school turns into zombie dinner."
Her fingers slid slowly down Adele’s cheek.
"Or if your lovely mate dies."
A low, feral growl rumbled from Micah’s chest.
"Hand me my mate, Ziva," he said darkly, "and maybe I’ll be generous enough to let you walk out of here alive."
Ziva rolled her eyes.
"I’ll say the same thing. Where is my sister?"
Her gaze sharpened.
"I can’t seem to track her. And from what I’ve gathered, you and your lovely mate here—" she tightened the garrote slightly, forcing a strained gasp from Adele "—were the last ones seen with her body."
"Your sister is alive," Micah replied. "She’s recovering."
"Good," Ziva said immediately. "Then hand her over."
Micah tilted his head.
"You know I can’t do that. Not until I find out what one of you was doing in Roman’s room."
Ziva sighed dramatically.
"Well, I guess we’ll do this the hard way."
This time she didn’t pull the garrote herself.
The wire began tightening on its own.
Magic.
Adele screamed in pain as the wolfbane bit deeper into her skin.
"Adele!"
Micah moved with supernatural speed, but Ziva was ready. She flicked her wrist and a
violent blast of force slammed into Micah’s chest and hurled him across the room. He crashed into a row of desks and chairs, the furniture splintering under the impact.
Micah groaned, clutching his chest.
Ziva smirked.
"When it comes to long-range attacks, brother, you’ll never beat a witch."
"Meow."
The sound was so sudden Ziva spun around.
A small cat stood in the doorway, staring at her calmly.
Ziva frowned.
Where the hell had that thing come from?
"Get lost," she muttered, kicking toward it to scare it off.
But the cat did the opposite.
Instead of running away, it calmly walked toward her.
"I said get lost."
Ziva had no patience for distractions, especially not a stupid furball. Micah would recover any second now and the last thing she needed was to be dealing with an animal.
She needed Laura.
It was quite unfortunate she couldn’t kill Micah. He was Father’s beloved son after all. But killing his mate? That would be satisfying as hell. Watching him drown in grief and heartbreak would almost make up for everything.
The next moment happened so fast it barely registered.
One second she was trying to kick the cat away and the next, the cat launched at her face.
Claws exploded across her skin as the creature attacked viciously.
"Ahh!" Ziva screamed.
She staggered back, grabbing at the animal as it clung to her head like a demon. Rivere in his cat form, hissed and clawed wildly, digging into her cheeks and scalp.
"Get off me!" she shrieked, trying to tear it away.
But the cat held on stubbornly, ripping at her skin with its claws. Across the room Micah saw his chance and moved instantly.
The moment Ziva finally managed to rip the cat off and hurl it across the classroom, Micah was already in front of her.
He was so fast she didn’t see it coming until his claws slashed across her stomach and
blood sprayed across the floor.
Ziva screamed, stumbling backward as pain ripped through her abdomen. Her eyes widened in shock.
What an unfortunate turn of events.
The murderous look in Micah’s eyes told her everything.
He was going to kill her.
When his hand lunged forward toward her chest, aiming straight for her heart, Ziva reacted instantly and grabbed his wrist.
The two locked into a brutal struggle but Micah was far stronger. His claws edged closer to her chest inch by inch.
Ziva’s breath grew ragged as panic crept into her chest. If he reached her heart, he would rip it out. So with the last strength she had left, Ziva forced a quick spell out through bloodied lips.
It was a desperate move but it worked.
Instantly, a brutal headache slammed into Micah’s skull. It felt like his head was splitting open from the inside. Micah groaned, his grip weakening as pain shot through his brain. Black dots flooded his vision. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
His strength vanished and then his knees buckled. Micah collapsed.
Ziva didn’t waste a second. Clutching her bleeding stomach, she turned and ran knowing her life depended on it.
The pounding inside Micah’s skull vanished with Ziva’s departure, the magic spell losing its grip over him. He pressed a hand to his temple, grimacing as he forced himself upright.
Adele was still tied to the chair, and he moved immediately.
"Adele," he said as he dropped to one knee beside her. "Are you okay?"
Her head lifted weakly.
"Get me out of this," she croaked.
Micah’s jaw tightened.
He grabbed the thin wire biting into her throat and tore it away in one swift motion. The wolfbane garrote snapped free with a sharp metallic twang.
Adele sucked in a painful breath as the pressure vanished.
Micah didn’t stop there. He reached for the ropes binding her arms. The ropes had been woven with Wolfbanes, its poisonous effect designed to weaken any werewolf who touched it.
Micah ripped the bindings loose anyway, unaffected by the burn as he tore the ropes apart and pulled them away from Adele’s wrists.
Finally free, Adele slumped forward but Micah caught her before she could collapse to the floor.
Her neck was glaringly red where the garrote had cut into her skin. Angry marks circled her wrists as well where the Wolfbane-laced rope had rubbed them raw.
Micah’s chest tightened at the sight.
He carefully slid an arm beneath her legs and lifted her into his arms.
"We’re going to the heal... " he stopped mid-step as it dawned on him.
She was the healer.
Damn it.
