Deceiving Her Ears: Ignoring Your Call-Chapter 63: Isaac Vaughn’s Sign Language: Don’t Be Afraid, Little Ear
"Hey, sister-in-law." Ethan Vaughn smiled and raised a hand in greeting.
Natalie’s face turned cold.
He immediately went, "Ah," apologizing: "Wrong name, sorry."
He apologized with his mouth, but there wasn’t a hint of apology on his face.
Leaning on his cane, Ethan stepped forward two more steps and said, "I’m here to find Isaac. Since he’s not around, can I go sit at your place for a while?"
As he spoke, he gestured to his leg. "You see it yourself—after all, it’s not convenient for me."
Natalie was surprised—Isaac Vaughn came to Seaharbor?
When did that happen?
She glanced at Ethan, then turned to enter the door code.
Ethan hooked his lips in a smile. "Thanks. My leg, really, I can’t stand for long..."
"Bang."
The door shut.
The smile on Ethan’s lips froze before it could disappear.
He’d been shut out by Natalie.
His expression instantly soured.
This Natalie really is Isaac Vaughn’s woman—just as stone-hearted as he is.
About ten minutes passed.
Isaac came out of the elevator, holding a bouquet of fresh, gorgeous roses.
No need to guess who they were for.
As he looked up, he saw Ethan actually standing at Natalie’s door.
"What are you doing here!"
He strode over in big steps, subconsciously glancing at Natalie’s door.
Ethan sneered coldly, "Quit looking. If I could get inside, would I be standing here?"
Isaac narrowed his eyes with a dark, stormy gaze.
Entering the unit, Isaac tossed the flowers onto the coffee table.
Behind him, the "tap tap tap" of Ethan coming in with his cane.
"If you need to fart, do it, then get lost."
"Tch." Ethan sat down on the sofa, placing his cane aside.
He hadn’t lied to Natalie—his leg really hurt if he stood too long.
"Isaac, I’m still your brother, after all."
Isaac shot him an icy glare.
Ethan raised both hands. "Alright, alright, a big brother needs a big brother’s tolerance, right?"
"I’m getting engaged next Monday. It wouldn’t look good if you weren’t there. Outsiders might gossip that we’re at odds—bad for the Vaughn family."
Isaac let out a cold laugh.
So the engagement was really happening.
Seems things were going smoothly with the Huxley family’s eldest daughter.
Seeing Isaac remain silent, Ethan went on, "Even if you refuse, Aunt Vanya, as Mrs. Vaughn, will have to attend. It’ll just trouble her more."
"Shut up!" Isaac’s eyes blazed with rage at Ethan, as if he wanted to tear him in two.
Back then, Ethan had gotten his mother’s unborn sister killed—his mother was left unable to bear children ever again!
But because his father wanted to please Ethan’s mother’s family, all he did was send Ethan away for five years—living well, food and drinks, not a scratch.
Why?
Ethan Vaughn, the murderer!
Isaac only regretted that, for now, he still didn’t have the power to make Ethan pay.
"In any case, I’ve delivered the message." Ethan grabbed his cane. "See you at the engagement party, then."
With that, he left on his cane.
——
Natalie had just finished changing clothes when the doorbell rang outside.
She opened the door, surprised at who was there.
"Why are you—"
She hadn’t finished before Noah Sinclair cut her off, pleading, "Miss Kendall, please let me say a few more words. I really can’t just give up like this."
But Natalie replied coldly, "How did you know I live here?"
Unless he’d been stalking her.
Realizing this, her face turned even colder.
"Mr. Sinclair, I have nothing to say to you."
Saying that, Natalie tried to close the door.
But as she did, Noah suddenly stuck his foot in the doorway.
She looked at him in shock, saw the viciousness already on his face.
Then he forced his way in, slamming the door shut behind him.
Natalie was driven back into the living room, immediately trying to grab her phone from the coffee table to call the police.
Noah saw what she wanted and snatched the phone before she could.
"Nat, I just want to talk, that’s all!"
His eyes blazed, breath coming in hard bursts, "Why can’t you just listen? I won’t hurt you."
Natalie watched him warily, quietly stepping back. She tried to keep a safe distance, but not so much she’d push him over the edge.
"Fine, talk. I’m listening."
Noah calmed a little when she said that.
"Nat, you think we don’t belong because you still don’t know me well enough. We’re the most perfect match." 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
Noah couldn’t wait to pour his heart out: "Only I can accept your imperfection with my entire heart."
At the word "imperfection," Natalie’s expression turned icy, hands clenched at her sides, face blank. "I don’t need your acceptance."
Noah’s mask of passion finally shattered, revealing frantic, extreme possessiveness beneath.
"You don’t need it. Hah! Don’t need it."
As he spoke, he stared at her with a menacing glare, coming closer step by step.
——
Isaac opened his door to leave, just as the door across the hall opened as well.
He curved his lips in a half-smile, about to speak—when he saw Noah Sinclair with his arm around Natalie, walking out in an outrageously intimate way.
Noah locked eyes with Isaac’s icy glare, looking startled. "Second Young Master Vaughn? What are you doing here?"
"I live here." Isaac slammed his door shut with a bang, sneering, "Is that a problem?"
Noah frowned but said nothing, motioning to take Natalie away.
At first Isaac was angry at how close Natalie and Noah looked—but he quickly sensed something was off.
He quietly trailed after them as they walked toward the elevator.
Noah glanced back at him, wary.
Just then the elevator arrived.
But Noah didn’t step inside with Natalie; instead, he said to Isaac, "After you, Second Young Master Vaughn."
Isaac got in, noticing Noah had no intention of following.
He held the ’open door’ button. "It’s not overweight—come on in together."
Noah smiled. "No, I suddenly remembered something I forgot upstairs. Nat and I will go get it. You go ahead, Second Young Master Vaughn."
He said this, pulling Natalie away with him.
As Noah turned, Isaac caught a glimpse of Natalie’s fair ear.
Where was her hearing aid?
He stepped out of the elevator in one stride.
Isaac blocked Noah and Natalie’s way.
Noah immediately tightened his grip on Natalie, glaring sharply at Isaac.
Isaac guessed Natalie was likely being held against her will.
He signed: Little Ear, don’t be afraid.
In that instant, Natalie felt her panicked heart settle, just for a moment.
"What are you doing, Second Master Vaughn?" Noah didn’t understand sign language—his voice tinged with anxiety, he urged, "Weren’t you heading out?"
Isaac’s lips lifted with a fake smile. "I just remembered, I forgot something too."
Noah took Natalie back to her doorway, but lingered, not going in.
Isaac asked from behind, "What’s wrong? Forgot the code? Need me to tell you?"
"What?" Noah turned, confused. "How would you know Nat’s door code?"
