Chapter 43: Chapter 43: Do You Want Me to Tear Your Wedding Dress in Front of Everyone at the Ceremony?

"Isn’t this a bit rushed?" Vanessa blurted out instinctively.

A wedding is an extraordinary event for every girl.

As a woman herself, she couldn’t help but speak up for Natalie.

"Wouldn’t this be unfair to Nat?"

"It does feel like we’re wronging Kendall. But don’t worry, Kendall, the Grant family will go all out to make this wedding happen."

Old Mr. Grant’s tone sounded somewhat apologetic, but he was clearly determined to have the wedding first.

After speaking, he looked at Natalie with hopeful eyes, waiting for her answer.

Natalie maintained an indifferent expression, showing no sign of resistance.

"Nat has always been sensible, she won’t mind." Julian suddenly spoke up. "Since it’s Old Mr. Grant’s wish, let’s just do it."

Old Mr. Grant was delighted.

Now that Julian had spoken, the matter was settled.

Still, appearances had to be kept up.

"Kendall, what do you say?" Old Mr. Grant pretended to ask her, "If you have any concerns, just mention them."

Just as it had been when they first arranged this marriage.

Her wishes never really mattered to them.

Yet they still had to put on a show of asking.

Natalie was about to speak when she suddenly felt a cold, piercing gaze from someone, making her skin prickle.

She paused.

"I have no objections."

In the end, she heard herself answer like that.

After that, everyone started simply discussing the specifics of the wedding.

Even though it was Natalie’s wedding, she barely existed in the moment.

No one noticed her quietly slipping out of the hospital room, phone in hand.

After her call with the teacher, Natalie didn’t want to go back.

She was planning to find a place to get some air, when someone grabbed her wrist.

She stumbled as she was dragged into the adjacent emergency stairwell.

"Are you happy to be wearing a wedding dress?"

Isaac pinned her against the wall, his cold fingertips grazing her face.

In his eyes now was a fierce and menacing darkness.

Natalie didn’t dare say anything to provoke him, afraid he might lose control.

"I can’t refuse."

"Ha!"

Isaac let out a cold laugh.

The hidden relationship was one thing—sneaking around had its own twisted pleasure.

But now there was going to be a wedding.

Her and his uncle.

Fuck that!

"Want me to rip your dress to shreds in front of everyone at your wedding?"

His cold, vicious words made Natalie stare at him, eyes round.

"Isaac, cut the crap! You know damn well what this is between us..."

"What about it?" Isaac pressed closer, pupils reflecting her pale, delicate face. "Hmm?"

Natalie looked back at him with calm indifference.

"It’s shameful. Us—what we have is shameful."

Shit!

Isaac really wanted to strangle her.

——

"So, your aunt’s going to have a wedding with your uncle?"

Franklin finished speaking, and Isaac kicked him hard.

"Fuck!"

Franklin’s drink spilled everywhere.

He opened his mouth to curse, but seeing Isaac’s gloomy expression, he swallowed back the insults about his ancestors.

Isaac drained his glass, pulled out his phone, found his chat with Natalie, and refreshed the thread.

Nothing. Not a single message.

The little deaf girl didn’t have a heart, after all.

"Isaac, seriously, you should just hurry up and get a divorce. If the wedding goes through, it won’t be long before you’re married for real. Better not let things slip out."

"Then I’ll make sure it doesn’t happen."

"What do you mean? What are you planning?"

Franklin was really afraid of Isaac now.

Of all people, he had to mess with his uncle’s fiancée.

If it was just for fun, whatever.

But the more he watched, the more he felt Isaac was in way too deep.

This could be really bad.

"Listen, Isaac, you can’t be reckless. If your dad finds out about you and your uncle’s fiancée, he’d skin you alive. And your mom—she’d be heartbroken."

Isaac paused, glass in hand, his eyes clouded over.

——

Vanessa was handling all aspects of the wedding.

The past two days, she dragged Natalie everywhere to look at wedding dresses.

"Madam, Miss, these are our store’s most popular wedding gowns."

Vanessa flipped through a catalog.

"Our designer just received an award abroad. Some of these are her latest creations—no one’s worn them yet."

"Really? Let me have a look."

Vanessa perked up and pulled Natalie closer, asking, "Nat, what do you think? This is a once-in-a-lifetime wedding, you have to choose the most beautiful gown."

Natalie just said anything Vanessa picked was fine.

Vanessa selected three dresses for Natalie to try on with makeup.

"Aunt Vanya."

The boutique door opened, and Jessica entered with a smile.

"I’m not late, am I?"

"Not at all. Jessica, come see—what do you think of the three I picked for Nat?"

Jessica was the bridesmaid Vanessa found for Natalie since she didn’t have the right person herself.

Vanessa assumed Natalie and Jessica got along well after meeting last time.

"They really suit Nat."

Jessica said, looking at Natalie with a mocking glint in her eyes.

Natalie lowered her gaze coolly and went to get her makeup done.

Each of the three wedding dresses needed a different makeup look and hairstyle to see the effect.

After a while, Jessica came over.

The makeup artist happened to be out fetching something.

Jessica looked at Natalie in the mirror, arms crossed, smiling. "I can’t wait for the wedding. It’s going to be so much fun."

Seeing her itching to watch drama, Natalie kept a blank face and didn’t reply.

Jessica leaned closer, hand resting on Natalie’s shoulder. "I’m your bridesmaid. On that day, I’ll stay by your side every second and make sure the wedding goes smoothly."

Natalie met her gaze in the mirror, looking at her with the indifference reserved for a random bystander entertaining themselves.

Like punching a cloud.

Jessica, annoyed by getting nowhere, turned and left, face cold.

After two hours of makeup and half an hour of fitting, Natalie finally tried on her first wedding dress.

Two staffers helped her onto the round platform behind the curtain.

One of them dramatically pulled the curtain open.

Natalie lifted her eyes, just in time to catch the gaze of the man behind the curtain—with those dazzling, fox-like eyes.

Isaac’s face was full of shock and wonder.

He hadn’t expected her to look like this in a wedding gown.

So beautiful it made him speechless for a moment.

The strapless design showcased her curves perfectly, her graceful neck and collarbone glowing like porcelain.

The shimmering skirt made her look like a celestial goddess fallen to earth.

"Miss, your husband is absolutely stunned by your beauty," teased a staffer.

Natalie’s cheeks turned a faint shade of red as she watched Isaac’s tall figure step closer and closer.

"Baby, what brings you here?"

Vanessa returned after finishing her call, surprised to see her son.

She then gasped in awe at Natalie on the platform. "Oh my god! Nat, you look absolutely gorgeous in this dress!"

The staff nearby immediately echoed: "Absolutely—Miss Kendall looks stunning in this gown! Her husband was totally mesmerized when he saw her!"

"What?" Vanessa was taken aback. "Her husband?"

The staffer smiled and gestured toward Isaac: "Right there. Miss Kendall’s husband."
