Deceiving Her Ears: Ignoring Your Call-Chapter 3: Your Girl
"It’s me."
Natalie Kendall decided not to lie and deny.
Scott Quinn was evidently quite shocked, his face twisted.
The cigarette burned his fingers, he hissed and flicked the butt toward the wall behind Natalie Kendall.
The extinguished cigarette butt fell at her feet, she lowered her gaze to look, her voice low and calm, "I’ll head back first."
Scott Quinn stopped her.
From an angle Natalie Kendall couldn’t see, his eyes flickered with coldness.
Being preempted by Isaac Vaughn was quite a blow to him.
He had suffered a loss, he needed to regain his ground.
With these thoughts, Scott Quinn lowered his voice, "Nat, if you leave now, I’ll lose face. By the way, I have some leads on that surgery."
Back in the private room, Scott Quinn and Natalie Kendall walked in side by side.
Everyone looked at each other, those who understood, understood.
It wasn’t anything other than Isaac Vaughn and Scott Quinn both fancying the same "dish," but Isaac Vaughn was the first to make a move.
But in their circle, you eat mine, I eat yours, it’s very normal.
Only those who can play openly can play together.
"Quinn, skipping out on drinks, huh? To hell with you!"
"Isn’t this deserving of self-punishment with three glasses?"
"Come on, let’s do this!"
Scott Quinn settled Natalie Kendall, then went over and downed three drinks in one go amidst cheers, whispering a few words with a friend beside him.
The friend cast an ambiguous glance in Natalie Kendall’s direction and stuffed something into his palm.
Scott Quinn, with a stern face, downed another drink, then returned to Natalie Kendall’s side.
"Nat, have some juice."
——
Scott Quinn took his eyes off for a moment, and she was gone.
Just as he frantically searched everywhere.
Natalie Kendall was wandering aimlessly in the parking lot.
She hadn’t expected Scott Quinn to be a beast, actually drugging her!
Dizzy and with her body feeling hot, she felt as if she had just come out of a sweat room.
She felt her way around from car to car, until suddenly a blue spot entered her vision.
Her mind so muddled, Natalie Kendall couldn’t recall whose car it was, only instinctively going over to pull the door handle.
To her surprise, the car was unlocked, and she really managed to open the door.
She climbed into the car and shut the door.
In the vacuum-like quiet space, there was only her heavy breathing and heartbeat echoing.
But it wasn’t long before Scott Quinn’s face suddenly appeared!
Natalie Kendall’s heart skipped irregularly, instinctively holding her breath.
Outside the car, Scott Quinn’s face looked like an evil spirit peering inside, almost stuck to the glass.
His eyes were dark and ominous, constantly moving his head back and forth, trying to see more clearly inside.
Natalie Kendall swallowed hard, suddenly realizing that the car windows should have a privacy film.
The person inside could see out, but the person outside couldn’t see in, so Scott Quinn couldn’t spot her.
Even with this, she dared not let her guard down.
Side windows could have privacy film, but not the windshield.
As long as Scott Quinn moved to the front of the car, he’d discover she was inside.
Natalie Kendall took a deep breath and exhaled, spotting a men’s jacket, she grabbed the jacket, locked the car from the inside, and covered her upper body and face with it.
In an instant, the cool, masculine fragrance from the jacket enveloped her, she huddled under the clothing, feeling a bit moist, as if her body had water seeping outward.
Outside, Scott Quinn, unable to peer in, frowned and was about to leave to check another car.
Suddenly hearing the sound of locking, he immediately knew someone was in the car!
He tried forcefully to tug the car door but to no avail as it was locked inside.
"Damn!"
He cursed and suddenly thought of something, striding to the front of the car.
Through the windshield, he indeed saw someone curled up on the passenger seat.
The person was wrapped in a men’s jacket, with the face unseen. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
He wasn’t sure if it was Natalie Kendall.
Scott Quinn slapped the hood forcefully, intimidating the person inside.
Under the jacket, Natalie Kendall bit her lip, remaining motionless, as if asleep.
Scott Quinn saw no reaction, growing angry and frustrated, continued to slap twice more.
A normal person would have come out to curse by now.
Playing dead — definitely guilty conscience!
The muffled sound drilled into Natalie Kendall’s ears, she trembled, curled up, and unconsciously started sniffing the scent from the jacket on her.
At this moment, the cool, neutral scent seemed to have an inexplicable calming effect.
Just as Scott Quinn was about to slap a fourth time, a languid male voice sounded, "What ya doing?"
Scott Quinn turned around.
Isaac Vaughn wasn’t wearing a jacket, his ash-gray shirt casually unbuttoned at three places, revealing his clavicle, giving off a reckless and detached vibe.
Scott Quinn pointed at the blue Bugatti Veyron, "Second Master Vaughn, is this your car?"
"What else?" Isaac Vaughn lazily flicked his eyelids, "If it’s not mine, then whose could it be?"
Scott Quinn bit his lip, forcing a smile without feeling it, and then pointed at the person on the passenger seat, "Is this your person?"
Isaac Vaughn’s gaze fell inside the car, he let out a "ha" and smiled.
"It is — maybe?"
He elongated the tone, making it ambiguous.
Scott Quinn’s face changed slightly, controlling his tone, "Nat is missing, I’m looking for her."
Isaac Vaughn raised an eyebrow, "So?"
Before Scott Quinn could reply, he posed as if suddenly enlightened, "Oh — got it, you think the person in my car is your — Nat."
Scott Quinn showed no expression.
Isaac Vaughn curled his lips, "Alright, let me help you see if it is."
With that, he unlocked the car door, sat in the driver’s seat.
His eyes caught sight of the small woman on the passenger seat, her pale fingers tightly grasping the car seat, exerting so much force her fingertips were pale.
He reached over and pulled the jacket away.
In an instant, he met a pair of moist eyes.
The next second, he covered the jacket back.
Isaac Vaughn rolled down half the window and threw two words outside.
"Not her."
Scott Quinn didn’t believe it.
He moved to the front passenger door, wanting to confirm for himself.
But before his hand could touch the door, Isaac Vaughn hit the gas pedal, the car roared to life, driving off, leaving Scott Quinn swearing in place.
The car drove out of the parking lot, Isaac Vaughn fully opened the window on his side, the wind cut through, he turned to look at the small woman continuing her "playing dead" act on the passenger seat.
"Not worried about suffocating?"
No response.
He clicked his tongue and forcefully pulled the jacket away.
Beneath the jacket, Natalie Kendall’s face flushed, lips bitten red by herself, seemingly enduring immense pain.
Isaac Vaughn understood something, coldly withdrawing his gaze, looking forward, and pressed harder on the gas.
——
A dim room, the bedside lamp casting an ambiguous glow.
A dark fragrance floated in the air, causing hormones to rise continuously.
The man’s warm large hand grasped the woman’s slender wrist, that wrist seemed as if a bit of force could snap it.
Isaac Vaughn was kissing Natalie Kendall.
She resisted uneasily.
Isaac Vaughn impatiently clicked his tongue, near her ear, his voice hoarse and sexy, "Why pretend? Wasn’t it you who initiated just now?"
Natalie Kendall shook her head.
"Ring!"
The phone suddenly rang.
Isaac Vaughn reached over and picked it up.
After seeing who was calling, he actually answered the phone under those circumstances.
Scott Quinn’s furious voice came through, "Where’s Natalie Kendall!"
