Chapter 27: Chapter 27: Just Married and Already Want a Divorce?

Isaac drove to Franklin Finch’s villa and called him: "Bring it down."

"Come up and get it." Franklin stood on the second-floor balcony, waving the thing in his hand, grinning like he deserved a punch.

Isaac said "OK," revved the engine, "Open the elevator."

"..."

Franklin was really scared of this guy.

He brought the thing down, crouched to check, and saw Natalie sitting in the passenger seat, signaling to Isaac with his eyes.

"I’ll be right back."

Isaac said to Natalie, then opened the car door and got out.

Franklin pulled him aside, looking suspicious and uncertain: "Isaac, are you sure about this?"

"No shit." Isaac took the thing from him, checked it, and made sure it was fine.

"We’re going to get the certificate now."

"Fuck! Aren’t you..." Franklin felt like he needed to take a shit but was stuck at the door, ruffling his hair into a mess. He glared at Isaac: "Do you even know what marriage is? You’re just gonna do it!"

"Isn’t it just—I’ll sleep with her from now on, all legal and proper."

"Shit! So all this just so you can legally sleep with your little aunt, huh!" Franklin gnashed his teeth.

Isaac smirked, patted his shoulder, "I’m off, bro."

——

Walking out of the Civil Affairs Bureau.

Natalie lowered her head, staring at the red booklet in her hands, feeling like she was floating on clouds—unreal.

Isaac saw her in a daze, opened his arms and pulled her in, "What are you thinking about?"

Natalie looked up, honestly said, "There seemed to be a lot of people queuing at the divorce counter."

If we lined up now, it would take forever, right?

Hearing what she meant, Isaac let out a laugh from anger: "Already wanna get divorced right after you get married?"

He pulled the red booklet out of her hands, "Confiscated. So you won’t be thinking about divorce all day long."

Natalie stared at him, very seriously asking, "Isaac, you really want to marry me?"

"We already did."

Isaac pulled her into the car, and as he leaned over to buckle her seatbelt, he kissed her on the lips.

"Are you hungry? Let’s get something to eat? What do you want?"

Natalie pressed her lips, "Anything."

Isaac started the car just as Vanessa called in.

"Baby, where are you?"

"Outside."

"Grandpa is here, we’re at your place."

"Okay, I’ll head back now."

"Baby, do you know where Nat went? Her phone is off."

Natalie pulled out her phone and saw that it was dead.

Isaac turned to look at her, "Maybe the phone died. What’s wrong?"

"Your grandpa wants to see her."

*

Isaac came back with Natalie, saying he ran into her downstairs. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

Natalie explained her phone ran out of battery.

Old Mr. Grant called her over, gentle and caring: "Kendall, were you scared last night? That bunch of foreigners are absolutely lawless!"

"Sorry," Natalie apologized.

Old Mr. Grant comforted her: "It’s not your fault. Jason was seriously hurt, but the doctors say with a month of rest, he’ll be fine. Your wedding won’t be delayed."

Natalie’s eyes flickered.

Vanessa asked Isaac, "Weren’t you supposed to take care of your uncle? Where did you go?"

"Had to do something."

"What’s more important than your uncle?" Vanessa sounded a little pissed.

Isaac glanced at Natalie sitting beside Old Mr. Grant, speaking casually: "Got married."

Like a bolt from the blue.

Natalie jerked her head up, staring at him in disbelief.

Is he insane?

"What kind of nonsense is that?"

Vanessa came to her senses and smacked his arm, furious.

Old Mr. Grant chuckled, "Isaac, stop being mischievous. Look how you scared your mom."

Vanessa pouted, hand on her chest, trying to calm down, "Seriously, scared me to death."

Isaac spread out his hands, sounding helpless: "I’m serious. Just got married. The marriage certificate is still warm."

He actually pulled out two red booklets from his pocket.

Natalie instantly went weak in the limbs, her heart almost jumped out of her throat.

She wanted to rush over, snatch the certificates, and toss them out the window, so that neither Vanessa nor Old Mr. Grant would see them.

She also wanted to throw Isaac out with them.

What the hell is he trying to do!

"Baby, you..."

Now Vanessa was really stunned.

She reached out to grab the booklets to check if they were real, but Isaac didn’t let her have them.

"Isaac." Old Mr. Grant’s face darkened, "This is no joke."

Isaac sighed, "Grandpa, I’m really not joking."

Old Mr. Grant hesitated, "Isaac, are you serious?"

"Yes, I am."

"With whom?" Vanessa questioned him, "Who did you marry? You don’t even have a girlfriend."

Isaac and Natalie locked eyes.

The latter looked pale, body visibly tense, so nervous she was about to snap.

Isaac said lazily, "Just someone I thought looked pleasing. So I married her."

Vanessa still didn’t believe it, gritted her teeth, "Fine, then when your grandpa’s birthday comes up in a few days, bring her with you."

*

Old Mr. Grant rushed over overnight and hadn’t slept at all. After Vanessa sent him to the guest room to rest, she was going to the hospital to see Jason.

"Nat, help Jason pack some underwear and his toiletries."

"Okay."

Natalie agreed and went home.

She plugged in her phone to charge, then went to the guest room.

Jason’s stuff was thrown everywhere, a complete mess.

She found some underwear and was about to grab them when a hand suddenly reached from behind.

"I’ll do it."

Isaac casually grabbed a few pairs of underwear and stuffed them into the bag.

Natalie turned around to look at him, expressionless.

Isaac flicked her nose with his finger, "What’s wrong?"

Natalie: "What are you really thinking? In a few days, it’s your grandpa’s birthday. What are you planning to do?"

Without waiting for Isaac to answer, she turned around and walked toward the bathroom, saying as she went, "Hire someone to pretend to be your wife and take her back."

She definitely wasn’t going back with him.

Even though she’s married him, she had no intention of making it public.

"What do you mean?"

Isaac followed her into the bathroom, leaning against the door frame to watch her.

Natalie put the toothbrush and razor into the bag, looked up, and shot him a cold look through the mirror.

Isaac shamelessly leaned in and hugged her from behind, "You’re my wife. Naturally, you should come back with me."

Natalie was momentarily speechless.

He really pissed her off so much she couldn’t speak.

"Are you out of your mind? Go back with you? How do you expect me to do that?"

Isaac grabbed her shoulders and turned her to face him, twirling her hair with his finger, "Just wear a wig, do some makeup, and dress in a style you never wear."

He cupped her face, leaned down, and kissed her lips, "No one will recognize you."

"I don’t want to." Natalie pushed him away coldly.

She wasn’t going to do such a risky thing.

Besides, he made it sound too easy.

How could she not get recognized?

Thanks to Isaac and his craziness, they’d been married less than two hours and they were already in a huge fight and giving each other the silent treatment.

Natalie and Vanessa went to the hospital with the stuff and ran into Julian Beckett.

"Nat, do you have a minute?" Julian glanced at his watch, "I’m heading back to Janton in an hour, let’s talk?"

Natalie didn’t know why she suddenly felt a bit nervous.

The two of them found a milk tea place near the hospital.

Julian must have been in a real hurry—he didn’t beat around the bush, just asked directly: "There’s a guy named Scott Quinn. Recently, you had someone take a few nude photos of him. What did he do to piss you off?"
