Deceiving Her Ears: Ignoring Your Call-Chapter 196: Can I Have a Wedding Invitation from You?
"No need."
Natalie Kendall set down a document and casually picked up a new one to browse through.
"We can talk later, hon," Lucas Lowell said and then kissed the phone screen twice before hanging up. He looked at Natalie and asked, "How long have you been single again? What’s the deal? Not dating anymore because Second Master Vaughn is going to be locking up his heart?"
Natalie really wanted to throw Lucas out.
In fact, that’s exactly what she did.
Bang! The office door slammed shut.
Lucas almost got his nose broken outside.
He touched his intact nose, grumbling as he walked away.
——
The Grant Group.
Reception room.
Lucas finished his second cup of coffee, hearing the door open, he didn’t even turn his head as he spoke sarcastically, "Busy President Vaughn finally made an appearance, I’m so full from coffee I don’t need lunch."
"Cough, cough, I’m sorry."
Isaac Vaughn approached, "Got a little delayed by some business."
He coughed a few more times as he spoke.
Lucas noticed his flushed face, clearly he’s running a fever.
He looked rather pitiful.
But there’s always something hateful about a pitiful person.
Being Natalie’s good friend, Lucas felt Isaac deserved no sympathy, whatever state he’s in is his own fault.
Thinking about this, Lucas lazily pushed the contract forward.
"Knowing you’re busy, here I am visiting in person."
Isaac sat down, picked up the contract, and glanced through it.
"No problems, right?" Lucas propped his chin in his hand, "I won’t take up too much of your time, sign it and I’m out."
Isaac said "No problem," but suddenly changed the topic, "I heard Mr. Lowell’s wedding is next week?"
"Yes, it is."
Lucas froze for a moment and answered.
Isaac coughed into his fist as his eyes started to water, "I wonder if I could ask Mr. Lowell for an invitation?"
Business is business.
Now Lucas and Isaac have a partnership, so sending an invitation would be appropriate.
But—
Lucas stated bluntly, "Sorry, it’s not convenient to invite President Vaughn. You know the relationship between Natalie and me, she’s definitely attending my wedding."
"Honestly, President Vaughn, I’ve lined up several groomsmen for her on the day, she can choose freely, it’s not necessarily about finding someone, young people, just getting acquainted."
"As her ex-husband, your presence might upset her. If she’s not in the mood to pick, then all my efforts will be wasted."
Isaac’s face turned from red to pale.
Lucas felt he had avenged Natalie and smiled contently.
Five minutes later.
Lucas left with the contract.
Isaac hadn’t signed.
But he wasn’t worried.
This time he came to Isaac, next time it’ll have to be Isaac coming to him.
Given The Grant Group’s current situation, finding willing partners is a reason to secretly rejoice.
He’s not worried about Isaac not signing.
As he reached the elevator and pressed the down button, he heard footsteps behind him.
"Mr. Lowell."
Lucas turned to look at Isaac, speaking coldly, "President Vaughn, is there anything else?"
"Cough, cough. Mr. Lowell, I’ll concede two more points on the contract if you can give me a wedding invitation."
Hearing Isaac’s offer, Lucas was truly stunned.
Is Isaac out of his mind?
Just for an invitation?
Lucas didn’t think Isaac was being friendly, desperate to attend his wedding, it was obviously about Natalie.
——
Lucas and Mia’s wedding was held at Janton’s largest hotel.
Natalie arrived early, first visiting Mia in the rest area. After taking photos together, she went to find Lucas.
Lucas had nervously downed four or five glasses of water and held her hand tightly when he saw her.
"What do I do, what do I do? Natalie, I’m about to throw up from nerves!"
Natalie chuckled, just about to reassure him when Lucas said, "I have something to confess to you."
