Chapter 192: Chapter 192: Make Him Bleed a Little

Veronica hung up the call and glanced at Natalie, only to see her staring straight ahead, focused on driving, completely unaffected and showing no big reaction at all.

Veronica sighed softly in her heart.

"Are you hungry? There’s a little diner up ahead, the food’s really good. Want to give it a try?"

Veronica nodded, "Sure, let’s try it. You know, come to think of it, I really am hungry."

"Okay."

Natalie parked the car in front of the diner.

Since there were no parking spots at the entrance, she let Veronica get out first and went off to find a place to park.

Just as Natalie drove away to park, Veronica got another call from Isaac.

She told Isaac that she was having lunch with Natalie, gave him the address, and by the time Natalie came back after parking, the two of them walked into the diner together.

They ordered two dishes and a soup.

When all the food arrived, Veronica took a taste and praised Natalie for picking a great place—it was exactly her kind of flavor.

Veronica ate very happily, even having two bowls of soup.

After the meal, when they came out of the diner, they saw Isaac standing by the door smoking.

No one knew when he had arrived, and he hadn’t gone inside.

The moment he saw them, he stubbed out his cigarette and walked over.

"Grandma."

He called out to Veronica, then looked at Natalie.

The words "Little Ear" got stuck in his throat.

Now, he didn’t have the right to call her that anymore.

Natalie kept her gaze somewhere else, without looking at him.

Veronica’s eyes flickered between the two of them, then she said to Isaac, "It’s rare these days for Kendall to do this old lady a favor—one call and she rushed right over."

Hearing that, Isaac couldn’t help but look at Natalie with more eagerness in his eyes.

Veronica was his grandmother, and he and Natalie were already divorced.

Honestly, she didn’t have to come.

The fact that she showed up—was it because of him, even a little?

Even if it was one in ten thousand, he was grateful enough.

"Thank you." Isaac’s voice was hoarse as he said thanks to Natalie.

Veronica looked at her grandson, annoyed by his spinelessness.

But seeing how Natalie handled her defiant grandson, she couldn’t help but feel secretly pleased.

"Just a thank you with words?" Veronica slapped Isaac on the shoulder. "Not a shred of sincerity."

Isaac chuckled, "Then what do you suggest?"

Veronica turned to Natalie. "Kendall, I’m going back tomorrow. I want to do some shopping today—do you have time to keep me company?"

Before coming to see Veronica, Natalie had already scheduled her afternoon plans for tomorrow instead.

"Of course."

Veronica then turned, speaking to Isaac in a commanding tone, "You can be our driver."

Isaac couldn’t have asked for more; he could barely keep the smile off his face.

"Okay."

Veronica said she wanted to shop, and headed straight for a luxury store.

Natalie was a bit puzzled—based on what she knew of Veronica, this wasn’t really her thing.

Sure enough, Veronica wasn’t picking things for herself, but for Natalie.

"Kendall, what do you think of this one?"

A bracelet worth hundreds of thousands, the trendiest style right now.

Before Natalie could speak, Veronica pointed at another necklace, easily over a million. "This one seems good too."

As soon as she finished, Isaac behind them already couldn’t wait to pull out his card.

Natalie frowned and reached to stop him, but Veronica pressed down her hand, "Let him spend a little."

Isaac swiped his card and the items were wrapped and handed over to them.

He took the bags and looked at Natalie, when suddenly his expression changed.

In the next second, Natalie’s arm was grabbed from behind.

Then a surprised male voice sounded, "What a coincidence!"
