Deceiving Her Ears: Ignoring Your Call-Chapter 172: Little Ear, Will You Come Again Tonight?
The doctor had barely left after making his rounds, not giving Natalie a chance to "wake up," when the door to the hospital room was pushed open again.
"Timothy?"
Seeing the person who walked in behind Ansel Vaughn, Vanessa Grant exclaimed in surprise.
"Vanessa."
Timothy Vaughn nodded slightly to greet Vanessa.
"What are you doing here? Aren’t you in Seaharbor?"
"Our hospital is doing a few joint surgeries here, so I’ve been transferred over for a few days." Timothy said, "Just happened to run into my brother, and heard Isaac’s been hospitalized?"
As he spoke, he glanced at the hospital bed—empty, no one there.
Vanessa pointed to the companion bed beside, "Isaac hasn’t woken up yet."
Timothy looked over and said with a smile, "You two make a lovely couple."
Vanessa couldn’t help but show off in her tone, "We’re doing great."
Timothy suddenly sighed, "Actually, I still owe Isaac’s wife an apology. Isaac came to me before, asking me to help operate on one of her relatives. At the time, I didn’t expect the two of them would end up together, so I didn’t manage to make time for it."
When Vanessa heard this, she frowned slightly, "So... how did that relative turn out? Are they okay?"
"No idea," Timothy grew more awkward as he spoke.
Which made it all the more obvious that as a doctor, he cared little for his patients’ outcomes.
If only he hadn’t brought it up.
Vanessa quietly pursed her lips and said blandly, "Let’s go out, don’t bother them."
Timothy quickly agreed and headed out first.
Vanessa hooked her arm through Ansel’s and muttered under her breath, "Timothy still thinks he’s got the nerve to talk about this."
After the three left, the ward quieted down.
Natalie opened her eyes, looking at the man in front of her; he was pretending to be asleep just like she was.
Her voice was cold: "Let go."
As soon as she spoke, Isaac knew he couldn’t keep faking it. He could only fake a yawn as he withdrew the arm wrapped around her.
But as soon as Natalie got out of bed, he wrapped himself around her from behind again.
His strong arms circled her waist, and he buried his face in the small of her back.
Like an oversized dog, begging for affection.
"Little Ear, will you come again tonight?"
He knew she’d have to go to Beckett Group, so he could only hope she’d stop by after work, even if just for a while.
But Natalie never once said if she would come back tonight before she left.
Isaac sighed and picked up his phone to dial a number.
"Bring her here."
He spoke in a cold, detached voice.
Soon, a bodyguard brought a tearful Sarah Sutton into the room.
"Young Master Vaughn!" 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Sarah tried to step forward, but the bodyguard blocked her way and didn’t allow it.
She knew this was Isaac’s order.
But she didn’t understand.
Why was he treating her like this?
Isaac leaned against the bedhead. After several days of treatment, he looked a lot better. And having Natalie with him the night before, his face was more flushed than it had ever been—no longer ghostly pale, like when he’d been chained in that room.
"I’ll send you abroad. You can choose any country. I’ll give you enough money so you’ll never worry about food or clothing there."
"No..." Sarah blurted out instinctively.
But Isaac cut her off: "You want to refuse?"
He looked at her, his eyes void of any warmth, cold and merciless: "Are you sure?"
Sarah was speechless.
She’d made a mistake.
She thought that if she left Jason Grant with Isaac, she’d get what she wanted.
Only now did she realize she’d been foolish.
Isaac cared so much about Natalie—how could he ever allow her to stay?
After dealing with Sarah, Isaac waited for his parents to return.
"Baby, where’s Nat? She left?"
Isaac nodded and asked his mother, "Where is he?"
Vanessa knew her son was asking about someone else.
"Don’t worry, sweetheart. Your uncle did what he did—I won’t let him off easy!"
"Where is he?" Isaac turned to ask Ansel Vaughn.
He knew Jason Grant was probably being looked after by his father.
After what Jason did to Natalie, Isaac had to handle it himself.
