Deceiving Her Ears: Ignoring Your Call-Chapter 160: Did I Allow You to Give Him Food or Water?
Mia slightly furrowed her brow, "Mr. Lowell, I don’t quite understand what you mean."
"Heh, don’t understand." Lucas Lowell walked around the table and approached Mia.
He was a head taller than her, and when he leaned over to stare down at her with a sense of pressure, it made her very uncomfortable.
She instinctively wanted to step back, but as soon as she moved, he grabbed her arm.
His grip was strong, mixed with a subtle anger that she didn’t understand.
"Mr. Lowell."
"What are you playing at with me? Really don’t understand or pretending not to?" Lucas demanded, staring into Mia’s eyes, "Could it be you have a sleepwalking problem and don’t even know it yourself?"
Sleepwalking?
Who?
Her?
Mia was stunned.
Suddenly, she processed what he had just said—
Sleepwalking and kissing someone...
So she had sleepwalked and kissed him?
Thinking of this, Mia couldn’t help but raise her hand to cover her mouth.
Lucas sneered, "What? Remember now?"
He released her, "I haven’t even called you out for being unethical, and you dare confront me? Who gave you such boldness?"
He crossed his arms, mocking, "If I weren’t so generous, I’d accuse you of harassment, and it would be a sure case."
Mia’s fists clenched tightly at her sides, her face ashen.
Lucas noticed something wrong with her, coughed lightly, and lowered his arms, "You..."
He barely began when her trembling voice interrupted, "I’m sorry, Mr. Lowell, I truly didn’t know. Offending you was my fault."
"Uh, well..." Lucas was slightly embarrassed.
He never actually considered it a big deal, nor did he intend to pursue it.
If it hadn’t slipped out in irritation today, he would have let it lie.
"Mr. Lowell, I want to quit."
"What the hell!" Lucas’s eyes widened, barely believing his ears.
"Quit what? Say that again!"
"Resign." Mia said seriously, "After that incident, I’m sure you don’t want to see me anymore. You’ve tolerated it for the past few days, and I’m sorry for the trouble."
Lucas was so taken aback, he nearly choked!
"I didn’t..."
"I’ll go write my resignation letter now. Mr. Lowell, please allow me to apologize once more."
Mia said, stepping back, bowed to Lucas, then turned to leave.
Watching her resolute departure, Lucas clenched his jaw so hard it was nearly crushing.
"Stop! I said stop!"
But she seemed to have made up her mind to resign, so she didn’t listen anymore and walked straight out the door without looking back.
"Damn it!"
Lucas’s anger surged, turning to punch the table.
What the hell kind of bullshit is this!
——
A villa in the outskirts.
Sarah Sutton was carrying bread and water upstairs, but before she even got close to the tightly shut room at the end, a cold male voice stopped her.
"Stop!"
Her back stiffened, cold sweat immediately sticking to her skin, and she dared not move an inch.
The sound of slow footsteps approached from behind.
Suddenly, her hair was yanked back, forcing her head to tilt up uncontrollably.
Jason Grant saw what she held and sneered, "What? Pretending to be an angel, are we?"
As he spoke, he knocked the items out of Sarah’s hands to the ground.
He then stepped forward, crushing the bread underfoot.
"Did I give you permission to give him food, or let him drink water?"
Jason released her, and Sarah fell to the floor.
"I-I’m sorry..."
Jason looked down at her condescendingly, "Last time he helped you, you thought you found a savior, thought you were special."
"But look at you now, aren’t you still in my hands? Silly girl, wake up, you’re nothing."
Jason bent down, patted Sarah’s pale face, then glanced toward the room at the end.
"Get out."
Sarah hurriedly scrambled to her feet and fled downstairs.
After she left, Jason slowly walked toward the room at the end of the hallway.
