Chapter 910

‘Wow... That’s freaking powerful...’

Siegfried was genuinely surprised by what he had done now.

But in truth, he had not done much at all.

All he did was follow the green arrow in front of him and drive the Trident of the Sea God into the ground as instructed.

That was it.

He did not really put much thought into it and just planted the trident into the ground on instinct.

But the moment he did, thousands of water pillars shot up from the ground and massacred thousands of Fallen Angels in an instant.

Even though he was just a demigod, the power of Neptune, a being who had ascended to the level of a god, was enough to obliterate the Fallen Angels.

If Siegfried was shocked, then Andariel was downright horrified.

He was an angel who prided himself on his supremacy compared to other creatures. He truly believed that the celestial race was absolutely superior to any other race, and they were at the top of the hegemony in this entire world.

For someone like him, witnessing Siegfried unleash the power of a demigod to wipe out his kin in one fell swoop was nothing short of shocking. He had never considered the possibility that a lowly insect, a mere human, could wield such overwhelming power.

Perhaps that was the reason, but—

“M-My brothers and sisters! Hear me!”

Andariel realized that his own strength was not enough against the human, so he desperately called out to the scattered Fallen Angels throughout the city.

“The wicked heretic has finally revealed his true colors! Lend me your strength, my brothers and sisters!”

In response to his cry, twenty-five thousand Fallen Angels flew to the skies, filling the air above the main square.

With his kin gathered, Andariel’s confidence returned.

“You filthy worm!” he roared in fury.

And just as he always did, he started yapping again.

“Surrender at once, insignificant creature!”

“Huh?” Siegfried muttered, tilting his head in confusion. Then, he wondered, ‘Does he still not understand his predicament?’

No matter how much Siegfried thought about it, Andariel wasn't in the position to make threats after Siegfried's overwhelming display of power.

However, Andariel begged to differ.

“I will kill you all if you do not surrender,” he said with a chilling grin.

It was then.

Creak...!

The twenty-five thousand angels flying in the sky above simultaneously drew their bows.

Fwoosh!

And their arrows were ignited and set ablaze by fire.

“I will turn this place into a sea of flames and raze it to the ground if you refuse to surrender,” Andariel threatened.

“Oh? Do you really think you can win against me?” Siegfried replied, sounding impressed by their level of confidence.

“I’m certain you will survive. But what about the other insects? Sure, a cockroach like you might live, but what about the rest of the vermin?” Andariel said with a smug grin before turning his gaze at the people around them.

High Priest Nereus, his followers, and the innocent people dragged here by the Fallen Angels.

Siegfried was not the only one standing in the main square. There were nearly a thousand innocent NPCs present, too.

Andariel was using them as hostages to force Siegfried into making a choice.

“Oh? You’re quite the stubborn one, aren’t you? Are you one of those people who never change no matter what happens to them? Seriously, is throwing threats the only thing you can think of?” Siegfried asked sarcastically, unimpressed by the angel.

Andariel had pulled this exact same stunt many times since he took over Marine City. He had been relying on psychological warfare and taking hostages from the very beginning.

At this point, Siegfried would not be surprised if Andariel’s role in the Celestial Realm was to instigate and manipulate others through propaganda.

“Surrender while you can,” Andariel threatened.

“What if I don’t?” Siegfried sneered in response.

Andariel flashed a twisted smile and said, “I will slaughter them all.”

“Go ahead. Do what you want,” Siegfried said with a shrug. Then, he smirked and added, “Doesn’t matter to me whether they’re dead or alive.”

“What?” Siegfried tightened his grip on the Trident of the Sea God and said, “Sorry to say this, but I don’t negotiate with assoles.”

Without wasting another second, he charged straight at Andariel.

“You crazy bastard!” Andariel was flustered after seeing that his threats did not work. Not only that, the human even charged straight at him.

But there was no time to dwell on it.

“Brothers and sisters! NOW!” Andariel shouted.

There was no turning back now. If threats weren't working, then he would burn everything down to the ground.

“Fire! Burn them all! Reduce the vermin to ashes!”

Shwiiik! Shwiiik!

At Andariel’s command, the twenty-five thousand Fallen Angels unleashed their arrows.

A rain of fire streaked across the sky and descended upon the main square like a storm of hellfire.

***

‘Whoa? They really did it?’

Siegfried was slightly surprised when the arrows were unleashed, but this was something he also expected.

Andariel and the angels believed that the creatures of this world were nothing but unsalvageable and unredeemable pests to be eradicated.

Thousands? Tens of thousands? Millions? Billions?

To the angels, it did not matter how many lives they slaughtered. They could wipe out all life in this world and not give a damn about it. Thus, it was not strange that they would resort to something like this or even something far worse than this.

‘Oh well, it’s not gonna change anything,’ Siegfried thought as he darted forward.

Even as the arrows rained down, Siegfried did not flinch and maintained his eyes locked on Andariel.

Shwiiiiiik!

The arrows descended unto the main square like a rain of fire.

Ding!

Just then, a green arrow appeared before Siegfried’s eyes.

[Alert: Raise the Trident of the Sea God high into the sky!]

Following the instructions, Siegfried immediately raised the Trident of the Sea God high above his head.

Swoosh!

A powerful divine energy surged from the trident, and—

Rumble!

—A translucent blue barrier enveloped everyone standing in the main square.

Fwooosh!

The flaming arrows rained down like a firestorm.

Ting! Ting! Tiiing!

However, the arrows bounced off the barrier.

Fwaaaaah!

The flames engulfing the arrows spread throughout the main square, turning it into a sea of fire. However, not even a single person was harmed.

The barrier Siegfried created was so overwhelmingly powerful that the flames of the Fallen Angels failed to do any damage to a single person.

“...!”

The Fallen Angels were stunned by what they were witnessing.

“N-No waaayyy!” Andariel screamed in disbelief, his voice trembling in shock.

“Perfect,” Siegfried muttered with a smirk, but his smile did not last long. “Wait right there.”

Without warning, Siegfried charged toward Andariel once again. He was blindingly fast this time, even faster than he usually was.

The fins around his legs were not just for show. They granted him a Movement Speed buff, which allowed him to move as if he were swimming on land.[1]

“Y-You damn insect!” Andariel roared in anger but relented and took to the sky after feeling threatened by Siegfried rushing at him like a hungry shark.

However, it was a big mistake.

Fwoosh!

Just as Andariel spread his wings—

Shwiiiik!

Puuuk!

Siegfried threw the Trident of the Sea God with pinpoint precision, hitting Andariel right in the middle of his back.

***

“Kuheok!”

Andariel was shot down right, and he crashed into the ground in a disgraceful manner.

“Argh....”

He groaned in pain and squirmed on the ground.

Kwachik!

Siegfried grabbed him by his hair and said, “Got you, you bastard.”

A wide grin spread across his face, and he visibly looked satisfied by his catch.

Getting his hands on Andariel was his biggest desire in the past few hours. He wanted nothing more than to catch the yapping bastard and rip that mouth of his wide open.

But before that, there was something he had to do first.

“Don’t move a finger. I’m going to kill this bastard if anyone so much as moves a muscle,” Siegfried threatened.

Using Andariel as a hostage, he threatened the Fallen Angels hovering above them.

Ironically, this was the same thing Andariel had done just a while ago.

“So, how does it feel? It fucking sucks now that you’re on the receiving end of it, right?” Siegfried whispered.

“A-Argh...!”

“Hold still.”

With those words, Siegfried grabbed Andariel’s upper and lower jaws.

“A-Aaaghhh!”

“I swore I’d rip that damn yapping mouth of yours.”

“Urgh! Uuuurghh!”

“Just like this.”

It was then.

C-Crack!”

Andariel’s lower jaw was torn off.

“AAAAAHHHHH!”

A scream of agony erupted from Andariel’s half-mouth, sending a shiver down the spines of the Fallen Angels. They trembled as they witnessed the grotesque brutality of Siegfried tearing Andariel’s jaw with his bare hands.

“Burp!”

Siegfried let out a massive burp with sheer satisfaction written all over his face.

Ripping Andariel’s mouth open felt like releasing ten years’ worth of frustration within him. It felt like chugging down a glass of ice-cold soda after swallowing a dry sweet potato whole.

However, this was not enough to satisfy him.

The frustration that had been accumulating within him when he was forced to retreat despite the angels running rampant in the city was not something that could be easily washed down.

With that, Siegfried yanked the Trident of the Sea God from Andariel, who was sprawled out on the ground and groaning in pain.

“AaaAAaah!” Andariel screamed as the trident was pulled from his back.

And those were his final words.

Puuuuk!

Siegfried drove the Trident of the Sea God straight down into Andariel’s back once again, ending his life once and for all.

His deceitful tongue would never yap ever again.

“...!”

The Fallen Angels were frozen in horror. Their commander, Andariel, was brutally slain right before their eyes.

“Yeah, you’re right. Pests have to be exterminated,” Siegfried said icily. Then, he looked up at the trembling Fallen Angels and shot up into the sky without a hint of hesitation.

Even though he was alone and up against twenty-five thousand angels, he did not feel disadvantaged at all.

Why?

It was all because he was wielding Neptune's power at the moment. He could use a power so absolute that he couldn't lose even if he wanted to do so.

Just like that, a fierce battle began...

“Gwaaah!”

“Ack!”

“Aaaack!”

Siegfried massacred the Fallen Angels left and right, swatting them down as if they were mere flies buzzing around.

“O Neptune!” Nereus cried out, with tears of joy streaming down his battered face. He watched as Siegfried single-handedly slaughtered the ones responsible for razing not only the Temple of the Sea God but also slaughtering countless innocent people.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The sight of the Fallen Angels being struck down by Siegfried and plummeting from the sky was an extremely satisfying spectacle.

“R-Retreat! Fall back!”

“Brothers and sisters! We must retreat!”

“Run!”

In the end, the Fallen Angels began to flee after sustaining massive casualties from the onslaught unleashed upon them by Siegfried.

“Waaaaah!”

“We won! We won!”

“Our god, Neptune is watching over us!”

Triumphant cheers erupted throughout Marine City as the Fallen Angels fled. The entire city rejoiced, celebrating their victory after barely escaping total annihilation at the hands of the angels.

However, one person was not happy about their victory—Siegfried.

‘Where do you think you’re going?’

He chased after the fleeing flock of Fallen Angels.

The Fallen Angels were not feeling inland but toward the harbor.

In other words, they were fleeing toward the sea.

‘I will lose half of them if they scatter at sea,’ Siegfried thought.

It was then.

Ding!

A green arrow appeared before his eyes once again.

[Alert: Point the Trident of the Sea God at the sea!]

It was another message urging him to use the authority bestowed upon him by Neptune.

1. I think the author meant that Siegfried is moving at the same speed as some fish in water. ☜
