Death Mage with an SS-Rank Talent-Chapter 236
Chapter 236: Chapter 236
"What the heck?" Aaron shouted when he heard the sound.
He was sure that was an explosive that happened in the city and that means some asshole decided to cause chaos in the city. It would be troublesome.
It was not that he was afraid of the enemies, but hidden ones are the most dangerous ones, and with a lot of civilians mingled, the collateral would be a lot if he charges without thinking.
Aaron, as someone who stands on the side of justice, has to control his attacks in order not to cause any collateral damage, but the other side doesn’t need to control their actions at all. They can do whatever they want to, which means the collateral would be very high.
"Humans would be reason why humans go extinct, not monsters", Aaron muttered to himself as he followed the people leaving the building.
The explosion was very loud, and almost everyone should have heard it. Everyone wants to know what has happened. Though they understood that there was an attack, unless they were close to the attack, many would want to know what exactly was happening and why.
It was either out of curiosity or to know how far they had to run in order to escape the attack radius, or maybe some wanted to stop the attacks and help the injured.
There are many reasons, and for Aaron, it was to stop the attacks.
He is not a healer to heal the injured or a lifter who can lift fallen buildings to rescue the ones trapped there. He can’t help in any way like that, but what he can do is stop the ones who are causing the damage. Though he has never done such a thing in his life, everyone has to start from somewhere, and this would be his start.
---
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Three more explosions rocked the city near the first explosion. Now, everyone knew where to go even without any orders, but they received orders.
With the explosions, the city guard decided to deploy the students, everyone to the site of the explosions, to help them stop any more explosions from happening.
Aaron was sent to the last explosion site along with his team members, including their irritating captain, Naoh.
It was not just their team that was sent here, but their group was one of many.
When they arrived at the site, they found people killing civilians left and right, while some were restricted by the guards present there.
The students immediately understood that these people might be connected to the cults.
They immediately engaged with these criminals, making sure that they were unable to harm any civilians, but the problem remained that these criminals were stronger than the students.
This made it useless, with the students even being higher in number than these criminals, as a lot of students have to tie together to match a criminal.
The killings stopped for a minute, but if reinforcements don’t arrive, their lives will be in danger in a few minutes.
The students present here are at least Rank-2, and a few are even Rank-4, but those belong to the captains, who are senior students.
"Everyone listen to me. They are stronger than we are. Don’t pull back and give everything you’ve got. Only then can we destroy them", one of the captains shouted, which raised the morale of the students a bit.
Aaron quickly understood that the captain who spoke must be one of the rare professions that are not exactly combat professions, but are useful in combat.
This was probably Legion Commander or something like that, which was not particularly powerful while fighting alongside, but would be very useful while leading armies.
The skill the boy just used was Morale Booster, which can increase the morale of the group that follows him.
Since every student here was following their captains, and the captains were already aware of his profession, they were following him. So, in a way, every student present here was following him, making it easy for him.
The boy even used the legion perks that came with the increased group.
Legion Commander profession becomes stronger, depending on the number of people under them. Even the boosts gained by the followers would increase as the number increases, and decrease with a decrease in number.
So, the more the legion has, the more powerful the legion would be, and that would not be in a linear power increase, but exponentially.
Aaron felt the perks, which gave him a great boost. He already has a high number of attributes, and the legion bonus was in percentage, not in numbers. So, with his high value in attributes, the boost made his strength touch the sky.
While others had to fight in groups, he alone handled two criminals. Of course, he summoned skeletons to make it believable for others.
The city was not in a dire situation to show his true power, which could attract attention from all parties, even ones with bad intentions.
As he grew in strength, he for some reason started to feel that showing his true prowess might not be a good thing for him. Though he didn’t know why he felt like that, he as a cautious person, made sure that his true prowess was not leaked outside.
---
While the students were fighting with the awakeners of the cults, Aaron turned and walked in a different direction, after killing the two he was fighting.
As he was fighting his own opponent, his instincts were flaring up, telling him that this was not an actual battlefield, but it was somewhere else entirely.
For survival in this world, one has to believe in their instincts one hundred percent. Even doubting their own instincts lightly might end up with them being dead.
Aaron was not like that. He trusted his instincts enough. Though he may not have faced any real-time danger before, the teachers of the academy have stressed the point of trusting one’s instincts. Even in many combat-oriented books that he read in the academy, the authors stressed to believe in their instincts.
Since he had never been on a real battlefield, when his instincts were saying something, he chose to follow his instincts, based on those teachings.
Aaron turned away from the fights and walked towards an untouched building in the area.
When he saw the building, he felt wrong with that. Many awakeners were fighting in the vicinity, and there were explosions before. So, there was no reason for the building to stand tall. It should have crumbled just like the other buildings in the area.
"Something is definitely wrong with that building", Aaron muttered as he entered the building.
When he entered the building, he found nothing. The building was abandoned long ago for some reason, but he found footprints on the floor. Aaron quickly followed them, which led to various places in the building, but most of them led to the basement.
So, he chose to check the basement first.
When he entered the basement, there he found a man standing in what appeared to be a ritual circle, and he was reciting something.
He was performing a ritual that Aaron was sure about, and whatever the ritual was about, his instincts were screaming. Whatever it was, it was dangerous, and he had to stop the ritual from completion.
His instincts were right. The battlefield was not out there, but right here. If he doesn’t stop the ritual, he has a feeling that the situation could be even worse than it already was.
