Chapter 189: Chapter 189

Capital City Central...Underground

"What was happening?" an old man spoke out loudly, while reading about the reports that he had just received.

He couldn’t make heads or tails of what he read, especially from the information that he just got a few minutes ago.

Starting from the first report that came in the morning, which told him that Aiden, the head of the Hunters Guild, was seen visiting Alliance HQ personally. He was the only one who arrived.

Heads of organisations meet one another occasionally. So, there was no reason to think further, as it might be something personal or something that has to do with some new dungeon or a resource point that was discovered recently.

The old man who has seen and experienced a lot in his life can easily derive many things from even a little information, especially if such things happened before.

So, Aiden’s visit to Alliance HQ was not much of a consequence, but the information from the later reports was a bit troubling.

Aiden had spent less than half an hour before leaving Alliance HQ, and he was in a bit of a hurry. He returned to the guild faster than he usually would.

Though that point was not mentioned in the reports, the old man easily deduced from the time stamps of Aiden’s leaving Alliance HQ and returning to the Guild.

He couldn’t think of any reason why Aiden was in such a hurry and why he left only half an hour later after arriving at the HQ.

There was no way that he finalised whatever deal he was there to make.

Attacking the cult strongholds, that idea crossed his mind, but that was out of the question too. If the Hunters Guild joins the Alliance, then that would take a lot more time than less than half an hour to come to an agreement.

Even if an agreement was made, coordination between two massive organisations would not be so easy. The logistics would be hell.

Also, to avoid any complications after the battle, there would be a discussion of compensation and loot allocation beforehand.

All these things would take time. So, even if there was an agreement, it won’t be an issue in the short term. He just needed to make sure that the security is increased a bit, and it would be safer than it is now.

Even if there is no threat from the guild, with what was happening between the alliance and the cults, increasing security is paramount. The alliance was sure to attack them sooner rather than later.

As the alliance had no idea why the cults were attacking, they couldn’t predict where they would attack next. This made their troops spread thein across the settlements, which made it difficult for officials to send fighters to the Last Bastion, which required help from the guild, and even giving away a lot of resources.

Though the oldman knew nothing about that fact, the alliance would soon attack them.

Maintaining troop deployements in such a large scale is burdening the alliance’s treasury. Moreover, the old man knew about the fact of planet upgrade that could happen or maybe even happening at the very second.

Though he seen much in life, he couldn’t say if it was happening at the moment, and neither can the alliance for that matter, though the upgrade has started months ago.

So in order to have enough resources and troops when that crisis rises, the alliance would likely to sweep the entire world to eliminate the cults once and for all, to make it easier for them to survive the disaster.

With a tumor like the cults present, the survival of the alliance is bleak. They have to worry about both external and internal issues.

The greatest threat to any organisation was that comes from inside rather than from outside. Whatever the externalthreat might be, they can survive as they would know who they are but if the threat is internal, no one would know who the enemy or from where the attack would come from until the last moment.

So, eliminating such tumors that exist was necessary.

So, even without what the cults were doing right now, the alliance would soon attack and try to clear out all the cults, though that may not be possible one hundred percent, but they would elimininate as much as possible. This way, they can fully concentrate on what’s coming.

---

While the old man was thinking about what happened between Aiden and the Alliance, among other things, a new report came, which was why he was surprised and started to speak aloud to make sense of what was happening.

Aiden, along with twenty senior hunters, were spotted in the City of Ulur, but Aiden was seen entering the guild less than an hour ago.

If anyone hears this, they would surely throw the report away as false information and may even order to punish the ones who made that report, but he was not a nobody.

He is someone who knew about the existence of teleportation formations, which can help transport goods and even people long distances in a short time.

So, he didn’t immediately consider the report as a false one.

If it were true, then he wondered what Aiden was doing so far away from the capital. The report even stated that they collected around a hundred young hunters, and left the city using vehicles on land. It means whatever their objective was, it is near the City of Ulur.

"What can it be?" the old man muttered, but no matter how much he thought, he couldn’t think of anything.

"Is this connected to the alliance?"

After all, this was done just after Aiden left the Alliance HQ. So, the chances of whatever happening could be related to the Alliance, but what it was, he couldn’t think at all.

"Wait a minute?" the old man remembered something, "Didn’t the higher-ups warn the cult members not to go near the forest of Ragun because something dangerous was possibly stirring inside those forests?"

"The nearest settlement to that forest was a fort, The Last Bastion. Did something happen there? This could be big. I need to inform the higher-ups, and from then it would be their nuisance".

"Hmm, maybe it can also be a trap for the cults. I should also mention that in the report to be on the safe side", the old man started to compile a report.

After completing the report, he made sure that there were no errors in the report. Once that was done, he called his assistant, who became the personal messenger to relay the message to one of the higher-ups. After that, his duty would be done.
