Death Mage with an SS-Rank Talent-Chapter 157
Chapter 157: Chapter 157
The coordinator felt that the drama built up was enough; anymore of it may turn them into bitter enemies, which is not a good thing for them or the alliance.
They are both good seeds who can help the alliance a lot in the future, and they didn’t want to lose them. If they turn into bitter enemies, that may end one or both in ditches somewhere out in the wild.
With alliance observing, fights may not break out in the open, but when in the wild, who can say what could happen?
So, he felt to start the match as soon as possible.
"The duel will start at the count of three", he said without bothering to see if they were listening to his words or not, "One...Two...Three, Start".
"Light Lance," Aiden cast his skill as soon as the START signal was given, creating a lance made of light element, which he threw at Aaron at high speed.
Seeing the attack coming straight at him at high speed, Aaron sprinted away without wasting a second. He was not interested in getting hit by the attacks from Aiden.
In the defence category, except for his natural defence and armour protection, there was nothing else for him. He has no skills that can defend him properly, without getting actual damage to himself.
Normally, that would be taken care of by his skeletons, which are still in the undead space.
Before he could even think to bring them out, Aiden had already cast a skill, and the attack came onto him. He could only escape from the attack. With a lot of Agility points, he didn’t even have to use a skill to dodge the attack.
Once he escaped, Aaron immediately summoned thirty skeletons and gave them the order to attack Aiden, all of them. There was no need for skeletons to stay behind, as it is a duel and no attacks would come from others, like they could in a dungeon or in the wild.
Once the order was given, every skeleton was upon Aiden.
To not attract unwanted attention, especially when there are a lot of people watching, Aaron only summoned skeletons that used Swords, Spears, and Bows & Arrows. He kept the undead that can do magic a secret.
Bringing them would give him an easy win, but that would also attract attention from bad guys. Though winning this tournament would bring them upon him, Aaron was sure that he could easily escape as long as they underestimate him and send weaker assassins.
If they send a powerful one from the start, it would be difficult to escape from such a predicament.
Once the skeletons took charge of the fight, Aaron stayed behind and attacked with Mana Balls every once, making sure that Aiden get any chance to retaliate. This is the beauty of the summoner skills, especially the Death-related Summoner skills.
They can use their summons to fight for them, and can relax at the back.
Aiden, on the other hand, though it was a bit troublesome, didn’t have much trouble as others would usually have. This was because one he is not a mage and fighting against warrior-type opponents was easy for him. The second reason was because of his Light Element, which acts against the Death Element.
Though Dark Element is the opponent of Light Element, it has certain constraining power against Death Element. This was why Aaron had to keep attacking with his skills like Mana Ball, Death Lash, and every other skill could be cast against Aiden.
The Death Skills had a little less effect than they should have due to all the protections that Aiden has on him.
He is the top student of the Luminar Academy. So, the academy took special care of him. Unlike how it was for Aaron, it was quite different for Aiden.
Aiden was taken as a personal disciple of one of the professors there, who bestowed a lot of equipment on him, such as rings that made casting a skill easy. The first attack was made so quickly because of the rings that he wore.
The armour and the sword have light element properties, which made it easy for him to counter the skeletons, but only a stalemate was achieved, especially with Aaron attacking him from a distance.
Aaron didn’t deploy the ghosts, not because he was hiding them from the spectators, but from the opponent. He used ghosts when in the academy and during Stage One. So, it was not exactly a secret, but that doesn’t mean everyone here knew about that fact, especially Aiden.
Summoning them at the start would give away the element of surprise. So, he decided to wait till the moment came to bring them out.
The perfect time would be when Aiden lose perception of surroundings and has to concentrate on fighting the skeletons, rather than Aaron. To achieve that, Aiden has to get tired and deplete his mana pool.
Only then can Aaron easily use the ghosts to attack Aiden.
In order to achieve that, Aaron summoned a few more skeletons, some of whom were to replenish the ranks lost while fighting Aiden. If it were anyone else, they would have lost the duel by now.
Instead, Aiden even destroyed a few skeletons, which Aaron has to replace with new skeletons and also add more to put more pressure on Aiden. This continued for a while.
"Now is the time", Aaron thought and summoned five ghosts silently.
"Silently creep onto him and use your attacks. Make sure you are a bit away from his reach", he gave the order once he summoned the ghosts.
He was afraid that the light elemental attacks might disperse the ghosts completely, which have weaker bodies compared to the skeletons. A few skeletons disappeared fighting Aiden. So, clearing out ghosts may not be impossible for Aiden.
As ordered, the ghosts acted perfectly and attacked Aiden’s mind at the right time.
"AAarrrgh", Aiden screamed as he collapsed.
Only Aiden’s scream could be heard, while everyone else was surprised, and no word was spoken, making the stadium eerie with only screams heard.
