Chapter 4569 - 3651: Injustice League (3)

"On behalf of our universe, welcome to your arrival." Superman stepped forward and shook hands with Clark.

Clark flashed a bright smile and said, "I hope we're not too late. After all, the mess in our universe isn't completely sorted yet. We left a few people back there to hold down the fort, you don't mind, right?"

Superman looked behind him. Aquaman and Martian Manhunter, key members of the Justice League, hadn't come; only Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and Green Arrow were here.

"Where's The Flash? Didn't he come?" Wonder Woman stepped forward to ask.

"He's on his way," Clark said, "He's a college student and recently got an internship. Just finished his internship report, so there's quite a bit to handle. But he should be here soon."

Superman signaled Wonder Woman to step back with his eyes. Wonder Woman was slightly at a loss. Even Superman felt troubled by her foolishness at this point.

The Flash's abilities are unique, but he isn't considered a very important figure in the Justice League. Asking about him right off the bat would be too transparent.

Wonder Woman then noticed Batman walking out from behind Superman. She couldn't be sure it was Batman because he wasn't wearing the bat suit, just a shirt, and wasn't masked. Bruce Wayne's face appeared particularly youthful.

He smiled as he came forward to shake hands with Wonder Woman and said, "Hello, Wonder Woman, nice to meet you. By the way, you're the most special Wonder Woman I've ever met."

"Really?" Wonder Woman chuckled and said, "How so?"

"Especially silly." Batman listening in thought to himself, "That's definitely what he's thinking."

"Actually, I can't really articulate it well, but I always feel like you're a bit different from Wonder Women of other universes. Your demeanor is more composed, perhaps due to more experiences."

"I hope you're not just saying that to cheer me up." Wonder Woman laughed and said, "Instead of talking about me, let's talk about you. You're truly special, are you really Batman?"

"Honestly, I don't even know if I qualify," Bruce shrugged and said, "I stopped wearing that strange outfit a long time ago. But that doesn't interfere with being a superhero, you know. A heart of justice isn't easily swayed by external things."

"Oh, my gosh, if the Batman of our universe could be as adaptable as you. You have no idea, he's so rigid it's infuriating..."

"I've heard." Bruce crossed his arms and said with a slight frown, "He killed a Joker, right? While we really shouldn't be executing people, if someone makes a rash mistake in the heat of the moment, that person isn't worth the sympathy. Better to quickly find a way to help a friend clear their name."

"That's what a real friend should do!" Wonder Woman raised her voice and said, "But do you know what he did? Oh my goodness..."

Batman listening in sighed deeply from the bottom of his heart.

The reason is simple. Within three minutes of meeting, Wonder Woman and Bruce were already bosom buddies; in under five minutes, it was as if they were becoming sworn brothers; another two minutes, and Wonder Woman's gaze at Bruce was growing intense.

If things kept going on like this, it would really be like being sold and still helping someone count money.

Even Batman felt a bit uncomfortable watching.

"Oh, isn't that Damian?" Bruce waved to another figure at the table and said, "Come over, let me give you a hug. Have you gained weight?"

With that, he disregarded Damian's somewhat blank expression, went over, picked him up, and weighed him slightly in his arms.

"Not bad, a bit lighter than the Damian I know."

"You..." Damian uttered a syllable. He looked Bruce up and down and then said, "You're Batman? Batman from another universe?"

"I've said, I probably don't qualify as Batman. But if you insist, I have no choice." Bruce smiled and ruffled his hair. "Someday, come visit our universe. Before leaving, another universe's Batman built a huge castle park for my daughter, and she's in need of playmates."

"That universe doesn't have me? I mean... you don't have a son?"

"No, I only have a daughter, who's sharp-teethed and boisterous. Sometimes I think it'd be nice if Selina could give me a son like you."

"Wait." Catwoman, standing on the side, glanced over and then said, "I'm not his mom."

"Ah, sorry, I forgot. In most universes, she isn't. But in ours, Selina is Aisha's mom. The two of them have a great relationship, sometimes I get a bit jealous."

"Are you two married?" Catwoman asked, frowning.

"Not yet. I've tried subtly asking about proposing several times, but Selina seems a bit evasive..." Bruce suddenly realized something and looked at Catwoman saying, "You're her counterpart, what do you think she means? Does she not want to marry me?"

"Did you propose in the end?"

"Of course not. If she's uncertain about wanting to marry me, popping the question would put her in an awkward spot. I don't want to pressure her, and what if the paparazzi caught wind of it? If it ends happily ever after, that's fine, but if the proposal fails, she'd face even more criticism."

"I didn't expect you to be so understanding." Catwoman stepped forward and said, "Tell me what she said. Maybe I can help you out."

"It's a long story. Actually, I think her main concern is her career. I don't know what you do for work in this universe, but in my universe, Selina is a Hollywood actress, and she's on the rise. Her fans and agent don't want her to give up her career for family..."

"A Hollywood actress? Are you saying she went to Hollywood to make movies?"

"Yes, and both of her movie's box offices did quite well. They call her the 'Gotham Rose.' She has also recently released her own physical album, and its sales have skyrocketed, matching those of professional singers."

Catwoman's expression grew increasingly interested. She and Bruce moved to the other side of the table to chat, completely unaware of the icy look that appeared in Wonder Woman's eyes, as she was left behind. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

But this did not escape Batman's notice. He rubbed his forehead, feeling that Bruce once again raised his awareness of shamelessness.

It had only been a few minutes, and the two parties, who had previously become slightly united due to Brainiac's invasion, already showed a crack.

In fact, Wonder Woman didn't like him, and Catwoman didn't like him that much either. Batman was well aware of these points. But Bruce could create a rift between two women who didn't like him that much in such a short amount of time.

Of course, Batman had used this tactic before, but at most he used his charm to cause female heroes to change sides, not to make them jealous of each other and fight. That was too despicable.

However, Bruce clearly used this tactic with masterful skill, seamlessly.

It's not to say that in such a short time, Wonder Woman fell in love with him, nor that Catwoman really cared that much about men. But the thrill of attracting others' attention and the disappointment from having attention diverted were enough to cause emotional fluctuations. Even putting aside gender relations, this tactic was effective.

On the other side, Clark started exchanging pleasantries with Superman, saying a few courteous words.

"I really feel sorry. The anomaly in our universe has prevented you from completing the mission. To make up for the guilt I feel, we will definitely help you deal with Brainiac."

"Thank you so much," Superman said. "Right now, Earth's recovery needs are many and varied, and Brainiac is eyeing us with malice. The pressure on us is immense. It would be great to have your help."

"In that case, let's leave the niceties for later. Should we proceed according to your model or ours?"

Superman, of course, knew what he meant. The group's style across from them was entirely different. Under their method, it meant endless data collection and analysis, followed by long and tedious meetings.

But that seemed too rigorous. Superman thought. He wasn't really trying to deal with Brainiac; he just hoped to gain the power to reverse time. If they truly formulated a perfect plan to repel Brainiac, what about his plan?

"Your approach might not work for us." Superman pulled out a chair for them and then said, "Since this is an issue in our universe, we should also take responsibility. Let's proceed with our approach."

"No problem." Clark gestured for them to be seated, and sat to the right of the head seat, while Bruce took the left side.

Others also gradually sat down. Oliver and Hal sat facing each other, Diana and this universe's Wonder Woman faced off, and the others followed in succession.

"Let me first explain the situation in our universe..." Superman gave a brief introduction to the current situation, "In short, Brainiac wants to bottle up the whole Earth as a collectible. Currently, two cities on the East Coast have been bottled, and his spaceship is hovering above Earth."

"The best plan at the moment is to attack the spaceship," Superman suggested.

"Uh, I mean no disrespect, but may I ask why?" Oliver asked. "The spaceship is so close to Earth, if its gravitational system is damaged and falls towards Earth, I'm afraid the entire Earth would be shattered, wouldn't it?"

"Uh..." The others exchanged looks, seemingly realizing they hadn't considered that point.

"And, on the other side is a super artificial intelligence. Do you have any special methods to imprison or kill an artificial intelligence? Can you ensure that it won't use signals to copy and upload its backup and escape?" Oliver continued to question.

"I can destroy his core." Cyborg said.

"I know, but that's just on the hardware level. Is there no software defense? What if he revives from a backup, organizes an army, and comes back again?"

The group below began to discuss, as if they only just thought of this point. Superman coughed twice, and they finally quieted down.

"In fact, our combat goal is just to temporarily repel Brainiac, not to completely eliminate him. As long as we can make him leave Earth for a while, we can recuperate and restore order. When he wants to come back and cause trouble on Earth, it won't be so easy."

"I see, it seems you already have a very comprehensive Earth rebuilding plan." Oliver nodded.

"Then we'll have to get the spaceship's blueprints," Clark said. "That way we can ensure that in the attack, we don't damage the gravity systems. And maybe we can even capture this spaceship and use it as a weapon for humanity."

"That's a good idea." Wonder Woman said. "If we can keep the spaceship, we won't have to fear him."

Batman couldn't help but sigh inwardly again. A major characteristic of fools is being confidently "greedy and grasping."
