Chapter 4449 - Revised: Chapter 3534 Research on Cats and Dogs (45)

When everyone had packed up and was ready to leave, Oliver seemed to remember that there were still two pairs of Batman and Superman left hanging.

So he gestured for everyone to hold on. Standing in place pondering, he seemed unable to think of anything, so he said, "Sorry, I forgot. We also have good allies from another world. Everyone, help me think about what they can do."

"Watch Bruce!" several people said in unison.

Oliver waved his hand again, signaling everyone to calm down, saying, "We already have Clark and Diana..."

"Then just watch all three of them," Hal interrupted.

"I think four people aren't necessary," Oliver continued to smooth things over. "How about this: two people participate in ground defense, and two people in extraterrestrial defense. That way it works perfectly."

"Then we'll handle extraterrestrial defense." Batman was the first to speak. "We are very interested in the Magical Defense Network. If we could have a tour and learn from it, that would be great."

Oliver didn't refuse, nodding and said, "Alright. Hal, they will follow you."

Hal's expression clearly showed he felt like he had benefited because this pair of Batman and Superman appeared much more normal compared to the other pair who were still in a cold war and looked like a major problem.

Lex, who was in charge of ground defense, could only give Oliver a helpless glance before saying to Injustice Batman, "You two follow me, just don't cause any trouble and I'll be thanking the heavens."

Everyone left the meeting room to perform their duties. Harley and Arthur went to study ocean defenses; Pamela went to the laboratory to continue researching the Kryptonite Cactus; Lex took Injustice Batman and Injustice Superman to the Luthor Group Building to complete ground surveillance tasks.

Meanwhile, the group in charge of extraterrestrial defense was led by Hal, who took Kara and the remaining pair of Batman and Superman, along with Constantine and Zatanna, to a room upstairs at the Luthor Manor.

There was a teleportation portal here that clearly wasn't set up recently, it appeared to have been in place for a while.

"We were originally supposed to fly directly, but considering that some here cannot fly, we'll use the teleportation portal instead."

"Where are we going?" Batman asked.

"There are two locations, one is Mercury near the sun, and the other is the Kuiper Belt," Hal replied. "We need to take Kara to identify fuel traces, then return to Mercury Base to monitor anomalies throughout the Solar System."

Batman nodded, then asked, "What about the Magical Defense Network? Are you monitoring this network on Earth or outside Earth?"

"Both," Zatanna replied. "Usually, we keep an eye on the defense network from the Gotham Magic Academy, but for adjustments and repairs, it's generally done by Green Lantern exterior in space."

"I toured the Gotham Magic Academy before; it truly is a magical place," Batman nodded. "It's hard to imagine how much effort you've spent establishing it."

"But all of it is worth it," Zatanna said. "We are striving to rid humanity of the influences those great beings brought. Perhaps someday, mages may attain freedom."

Before passing through the teleportation portal, Hal created a shield using Green Lantern energy that enveloped everyone.

After crossing through, they appeared in space directly. This was the outer Kuiper Belt of the Solar System, an area with relatively dense celestial bodies.

Hal led them flying for a while and arrived at the nearest trace. Kara flew out of the shield first, examining the burnt asteroid fragments thoroughly from left to right, then nodded.

"That's right, a Kryptonian spaceship. And I roughly know who came."

"Who?"

"Have you heard of the Phantom Zone?" Kara asked, and quickly answered himself, "It's an endless void, also used by Krypton to exile criminals."

"Theoretically speaking, there's nothing there, and criminals within it could never escape; but there's one exception, and that's General Zod."

"Back then, he was sent into the Phantom Zone along with his spaceship, but he modified his ship there. It now looks like he has escaped using that ship."

"How do you know?" Hal inquired.

Kara replied helplessly, "In terms of timeline, I was born earlier than Carl Ai'er, which is Clark, but now I'm younger than him because I also spent time in the Phantom Zone. Time there is frozen; my body didn't develop until I left and arrived on Earth, by which point Clark was already over 20 years old."

"So how did you leave the Phantom Zone?"

"I wasn't imprisoned there. My parents sent me into the Phantom Zone during Krypton's destruction to save my life, naturally giving me the means to leave. This was also via a spaceship powered by special fuel, so I'm very familiar with these fuel traces."

Hal nodded, "Were Kryptonian spaceships very strong?"

"At their peak, yes," Kara responded. "But the one General Zod was flying wasn't our main fleet; otherwise, it wouldn't have been thrown into the Phantom Zone like garbage."

"I estimate it's similar to the one I flew," Kara speculated while stroking his chin. "A small spaceship with a hibernation pod, equipped with a small engine and laser weapons. Compared to human technology, it's quite advanced, but it doesn't stand out in the cosmos."

As the current practical ruler of the Green Lantern Corps, Hal was indeed accustomed to facing great challenges. In the DC cosmos, there aren't any Three Great Empires, but there are several extremely advanced civilizations like the Little Blue People.

Even, the top-level technological capability of advanced civilizations here is much superior to those of Marvel, with original source of cosmos manipulation, mathematical rate weapons, and dimensional folding weapons, among others.

Luckily, they are few in number, very scattered, and mostly still maintain some respectability like the Little Blue People, so no major wars have erupted in this galaxy.

Nonetheless, Hal shook his head, saying, "More advanced than Earth? Not necessarily."

Hal led them back through the teleportation portal, modifying the parameters using Green Lantern energy, transporting them to the space above Mercury.

Initially, the full Mercury Base equipment brought from Marvel had already surpassed the original setup from Marvel due to Stark's repeated modifications and upgrades, making it incomparable.

During its establishment, the Mercury Base had hollowed out Mercury completely, converting it into a mechanical steel fortress, essentially an artificial planet.

Once this base was completed, it integrated technologies from the Luther Group and Wayne Technology, then converted to the Green Lantern Corps' Solar System headquarters, undergoing extensive adaptive modifications and maintenance with Green Lantern energy, transforming it entirely.

From mid-air, it no longer resembled any natural formation but looked like a planet sculpted from steel structure. With participation from Green Lantern energy, many glass structures were used, with windows and hollow walls everywhere, exposing complex and exquisite structures.

Upon landing, everyone's eyes widened.

A metallic star slowly rotated in front of the great star with intricate and precise interwoven structures. Stark's unrivaled talent in mechanical engineering imparted mechanical beauty to this planet beyond this universe—a grand yet delicate, immense but meticulous piece, resembling a glittering diamond ring expressing humankind's romantic affection towards the Sun.

Batman gently swallowed. His instinct told him that in this universe, there were more secrets than he imagined, and even these seemingly inconsequential differences, when exerting their power, could construct a stunningly beautiful, profoundly mysterious new world.

"Alright, let's go inside," Hal led them into flying towards the Mercury Base.

Currently, Mercury Base had enrolled two batches of trainees, with the second batch just graduating, most returning to Earth, some already involved in Metropolis' defense.

During vacations, this served as the Green Lantern Corps' station. Those working here were Hal's loyal followers, mostly bereft of their home planets and fully committed to Hal's cause.

Upon entering the base, various types of equipment dazzled the eyes. It wasn't that Kara and Superman hadn't seen more advanced technology, but alien high-tech gear is custom designed for their races, and humans might neither comprehend it nor appreciate its aesthetic.

However, in front of them, the equipment carried an unprecedented high-tech beauty of the "human kind". The components and operational outlines were recognizably designed, manufactured, and utilized by humans, a departure from simple adoption of alien technology.

Batman, understanding more arcane details, began contemplating: Normally, if such a scientist existed on Earth, he couldn't have been unknown. However, if not developed by Earth's scientists, how was this so distinctly human?

Batman voiced his query, to which Hal responded with a mysterious smile, saying, "I can only tell you that Battleworld is more wondrous than you imagine. Utilize the trading system well, and you may open doors to a new world."

"Did you trade this from Battleworld?"

Actually, it wasn't. Hal thought but merely stated it as a promotional rhetoric.

Yet he nodded affirmatively, "Yes, it was traded from an Iron Man of another universe. If you want, you can browse the forum; there's all sorts of bizarre items."

Noticing Batman's suddenly drifting gaze, which indicated he was busy browsing the forum, astonishment gracing his features as he unearthed a New Continent, Superman too started exploring the Battleworld interface.

Watching their expressions, Hal smirked, "You two will be so engrossed in Battleworld, you shouldn't bother me then, right?"

Correct, Hal never considered this pair of Batmans and Supermans from another world as allies, but more as redundant. If one asked why, perhaps someone had notably lowered the local universe's perception of Batman and Superman.
