Chapter 4372 - 3465: Midnight Sons (27)

"Don't give me that!" Stark waved his arms and said, "Why would you think I would blow up Roxxon Corporation's information center?! Does that sound like something I would do?"

"Then tell me, who does it sound like would do it?" Natasha asked, leaning on the pool table, "And don't tell me it was Shiller."

An idea flashed in Stark's mind; he remembered that yesterday Shiller had asked him to help apply for the Oregon flight path.

"Tony, I hope you understand the severity of this matter. No matter what Roxxon Corporation is doing behind the scenes, they haven't broken any laws publicly, and have even provided millions of jobs with a good reputation among the public."

"They experienced an incident almost akin to a terrorist attack, which could cause panic and be very disadvantageous for your subsequent investigation," Steve said rapidly.

"Wait! It was Shiller!" Stark pointed out a finger and said, "Yesterday when we came back from Jupiter, he said he wanted to land in Oregon. It must have been him!"

Steve and Natasha exchanged a glance.

"However, on the other hand," Natasha said, "it is exactly because Roxxon Corporation appears flawless on the surface that some special methods must be employed for investigation. Shiller must have his own considerations."

Stark looked at her incredulously, good grief, why when I bomb something it's a terrorist act, but when he does it, it's a consideration?

"At least he didn't hurt anyone," Steve said, "He did it at night, made a bit of noise, but everyone had gone home by then except for two security guards who got a scare, other than that nothing happened."

Stark turned to look at Steve, did even you with the thick eyebrows and big eyes defect?

"Hang on," Natasha suddenly said, "if Shiller planned to blow something up... is Jupiter still there?!"

The words made everyone in the room freeze, and Stark hurriedly shouted, "JARVIS!!!"

"Still there, sir. Jupiter is fine."

All four let out a sigh of relief.

Coulson said, "Are you sure it's Shiller? If the Director asks, is that what I say?"

"Hold on," Stark opened a laptop next to him and began searching the news about the destruction of the Roxxon information center.

"What are you looking for?" Natasha asked.

"I suspect Shiller did it on purpose," Stark said, "Yesterday, he raided the temple on Jupiter's moon and killed all the Dark Elves there. That should be a significant loss for the Dark Elves. If unchecked, the Dark Elves would definitely demand an explanation from Roxxon Corporation."

"But if Roxxon Corporation also suffers the same loss, they can dodge the blame by saying they were also victims."

"You're saying Shiller is balancing their relationship?" Natasha frowned in thought, tapping her chin with a finger, and said, "But what advantage does that give? To make their cooperation more solidified?"

"That's possible," Steve said, "Both sides being attacked signifies an external enemy. Under these circumstances, they should band together to confront the hidden enemy, strengthening their cooperation."

"That's exactly it," Stark snapped his fingers and said, "If we can't definitively prove Roxxon Corporation betrayed the human race with the location of teleportation portals and resources, then gathering evidence of their collusion with the Dark Elves is enough. Collaborating with a race that has previously invaded Earth is already a betrayal."

Stark quickly closed the computer and said, "JARVIS, keep an eye on Roxxon Corporation's New York headquarters immediately. And don't forget Washington."

"Where are you going?" Natasha asked.

"Back to Stark Building. I'm going to discuss technological cooperation with someone from Roxxon Corporation. If I show up in person, would Dario Ag dare to disrespect me?"

"You want to stall him to let the impatient Dark Elves come for him themselves? But would they dare set foot in Stark Building?"

"Of course not, so I'll set up surveillance around. If they can catch a glimpse of the Dark Elves, we can confirm Ag's unclear dealings with them."

"But if they're spotted around Stark Building, you'll also be suspect. Though I know it sounds bizarre, if someone schemes to frame you, it could spark public outcry."

"Here's the plan," Steve said, "I'll have the Avengers assemble. The moment the Dark Elves show up, we'll take them down. If we can get a confession, it solves everything."

Stark nodded, put on his coat, and briskly left the room. Natasha looked at Coulson and said, "Have Nick keep an eye on Shiller. I'll handle things here."

As soon as the news of the destruction of Roxxon Corporation's information center spread, all of New York was abuzz. In his office, Nick slapped his desk, making a deafening sound.

"I'll say it again, no matter how big a loss you've suffered, it doesn't give you the right to question me unless you can provide evidence of superpower users' involvement in the destruction!"

Opposite him stood a man in a suit with black hair. He wore sunglasses, obscuring his eyes, but his presence was formidable.

"We've already had experts evaluate, and the sudden flash appearing at the accident scene couldn't possibly have been caused by a normal person..."

"Experts? What kind of goddamn experts?!" Nick roared, "All experts related to superpower users work for my S.H.I.E.L.D. They won't do your dirty work, nor will they make any conclusions!"

"And if you expect me to hunt down the superpower perpetrator, at least give me a description or capabilities. Otherwise, how do you expect me to hunt? For a beam of light?!"

"This is obviously a superpower crime under S.H.I.E.L.D.'s jurisdiction. If you don't help me track it down, I'll sue you!"

"Then go ahead," Nick said, pointing to the door, "Go to Congress, the United Nations Security Council, or the Earth Federation Office. Find whoever you can. I'd like to see who can put me in jail!"

"I'm telling you, Ag, my workload is so goddamn overwhelming it could bury the Earth. If you insist on causing trouble at this crucial time, we'll have to thoroughly discuss last time's incident!"

Finished, Nick slammed the door on his way out. The man in the room's expression turned icy. He took out his phone, just about to make a call, when it rang.

"What? Stark invited me for a technology cooperation talk?... He said he'll be there in person? Alright, tell him I'll go."

Dario hung up the phone, his expression turning more pensive. After he left the office, Nick returned, adjusted his eye patch, scratched his head, and wondered aloud, "What is Shiller up to? Why suddenly bomb an information center?"

As he spoke, Carter burst in, saying, "Boss! There's a fight breaking out on New York's streets!"

"Is this your first day in New York, Agent Carter? Is a fight on the streets of New York some kind of news?"

"No, it's superheroes..."

"Alright, alright, is it the new Spider Man again? Who's he up against this time? Dr. Otto just got back from vacation, so if it's him, he's really unlucky." Nick laughed.

"No! It's Moon Knight!"

"Moon Knight is... who???"

Nick charged out of the office to the surveillance room, just in time to see two figures in the midst of a heated battle on the streets of Manhattan.

Half an hour earlier, at the Moonlight Temple, Shiller placed Little Black into the aircraft cabin and said through the cage, "Be good. I'm sending you for a vaccine. You'll get a can of food when you return."

"Have you named him?" Khonsu asked.

"Not yet," Shiller thought for a moment, "I've wanted to call him 'Arrogant,' but Arrogant would certainly disagree. Or 'Gray Mist,' but Gray Mist wouldn't agree either. So I plan to call him 'Nya.'

"Would Nya agree?"

"Definitely not, but he disagrees with lots of things. He also disagrees I don't pay my debts, yet I haven't, so why worry about one more thing?"

Khonsu gave a disapproving look.

Shiller waved a hand and changed from uniform to casual wear. He picked up the carriable box, walked out of the alley, and got in a car.

Just as he drove out of the street, his phone rang. He answered, and Danny's voice emerged, "Doctor, where are you? Can I come to see you now?"

"What happened, Danny?"

"Johnny's a bit off again; I might need some help from the Avengers. Can you take me to see them?"

"Where are you now?"

"On the edge of Brooklyn, close to Manhattan..."

"I need to go to Manhattan too. Find a corner to wait for me. I'll pick you up, and we can talk about your brother on the way."

After hanging up, Shiller focused on driving and soon spotted Danny waiting by the roadside.

Shiller intended to keep driving, but he noticed the little black cat he placed in the backseat seemed restless, so he said, "You drive, I'll feed the little cat."

Danny nodded and shifted to the driver's seat while Shiller opened the rear door, took the cat out of the carrier, and fed it with prepared treats.

The cat calmed down noticeably after receiving the treat, though from its glances, Shiller guessed it was more interested in the power poles outside.

Certain Danny couldn't see, Shiller slyly pulled out two coins. The cat expressed interest, but Shiller didn't give them, instead hiding them in his hand, flipping them to tease it.

Shiller, busy teasing the cat, and the cat, busy being teased, failed to notice a long Lincoln limousine approaching from the opposite lane. Meanwhile, Danny's eyes virtually ignited.

"Zill-Rap!"

The car tipped, colliding with the Lincoln on the opposite lane. Shiller was jolted, nearly hitting the front seat. He quickly checked on the little cat—it wasn't an ordinary cat, though it fell from his lap, it only landed on the floor without injury.

Shiller peered outside, seeing two men in black suits exit the car. He quickly got out, saying, "Sorry, my friend is undergoing psychological treatment recently; his mental state is unstable, so he might have been a bit distracted while driving. Are you all alright?"

Another figure alighted from the car's rear, dressed in a black suit, wearing sunglasses, embodying the demeanor of a successful individual despite the unusual attire.

"Hello, I'm Dario Ag. Is your friend okay? Does he need to go to the hospital for a checkup?"

Shiller noticed his gaze fixating on the driver's seat, while Danny struggled to control the flames in his eyes, as the Ghost Rider was about to emerge.

"He's fine," Shiller stepped forward, blocking his view, and said, "I'm Schiller Rodriguez. Nice to meet you, Mr. Ag. We have urgent matters and must leave immediately. You can contact me directly for any insurance procedures or compensations."

Shiller handed him a card, glanced towards Danny, and saw that Danny's gaze remained locked on Dario, clearly indicating his deep sins.

This is the trouble with Ghost Rider. They can't restrain themselves when faced with the sinful. But no matter what, Ghost Rider couldn't be released here.

"I'm sorry, you can't leave," Dario raised an eyebrow, "My car is precious, and the repair costs are high. You have to stay here until insurance takes responsibility."

"You said it," Shiller met his eyes, nodded slightly, and then turned to the driver's door, opening it to check on Danny.
