Chapter 205: Chapter 203: Sweat it out...

The next day... Athena woke up late on the bed. It was a very long night but, Athena still felt tired. When she opened her eyes reluctantly, and she saw Azrael packing their bags, and she quickly sat up.

"Are we going somewhere?" she asked.

He smiled. "Good morning... we’re going back to the country."

Athena’s eyes widened. "Really?"

He nodded with a small smile, even though it was clear he didn’t fully want to go. She jumped off the bed and ran to him, hugging him tightly.

His smile widened, and he hugged her back just as tightly.

"Thank you... I don’t know what I’d do without you."

He kissed the top of her head and said, "Go take your bath quickly."

Excited, Athena hurried into the bathroom, a spring in her step.

On the other hand, Eryx sat on the desk in an empty classroom, staring out the window.

His phone was in his hand, Athena’s picture glowing on the screen as his wallpaper. Her smile tugged at something painful in his chest, yet it still managed to pull a faint smile from him.

Even after everything, after she told him she was in love with Azrael, he couldn’t bring himself to hate her.

God, he missed her. And the ache was constant now.

He tried dialing her number again, but it went straight to unavailable. His fingers tightened around the phone.

Did she really block him? Why is always unavailable when he calls? Did she hate him that much? No. That couldn’t be true. Not after the other night. Not after everything she confessed to him. That hadn’t been a lie. It couldn’t have been.

The classroom door creaked open, snapping him out of his thoughts.

Adrianna walked in, a slow smile already on her lips.

Eryx looked away immediately, irritation settling on his face. If he doesn’t kill this pest, then he’s never going to be free.

Unbothered, she walked closer until she stood right in front of him. She placed her hands on the desk, effectively trapping him between her arms as she leaned forward. Two buttons of her shirt were undone, exposing smooth skin and a hint of cleavage meant to distract.

Eryx’s eyes flicked down for a brief second before lifting back to her face, his expression filled with pure disgust.

Adrianna noticed and smiled wider.

"Still staring at her picture like she’s the only woman in the world," she said boldly, her voice calm but sharp. "Doesn’t it get exhausting?"

"Get out." Eryx replied flatly.

Of course she didn’t, Instead, she leaned in a little more. "You know," she continued, unfazed, "most men would’ve moved on by now. But you? You’re still waiting for a girl who chose someone else."

His jaw clenched, but he stayed silent.

She leaned in closer instead of backing away, invading his space on purpose. "You know," she continued, unfazed, "if you spent half as much time looking at the girl standing right in front of you, you wouldn’t look so miserable."

"I said get out." Eryx said coldly.

Adrianna laughed softly. "Still rude. Still pretending you don’t feel anything." Her eyes flicked to his phone screen before locking back onto his. "She’s gone, Eryx. Gone."

His jaw tightened.

"But I’m here," she added, unapologetic. "I’ve always been here. Waiting for you to finally look at me the way you look at her."

Eryx straightened slightly, his voice sharp. "Don’t you dare compare yourself to Athena. You’ll lose every time. You can’t even compare your miserable self to the floor she walks on... so give up."

The smile on Adrianna’s lips didn’t falter. If anything, it sharpened. "Good," she said. "I don’t want to be her."

She leaned even closer and whispered.

"I want to be the one you turn to when she’s no longer an option."

Eryx’s eyes hardened. "You’re wasting your time."

Adrianna is the most shameless woman he had ever met. And he was actually surprised that, his treat don’t work on her anymore.

Adrianna stepped back slowly, eyes dark with challenge. "We’ll see," she said calmly. "People always say that... until they’re tired of being alone."

She sighed, then added casually, "Anyway, I’m here to invite you to my birthday party tomorrow night. A lot of students will be there, so don’t be scared. I won’t take advantage of you."

Eryx let out a short, humorless laugh. "I’m not coming."

Her brows lifted slightly. "You didn’t even think about it."

"There’s nothing to think about," he said coldly. "I don’t want to be there. I don’t want to be around you. And I definitely don’t want to pretend we’re anything."

That should have shut her down.

But still It didn’t.

Adrianna tilted her head, studying him. "You’re being cruel on purpose."

"Good," Eryx replied flatly. "Maybe then you’ll finally get it."

She crossed her arms. "You’re rejecting me like I did something wrong."

"You did," he snapped. "You keep pushing when I’ve told you no. Over and over again.""You did,"

Adrianna’s chin lifted, defiant. "You slept with me, Eryx," she said bluntly. "And it was so good I couldn’t stop thinking about it."

Something in his eyes went dead.

"That’s where you’re wrong," Eryx said quietly, his voice cutting like glass. "I don’t think about you. Not then. Not now."

Her breath stuttered.

"You keep holding onto one sex like it gave you a claim over me," he continued, cruel and unflinching. "It didn’t. It gave you a memory. That’s it."

"That thing you call just sex, meant something to me," she insisted.

"That’s your problem." he snapped. "Because to me, It meant I was foolish. It meant I was stupid. And it meant I learned exactly what I never want again."

The words landed hard.

"You weren’t special," he added coldly. "You were a one time that I regret. Don’t confuse access with importance."

Adrianna’s lips parted, but no words came out.

"Say it again," Eryx finished, his gaze merciless. "Bring it up one more time, and I’ll make sure you never get close enough to lie to yourself about it again."

Silence crushed the room.

Eryx turned and walked away, leaving Adrianna standing there with nothing but the truth he’d just torn into her.

Tears blurred Adrianna’s eyes as she grabbed her hair as a broken scream tore out of her throat in pure frustration.

"You’re mine, Eryx," she cried hoarsely. "Mine. Mine. Mine."

Her chest heaved as the words echoed around the empty classroom, twisted with desperation and obsession.

"I’ll do anything to get you back," she whispered shakily, her fingers tightening in her hair. "Anything."

Her gaze lifted slowly, no longer tearful but burning now, with something dangerous settling behind her eyes.

"You can pretend you don’t care," she muttered to the empty room. "You can lie to yourself. But you were mine once... and I’ll make sure you remember that."

She wiped her tears roughly, straightened her clothes, and forced her expression into calm.

After the foolishness Adrianna performed, Eryx headed straight to the basketball room, needing somewhere to clear his head.

The familiar scent of sweat and polished wood hit him as soon as he stepped inside. A few balls bounced against the floor, echoes filling the space.

Theo noticed him immediately.

"Hey, buddy," Theo said with a grin, spinning a basketball on his finger.

Eryx nodded in response, walking over and grabbing a ball from the rack. He bounced it once, then again, a little harder than necessary.

Theo studied him for a moment before speaking again. "You look like you’re about to commit a crime," he joked lightly. "Rough day?"

Eryx scoffed and toss his own ball away angrily. "You have no idea."

Theo tossed the ball toward him. "Wanna talk about it, or should we let you sweat it out first?"

Eryx caught the ball, exhaled slowly, and finally looked at his friend. "Let’s play," he said. "I’ll talk after."

Theo smiled knowingly. "Thought so."

Theo and Eryx had spent the last half hour running up and down the court, laughing, sweating, and teasing each other relentlessly.

Theo had come out on top, of course, winning the game with a triumphant grin, just like the last time they played in Chapter three hahaha...

Eryx collapsed flat on the floor, chest heaving, breathing heavily.

Theo sat beside him, the ball resting between his legs. "Time to talk," he said, eyes narrowing with concern. "What’s eating you alive?"

Eryx let out a rough laugh, rolling to his side. He pushed himself up slowly, shaking his red hair out of his face. "Adrianna... she invited me to her birthday party," he muttered.

Theo’s eyebrows shot up. "She invited you too? I don’t know who’s giving that girl guts." 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

Eryx let out another laugh, sharper this time, but it was laced with bitterness. "Guts?" he spat. "That girl... she’s insane. She doesn’t take no for an answer, Theo. She barges in, pushes herself into everything... she doesn’t care about boundaries, about what people feel."
