Dashing Student-Chapter 1089: Mistaken Identity
Looking at the guy ahead wearing his own face, fighting against numerous cultivators with ease, Chen Nan felt profoundly strange in his heart.
Yet through those emotionless eyes, Chen Nan quickly realized who this person truly was.
It was the Demon Ancestor!
When he first arrived here, the Demon Ancestor was very close to him, and what left the deepest impression on him were naturally those eyes, devoid of any warmth.
He couldn’t understand why the Demon Ancestor would use his face, but fortunately, it was the face he had disguised.
If he had used his original appearance, it probably would have attracted numerous enemies.
The battle ahead continued, yet no one could leave the Inverted Forest.
Some cultivators tried to sneak in, but were immediately forced back, as if the Demon Ancestor was toying with them.
Chen Nan didn’t recklessly move forward; instead, he quietly distanced himself from the battlefield, climbing a tree to observe.
He noticed several cultivators doing the same, clearly people with deep and careful minds.
Through observation, Chen Nan quickly discovered one thing.
The Demon Ancestor deliberately suppressed his cultivation, making the cultivators below think they could kill him.
At times, he would even intentionally reveal a flaw, making the cultivators believe that next time they would definitely succeed in killing him.
This way, he ensured no cultivator would leave.
"What is he trying to do? Does he intend to kill everyone?"
Chen Nan couldn’t understand, until suddenly a cultivator was struck by the Demon Ancestor’s sword, sent flying, and landed right on the tree where Chen Nan was perched.
After struggling briefly, the cultivator’s aura ceased, and he died completely.
Yet when Chen Nan looked at the body, he found it slowly melting, like snow thawing, transforming into blood and soaking into the soil.
Soon, even the blood disappeared.
It was as if something terrifying had completely digested the corpse.
Chen Nan was startled, quickly looking up at those enormous eyes, and immediately understood why the Demon Ancestor wanted to kill all these cultivators.
He wanted to absorb these corpses to regain his cultivation!
From beginning to end, this was a conspiracy!
When Chen Nan and the Divine Calculator inadvertently broke the first Ancient Altar Array, this plot had already begun.
The Demon Ancestor used those cultivators under restriction to spread the news that the Ancient Altar Array contained Heavenly and Earthly Treasures.
Once all the Ancient Altar Arrays were destroyed, they naturally found the Divine Hall.
And in the Demon Ancestor’s eyes, these cultivators were merely nourishment.
"What cruelty, I wonder how many will lose their lives now."
Chen Nan felt deeply moved but didn’t dare to intervene.
Firstly, he had no relationship with those cultivators; they came here out of greed, and paying the price was only fitting.
Secondly, Chen Nan needed them to draw the Demon Ancestor’s attention, allowing him to exploit the chaos.
However, how to bypass the Demon Ancestor’s obstruction was now a problem.
As Chen Nan was pondering his strategy, a figure fell from high above, hitting the ground heavily.
Who else could it be but the Young Master Duobao?
"Damn it, where is this place?!"
Young Master Duobao was startled by the towering trees around him, even a single weed taller than him, but quickly steadied himself.
He started searching for Chen Nan, shouting loudly, "You thief, come out here!"
Suddenly, he looked at the person besieged by other cultivators, crucially, that person glanced at him disdainfully, a mocking smile on his lips.
He couldn’t hold back any longer.
"You thief, you still dare to mock me, I’ll make you die!"
Young Master Duobao roared, four secret treasures flying out from his body, each exuding brilliant light: the Jade Bottle, the Golden Sword, the Silver Hammer, and the Bronze Lamp.
Apparently, these were his most prized artifacts.
The Bronze Lamp flew out abruptly, releasing terrifying waves of heat, and in the next moment, crimson flames surged forth, like a raging tempest, rushing forward!
This scene stunned Chen Nan on the tree, and then he savored the moment gleefully.
Obviously, Young Master Duobao mistook the Demon Ancestor for him; the indifferent eyes and mocking smile were standard expressions on that face, not directed at anyone in particular.
But Young Master Duobao thought he was being mocked, and thus was instantly enraged.
The overwhelming flames swept forward, causing other cultivators to retreat, looking back to see who was so fierce.
The Demon Ancestor snorted coldly, the longsword in his hand, snatched from an unknown cultivator, casually slashed, sending a tremendous Sword Qi from the blade.
With a swoosh, the surging flames were cut in two by one sword stroke.
"You thief, I will grind your bones to dust!"
Young Master Duobao gnashed his teeth; if his items hadn’t been stolen, he wouldn’t have pursued to the Southern Marsh!
All of this was caused by that thief!
So he vented all his anger on the Demon Ancestor.
"Die, go!"
The Golden Sword hummed as it shot out, in the blink of an eye fanning out into countless dense golden sword shadows, enveloping the Demon Ancestor like a storm.
At the same time, a mass of water gushed out from the Jade Bottle, and after being compressed into water bullets, they whistled towards the Demon Ancestor.
Even the Silver Hammer was activated, expanding instantly to the size of a mountain, crashing down on the Demon Ancestor!
This scene caused the surrounding cultivators to gasp, all looking at Young Master Duobao in astonishment.
Some recognized Young Master Duobao and called out in surprise.
"That’s Young Master Duobao, the owner of the Ghost Market!"
This exclamation drew attention, as everyone had heard of Young Master Duobao’s reputation.
Young Master Duobao ignored their stares, pointing at the Demon Ancestor.
"Everyone, help me slay this fiend, he has many treasures on him, I just want what’s been stolen from me!"
Everyone suddenly understood why Young Master Duobao was so enraged.
Turns out he was robbed.
They were already planning to eliminate the obstacle, and winning Young Master Duobao’s favor was a bonus, so why not?
"Don’t worry, young master, we’ll strike together!"
Young Master Duobao was surprised at his sudden popularity.
Facing the attacks of water bullets, the Golden Sword, and the giant hammer, the Demon Ancestor’s face showed displeasure, never before had he been so underestimated.
Yet, he suddenly remembered he was using someone else’s face, initially on a whim, never expecting the face’s owner to have attracted enemies.
"Ha, I overestimated you after all."
The Demon Ancestor murmured, realizing two months ago he sensed the restriction he left on Chen Nan had erupted, ensuring his survival was impossible.
The longsword in his hand suddenly burst with blinding sword light.
With just one strike, he neutralized all of Young Master Duobao’s attacks!
