Darkstone Code-Chapter 803 - 801: Livestream Spin Control
How happy are the rich?
The happiness of the rich is beyond imagination!
Besides the naked tobacco farmers, Lynch can even specify workers for each process behind the scenes. Lively girls are photographed one by one, placed in a photo album like merchandise, waiting to be selected.
This kind of happiness is unimaginable to those outside.
Some might say, what’s the difference between these girls and those sitting in the cabinets?
Actually, this notion itself is very wrong, because the girls in the album before Lynch are free, yet at the same time, one could say no amount of money can necessarily touch them.
Only when all factors have reached the upper or even top echelons of society does one have such qualifications.
After selecting the workers for each process, Lynch finally breathed a sigh of relief. There were too many girls in these albums before him, each so beautiful, it was really easy to be dazzled by choices.
After picking the final girl for the packaging process, Nancy closed the album.
"I have recorded all the information for you, Mr. Lynch. Thank you for choosing our company’s customized service. If you have any issues, you can call me anytime. I will be your communication envoy."
She gestured to the card on the table, and Lynch glanced at it, "Anytime?"
Nancy seemed not to catch any additional hidden meaning in the sentence, or perhaps there really wasn’t any, and she smiled sweetly, "Always happy to serve you, Mr. Lynch!"
Lynch was very satisfied; spending money to enjoy services is something he deserves.
At the same time, he thought it was about time to discuss the price, "How much do I have to pay for this?"
He hadn’t even taken out a check yet; a Federation cash check didn’t seem sufficient to cover this amount. He needed to have the bank transfer directly, or have someone get a promissory note from the bank.
"Mr. Lynch, you only need to pay two million Federation Sol, but if you could suitably exhibit your customized Kleve publicly, including its packaging and the Every Moment trademark, then you only need to pay one and a half million Federation Sol."
Every Moment is a very sincere and thoughtful company. If well-known figures in the Federation’s upper society all custom their services with their company, then it becomes an invisible advertisement!
Moreover, the effect of such advertising is far more effective than hiring a star for advertisement. By the time one reaches the level of high society, people’s attitude towards celebrities is no longer as obsessed and frenzied as those at the bottom of society.
In the eyes of the elite, celebrities aren’t much different from toys; it’s just that this toy happens to be living, but who says living things can’t be toys?
In contrast, those top figures, like Mr. Wardrick, Mr. Pato, Mr. Jeruno, these people are the true idols in the minds of the upper class.
Whatever they use, the value of that product skyrockets, and merely saying, "We have always been dedicated to providing the best service for Mr. So-and-so," can cause a crowd waving money to join in.
Sometimes, you are only a shared "hobby" away from making connections with the big names!
Lynch thought about it, "Give me an account number..."
Nancy, following Lynch’s request, gave him an account number. In front of Nancy, Lynch called Golden Exchange Bank and instructed them to transfer two million into the account of Every Moment.
Subsequently, Nancy also made a call, and the company confirmed the funds had been received. She smiled so widely it almost split her face.
For today’s business, she could earn at least a thirty thousand commission, and her salary level would rise by one rank, earning more than before.
After adding some notes on precautions, Nancy quickly left.
Upon her departure, Austin seemed somewhat disdainful of her.
"Do you know her?" Lynch was somewhat curious. He could see that Austin’s expression and attitude were driven by an emotion called "disdain."
Austin shook his head, "I don’t know her, Mr. Lynch."
"Then just now..." Lynch raised his hand, gesturing towards the door, "I thought you knew her."
Austin shook his head again, "I don’t know her, but I do know Every Moment, Mr. Lynch."
"Let’s hear it then," Lynch figured he might as well listen as there was nothing else to do.
Austin thought for a while, then found what she thought was a good angle to cut in, and began to recount something about Every Moment that Federation people might not be very aware of.
"Behind this renowned Kleve production and sales company in the Federation is actually one of Mariluo’s largest warlords. They use profits on the Federation side to continuously expand their personnel and weapons and then start wars everywhere."
"As far as I know, Every Moment’s president is the second son of the ’Redwood’ Commander of Mariluo..."
The full name of ’Redwood’ is the "Mariluo Redwood National Liberation Front," a typical local warlord, and a powerful one.
The main difference between them and other warlords is that they know how to make money, all of which is orchestrated by the Redwood Army’s commander-in-chief’s eldest son. It’s said his eldest son studied economic and financial management courses at Jeruno for several years and found the right development path after returning.
Every Moment is backed by warlords, by land lots, and by the world’s best Kleve tobacco leaves. Their development has clearly surpassed that of other warlords.
This also causes most other warlords to band together to fight against a few powerful warlord forces. The domestic battles are endless, yet no results can be obtained.
The weaker ones band together, sometimes even making powerful warlords like Redwood helpless.
When things get truly fierce, enemies emerge from all directions. Even Redwood cannot withstand everyone’s attacks.
Besides selling Kleve through Every Moment, they are involved in human trafficking, smuggling firearms, and contraband—whatever makes money.
It’s a lawless country. The strong have the loudest voices. Austin once crossed paths with Redwood’s smuggling convoy at the border.
There’s no possibility for dialogue between both parties. They fire upon sight without negotiations.
After hearing all this, a clearer and more vivid image of a country appears in Lynch’s mind—an extraordinary country.
In fact, at this stage, with or without external interference, Mariluo cannot unify. Power has been scattered for too long; no one wants to let go.
And even if someone manages to unify it, it might not necessarily be better than the present.
Around five in the afternoon, the President’s public speech began.
The venue for the speech is still in Bupen, yet there will be television broadcasts and live coverage. It’s too cold outside, so aside from some fervent fans attending in person, others watch through television.
The speech is held at Federation University.
Federation University was the first public university in Bail Federal’s history, established in the Federation’s forty-second year.
Before this, there were no universities in the Federation. Even in the first year after its establishment, nationwide admissions only brought nineteen students.
These nineteen students nearly all became top experts in various fields of the Federation’s future. Some say this was the only standout class of the Federation’s public universities.
Afterwards, public universities struggled to produce shining achievements, while private universities frequently began demonstrating outstanding results.
Although Federation University isn’t highly ranked, its status is unique. The President’s decision to hold the speech here is well-considered.
On television, the President walks up to the podium with head held high and chest out, greeting everyone with waving arms amidst a very noisy scene.
The fans are wildly screaming repeatedly. Those below twenty and above fifty make up the main demographic.
Oddly, the President’s fan base spans peculiar age groups. They’re either very young or quite old, with the backbone age group notably absent.
This is directly related to the sudden shift from a conservative to radical national policy. As part of the fundamentally important social structure under the previous conservative society, middle-aged people aren’t as quick to adapt to changes in the country’s development direction as the young and old.
To put it simply, young and old people’s worlds are relatively simple, easily swayed by emotions, unlike middle-aged people who have many considerations, making them less fervent and difficult to become manic supporters.
After a long period of screaming, the President finally suppresses the chaotic calls.
"Thank you, I’m very grateful to everyone for attending this speech. I didn’t expect so many to come, thank you very much."
He nods, looking at the crowd again, displaying a satisfied expression, "I’ve given many speeches recently with varied content each time. Last night, while considering today’s topics, it suddenly occurred to me to talk about the past and future."
"We can’t always evade the past, nor invariably assume the future is inevitably beautiful."
"Forgetting the past is betraying ourselves. Perhaps we’ve erred, but at least we’ve recognized and corrected it. By discovering our mistakes, we found the right path!"
"We mustn’t forget our past; society mustn’t forget the past; the country mustn’t forget the past."
"The past, history, and everything that has happened, spur us on like a whip!"
"Only by being loyal to ourselves and confronting all past mistakes, can we embrace a bright future..."
The President’s speech lacks explicit targeting, making Lynch feel he’s whitewashing the Conservative Party.
He avoids discussing the absurdities under escapism but instead emphasizes acknowledging the past and that mistakes lead to finding the right direction.
It makes Lynch wonder—did the President make some compromise or deal with the Conservative Party again?
Perhaps slightly whitewashing the Conservative Party’s past flawed political guidelines in exchange for their support.
After all, for at least the last decade or so, the Conservative Party can arguably be the Federation’s largest party!
Even though they’re now temporarily out of the political core, their strength remains formidable.
