Chapter 1109: Just Stay Alive

The empire was located in Battlefront City. It was a magic city that had the appearance as if it was tiered and built one layer on top of the other like that of a cake. Beautiful water streamed from the main palace went down these water streams until it had eventually hit the main river that connected out towards the sea.

It was a peaceful place, and there was one unique feature of the city compared to others in the Light Faction. There were no clans present in the city itself. Pagna warriors were still welcome to come and go, but mainly for visiting or on short-term business.

No clans were allowed to be established in the city. On top of that, it was claimed that there was a number of new technologies constantly being produced by the empire, as well as them training the most powerful soldiers to be ready in existence.

"So this is what we're up against?" Impress said. "If they're as useless as the wall guards from before, then there is no problem."

"Do not get too hasty and cause too many problems," Kawak said as they walked through the streets, going up the selected tiers, heading to the large palace. It spread far and wide in light-colored, sand-like brickwork.

On the edge, looking from down below, a large amount of guards, including cannon-like devices, were placed on the edge of the wall. It was almost like a border between two cities, between the palace and Battlefront City.

"The people here and the army are what we want to utilize on top of whatever it is the empire has been hiding up its sleeve for the longest time," Kawak stated. "If we get rid of the emperor and the top officials and force them to submit to us, then we will have a larger army to fight with ourselves."

"Are you not slightly worried?" Cicle asked as he stopped. There was a large staircase to them and the very top tier. The top tier still had several houses, but it was a place that was off- limits to the general public.

"The empire, no not just the empire, but all of the kingdoms in Pagna, I imagine have been preparing for this day, for a fight against the warriors," Cicle said, concerned. "If the war between Pagna warriors ever started and the warriors were united under one banner, no doubt they would expect us to try and take over at some point in time."

"No matter how strong of a pact or rules, there would have always been that worry in the back of their mind."

"Ha!" Impress laughed. "Have you not heard of all of the other reports, how none of the Pagna warriors have had any trouble or discovered such a thing? They have been lucky that we, who could have done this at any time, were being more content with ourselves."

"I'm just saying, I don't think anyone would be as foolish to think that no one would ever break the pact in their lifetime. If the rumors aren't true, then they have to have prepared something else."

The three stopped as they looked up the large staircase and saw the guards at the front. "Regardless, if either of you are right, it doesn't stop us from what needs to be done," Kawak answered as he ran up the stairs, and the same was done by the other two.

The guards quickly noticed what was happening, but it was too late. Like a flash, the three had disappeared in front of their eyes, and the swords were impaled into the side of their necks, passing through them like butter.

Pulling them out, they quickly looked for the next target, seeing them on rooftops, they split from their position and dashed forward, slicing down their opponents one by one. They were targeting only those guards that would cause a fuss.

Kawak then noticed that there were also those by the guard tower who had become privy to the scene in front of them. After taking out a guard on the rooftop, he quickly picked up a weapon from the floor and hurled it through the air, slicing right through two of the warriors before they reached the bell.

"Quick and to not cause a fuss, let's get this over with!" Kawak said.

Instead of rushing through the front and going through the large number of guards, now with all of the patrolling guards taken care of, the three of them ran across the outside of the palace, using the small openings as footholds they could kick themselves off and reach certain places and positions that only an excellent climber could reach, and with much difficulty as well.

This was the clear difference between Pagna warriors and regular citizens. Right after, they had broken through a door that led them to the top floor of the manor.

"I still think we should have just burst into his room," Impress declared. "Grabbed him right there and then and demanded him to hand everything over."

"Right... but you do things like that, it causes anger, people rebel or try to fight back. If the emperor has already been killed before they realize it, then they will lose any will to even fight, and the image of the enemy in their minds is much bigger than they imagined."

A long hallway led to the throne room, and several guards were stationed. Seeing the warriors, they started to fire an automatic bow that shot out several iron arrows at a fast speed right at them.

Impress stood in front of the others, deflecting the iron arrows, and she didn't just deflect them in a random way. She had done so the iron arrows impaled their very own guards from even reaching them.

"What are these monsters... the warriors, are they far stronger than we imagined!" The man standing in front of the Emperor's door said, holding onto the automatic iron arrow machine. He fired out two more arrows, and with it, Impress spun her body.

The flat part of her sword hit the arrow and deflected it right back, stabbing the man in the head, causing him to fall to the floor.

"You have been quite enthusiastic since the fall of your current elder," Kawak said. "But we will need that type of spirit right now."

Right in front of them was the door to the Emperor's room. With this, they would have completed the task given to them by Alter. Kawak didn't really know what Henio had planned to do, but right now it was important to just stay alive.
