Danmachi: Is It Wrong to Be the Main Character in Orario?-Chapter 775: A Conversation Between Three Men
The three men who had been kicked out stood at the doorway, exchanging looks.
Finn took in Bell’s expression—calm as always. Not a flicker of emotion. As if he were completely confident in Ais’s growth this time.
"Bell, what do you think about Ais’s progress?"
Bell didn’t seem troubled at all.
"These past three months, the ’Sword Princess’ has improved tremendously. I’ve been by her side watching it the entire time."
"The only thing that concerns me is that her daily-life skills seem to have regressed."
"Her reactions to ordinary situations have gotten slower, and the way she speaks has become more and more logical. I’m not sure why."
"What do you think?"
Finn and Gareth both felt something was off. For the past three months, the only person who could have influenced Ais was you. Shouldn’t you be the one reflecting here?
Struggling to suppress a retort, Finn still offered Bell a reminder.
"I think Ais’s changes are directly related to how she’s been living these past three months."
"My influence?"
Bell wasn’t stupid—he understood what Finn was implying immediately.
But he still couldn’t figure out why training with him for three months had made Ais turn out like this.
"I didn’t give her any unusual instruction. I just corrected her attitude as an adventurer and emphasized the safety issues one must keep in mind in the deep floors."
That’s exactly the reason!
Both Finn and Gareth felt this had to be the direct cause of Ais’s changes.
They knew Bell’s view of adventurers was completely different from that of normal people.
It was because of this that Bell had been able to carefully hide himself since arriving in Orario. The gods had spent three months searching for him, and not a single extra clue had surfaced. Their only choice had been to gather hints from those who spent time around Bell.
"What exactly did you say regarding those two points?"
Bell could tell Finn believed his words were the main cause of Ais’s shift, but he genuinely didn’t think he’d said anything wrong.
And it wasn’t something he needed to hide—he had no issue explaining.
"I told her that an adventurer needs to understand what they truly pursue. To reach that pursuit, they must give everything they have. But even while burning with passion, they must keep a calm mind."
"Adventurers encounter all kinds of situations and can easily get dragged into unexpected trouble. So when something happens, you don’t have to choose perfectly right away—your mind just needs to stay calm."
"Only by staying calm in any situation can you handle all kinds of trouble more effectively."
The other two listened and nodded. That was indeed one of the essential qualities for an adventurer.
Finn strongly agreed—remaining calm was crucial.
"For an adventurer, a cool head is vital. Some problems can’t be solved with irritation or impulsiveness. Only by staying composed and analyzing things rationally can you reach the right answer."
Gareth, despite being a dwarf prone to roughness, was often meticulous in handling matters. He too agreed completely with the importance of a calm mind.
"Though this old man often handles things without a cool head, I’m certain Ais has a level-headed mind."
"As for an adventurer’s pursuit—if it were the past, this old man would’ve said Ais had serious problems. Even if she kept her passion for adventuring, she would’ve ended up walking straight toward self-destruction."
Bell understood what Gareth meant and let out a soft sigh.
"Her stubbornness and refusal to bend mean Ais is destined to smash straight into a wall without ever looking back."
"Seeking strength for revenge isn’t wrong. But pursuing strength to the point of turning yourself into a killing machine definitely is."
"And the end of the road called revenge... there’s usually nothing there. Once the revenge is done, all that’s left is emptiness."
"I can already picture Ais turning into a hollow ’doll’ afterward."
"Ahh..."
Gareth, feeling the same weight, sighed right along with Bell, the two turning into a pair of worried elders.
"If only that girl could understand this."
"No, I think she does understand."
Gareth believed Ais didn’t get it, but Bell was convinced she did.
"Her mama must have whispered it into her ear countless times. I don’t think Ais is confused. She just sees it as a choice."
"To her, revenge matters more. So for revenge, she gave up everything else."
"Even if it meant becoming a ’doll’ who doesn’t even know how to smile."
Gareth’s face instantly grew serious.
"That little brat... she really doesn’t know the meaning of danger."
This wasn’t a joke. Giving up everything for revenge? Even someone completely unhinged wouldn’t make that choice lightly.
Gareth couldn’t stand the thought of Ais—someone he viewed almost like a junior—making that kind of decision. He felt he needed to sit her down for a proper talk.
"Alright, alright. That was what the old Ais would’ve chosen, not the Ais we have now."
Seeing what Gareth was gearing up to do, Finn rolled his eyes and tugged him back.
"Ais is definitely an impulsive kid. Sometimes she rushes into things without considering whether she can even handle them. Simply put, she’s a little brat who loves acting tough."
"In the past, yes—Ais channeled all of her passion into revenge. But now, do you really think she’s still like that?"
With Finn’s reminder, Gareth finally snapped out of it.
The Ais of today wouldn’t keep forcing rapid growth out of spite or vengeance. She wouldn’t put revenge at the heart of everything. What’s driving her now is probably the desire to face Aria and Albert.
Different goals naturally lead to different changes.
"There’s no need to worry about the Ais we have now."
Even though she still had plenty of problems, Finn believed that at least when it came to her motivation for growing stronger, there was no longer anything to fear.
At the very least, once she achieved her goal, Ais wouldn’t turn into a "puppet" who only knew how to kill.
