Chapter 79: Damon’s Message To The Universe Will - End

Damon stood at the bow of the ship, the captain and the rest of his numerically halved crew standing behind him with fearful expressions. This past hour had been hell, with Damon showing unparalleled ruthlessness by killing any sailor who slacked for even a second, making them rush to the shore faster than the ship could handle and causing extensive damage.

Now that they were here, they were happy to drop off this brown-skinned death god who seemed to treat human life even less than they did.

Damon turned to the captain and crew with a slight smile on his face.

"That wasn’t so difficult, was it?" Damon mused, his silvery-brown eyes glinting with amusement.

The captain and his remaining crew didn’t dare speak, their faces pale and their bodies rigid, as if any sudden movement would trigger Damon’s wrath all over again.

The last hour had been a brutal reminder that he was not human in the way they understood, especially the way he cut down their comrades without hesitation as well as the way the ship itself seemed to freeze under his presence during the battle, on top of the way he had forced them into peak efficiency under pain of death.

Now, standing at the edge of the deck, Damon took a deep and slow breath, inhaling the salt-laden wind, the distant coastline just barely visible as a dark sliver against the endless horizon. Given the time left and the objectives he had to attempt to fulfill, he had no intention of waiting around any longer.

He gave the captain one last casual glance, then stepped off the ship as the crew gasped—some in shock, some in disbelief—as Damon’s body fell toward the churning sea below.

But instead of crashing into the waves, a platform of solid ice burst into existence beneath him, forming a curved surface that caught his descent.

More ice extended outward in a perfect bridge, allowing Damon to land as lightly as if stepping onto a normal floor. Without breaking stride, he began walking across the ocean, each step leaving behind delicate, frost-laced footprints before they dissolved into the sea.

The sailors watched in stunned silence, some making warding gestures like the holy cross, as if trying to dispel an evil omen.

The captain exhaled deeply, rubbing his temples before barking orders. "Turn the ship around! Set course away from here... now!"

The crew scrambled to obey by rapidly hoisting sails and adjusting the ropes, eager to put as much distance between themselves and this walking nightmare as possible.

Damon slowed his pace, coming to a stop atop the glassy ice bridge when he was safely away from the ship. The young man turned slightly, watching the ship tilt its sails, catching the wind as it prepared to vanish into the horizon.

BOOM!!!

A massive explosion ripped through the hull, lighting up the horizon like fireworks.

There was a second explosion... then a third.

Fire erupted from below deck, swallowing the masts in an instant as the sound of splintering wood and screaming sailors was drowned out by the roar of the inferno.

Damon’s expression didn’t change.

He simply stood there, watching as the ship—the very vessel that had once carried him—was consumed by fire, the force of the blast sending debris flying in all directions.

Flaming wreckage rained down upon the water while smoke curled into the sky, blackening the air like a miasma of evil. The dying vessel groaned, its structure collapsing inward as it began its final descent into the abyss.

Damon exhaled slowly.

"...The best possible outcome, huh?" he murmured.

His gaze remained fixed on the burning wreckage, eyes gleaming with something unreadable.

In truth, from the moment he decided to forgo the wishes of the Universe Will and stick to his own path, he expected it to retaliate, but his expectation was actually far less than reality.

The Universe Will was a supreme will, a disembodied creature that was the amalgamation of the faith, thoughts, life, and all things within the universe, from all races to all creations to all substances. It was not a Heavenly Dao type of thing nor was it like some Skynet AI... it was far greater than that.

But this supreme will was in its infancy, so there were certain things it could not do. Premier of them was its inability to forcefully descend upon any living thing, which necessitated the need for Providence.

Hah, ’Providence’.

A useless stat that had nothing to do with a species’ natural traits. Power, Mobility, Fortitude, and Mentality we could understand as things relating to the physical and mental nature of a living creature.

But Providence? Where did that come from?

If you were going to add such an abstract thing alongside the four realistic stat categories, then why not throw in Charisma or Wisdom too?

The Human Race had EX Providence... pfff, nonsense.

Providence, and how much a species gets, was solely decided by the Universe Will. Godin and his goblins were a good sort, able to sniff out ways to make money that even benefited you, the Universe Will, and your grand plans.

Why did they not have EX Providence?

Because we all knew that the Goblins had squeezed out their luck of ten thousand generations to have Godin discover such a method and it was extremely unlikely that they might find a new method that could impact the plan.

So like tissue paper after being used to wipe, they were discarded by the Universe Will that only had one goal in this entire universe; the acquisition of more Chaos Essence.

So the human race had EX Providence? Why?

Hehe, wasn’t it because they were a unique species with a powerful racial trait, indicating that they could harvest more Chaos Essence per attempt compared to other, lower species? Such a species was worthy of investment... and close monitoring.

The dragon fears not its own claws, but dreads the day they grow fangs of their own.

And then there was Damon, the current Prime Rep of this species with three EX abilities. If there was anyone who could dig deep into the Chaos Realm and harvest Chaos Essence like a whale swallowing water, who could it be if not for him?

So it was imperative that this... elite worker... was monitored closely and brought under heel, lest he ’embezzle’ funds from the company, no?

With that in mind, it had sweetened the deal for him, giving him nepo-baby benefits and free EX achievable objectives along with top-tier items, even a Divine Item that nobody else on earth had reported getting. Even in the entire universe, the number of Divine Items like the Golden Stool were limited, and each one was invaluable.

All the Universe Will wanted was something simple in return, just a little investment in Providence.

But the more the Universe Will wanted it, the more Damon did not want to give it. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com

Women would understand this more than men, but when someone shows that they desire you and even do ridiculous things for it, you begin to feel wary. You wonder why you buy her flowers and do all the nice stuff but she still walks away with the guy who only bought her a coffee; it was because of the feeling you gave.

The lasses who were tricked into the UAE with $30,000 pay tags and foolishly went were greeted with horrors beyond their expectations, having to have sex with pets and eat feces as part of the sexual perversions of the rich oil oligarchs.

They got their money for sure, but they lost their soul because of it.

Damon didn’t want to end up like that, lured by the endless benefits and price tag only to have to pay a huge price in return.

So he rejected the Universe Will and it seemed determined to teach him a lesson, perfectly embodied by this instance. The moment Damon saw those objectives, he had smiled because he realized that the initial plan he developed to deal with the retaliation of the Universe Will would have to be reconsidered.

If his Nepo-baby objectives were said to be guaranteed EX as long as he exerted slight effort, then these objectives could be said to be assured F unless he went all out.

Escape with minimal impact? Reach the shore? Take back any sold artifacts? All in less than 2 hours? Hah.

Each objective hindered and counteracted the other, such that fulfilling them all would be something even a level 20 person would struggle to do, much less the current level 7 Damon.

So in light of that, he simply made a decision, a decision that made him rejoice in his free will even more.

If he couldn’t fulfill the objectives and get rewards, he would then harvest all the Worldly Essence he could get by killing everything—inocents and guilty alike—while forgoing the objectives apart from doing the barest minimum to get a passing grade.

Damon raised a hand and snapped his fingers casually, the last remnants of his ice bridge shattering and dissolving into the ocean, leaving him standing alone upon the water’s surface on a small circle of ice.

Then, with a wry chuckle, he tilted his head upward and spoke—not to himself or to any surviving crew drowning in the sea—but to something greater.

"I hope you’re watching, Universe Will."

His voice was calm, his smile razor-sharp without being malicious or combative. He wasn’t here to fight the Universe Will, as that was a losing battle, rather just wanting to send a message.

"Because I certainly am." Damon concluded gently as he turned away from the sinking wreckage and began walking toward the distant shore.
