Damned Healer-Chapter 708: Long-awaited Revenge
Darian clenched his fists hard, and his face twisted. He could barely imagine the pain he caused everyone in his family, especially... Niara. She must've been devastated and alone.
But he didn't have any choice. That was the result of not becoming strong enough.
When he met Meru, she had been very clear about the danger he was facing. She gave him the path to grow stronger, collecting the books, and told him the safest route, which was rising through the shadows.
Instead, he chose his own path and ended up revealing himself way too early.
That led to him being captured by the demons and staying away for 10 years. He gained a lot in the end, but possibly lost more than he gained. Because he lost the route that allowed him to obtain the books more quickly.
Only later did he understand: with every new book he obtained, Meru could teach him better things, and his strength multiplied.
In the end, he kept following his own path and, in the final battle... he ended up dying.
If he had focused more on himself, stopped trying to protect and elevate so many people... if he had gotten all the books faster...
"Do you regret it?"
Suddenly, Meru's soft voice sounded, pulling him out of his stupor.
Darian turned to her with a pained expression. He moved his lips, trying to say yes... but... he couldn't.
"I did what I felt I had to do. If I could go back in time, I would've done the same, but I'd do it perfectly and wouldn't let my death happen again."
He answered with what came straight from the depths of his soul.
Meru's expression changed; a rare, satisfied smile appeared on her beautiful face.
"You two are, in fact, alike." Ruri's voice sounded along with a laugh. "It's not just a father and son thing, but something much deeper."
That gigantic figure merely snorted in response.
Darian took a deep breath, trying to calm his emotions. The memories of when he was Denil were like a blade in his mind. Knowing that he himself had done such absurd things and hurt so many people was terrifying.
"Boy, the past can't be changed. You read about my story, right? I guarantee I did things a million times worse than you." That figure said calmly.
"In life, planting is optional, but harvesting is mandatory. Everything you and I planted one day, we've already harvested. All your other lives are inside your mental sea; I advise you to look at them little by little. But I can tell you in advance that you paid with interest for everything. The greatest proof that you learned from it all was that, in your previous life, you instinctively wanted to plant only good things as much as possible. As for the harvest... look at yourself."
Darian heard that and focused on himself.
Everything he built in the past was still with him. Nothing was lost; after all, the power of a Spiritual Guardian had always been in his soul, not in his body.
"After dying, the laws force anyone to lose everything and restart. Not even your memories can return. But you planted good karma with the world and greatly helped more than one universe. So I was able to fully recover you and reincarnate you." The figure continued.
Darian's eyes widened. He felt a terrible and incomprehensible power flowing through his veins. It was his Celestial bloodline. He now...
...had infinite potential to grow. In fact, his death resulted in him opening a path to become even stronger in the future.
"!"
At that moment, Darian remembered something very important, focusing on the center of his soul.
There, he saw his Spiritual Inventory, and his heart sped up.
But when he tried to enter... something blocked him completely.
"I sealed it." That figure's voice sounded again. "Don't worry, those four and everything you had were perfectly recovered. They're fine, but in a coma state. Unfortunately, saving them was something beyond your karma. They are separate lives and were supposed to have died normally. Well, you wouldn't accept that, right? That's why I saved them and sealed them inside you. Only when you reach immortality and your power is above the laws of the world, will you be able to break that. Otherwise... I'd be breaking the rules."
Darian's eyes trembled, feeling such overwhelming relief that he couldn't contain it.
"Thank you, father." He said, emotionally.
The figure nodded. Soon after, Darian sighed and looked him in the eyes.
"I have to go back. My wife and siblings need to know I'm okay."
The figure's face didn't change.
"You can't. Not yet." Meru was the one who spoke.
Darian turned to her seriously. "Why?"
"After the Divine Protection Universe was saved, the Spiritual Guardians received a new main mission. That mission... is precisely in another universe, the same one that the missionary controls." 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
"WHAT?!" Darian's eyes widened. That was insane. If even he had died, how were the Spiritual Guardians supposed to defeat him?
"You underestimate yourself." Meru snorted, reading his thoughts.
"The Manifestation you created isn't something ordinary. Even I didn't expect that. But when you exploded, your will managed to distort reality and curse that figure. Even though he was in another universe, and only a fragment of his power, soul, and will was destroyed, your curse crossed the laws of the universe and struck him."
Darian's eyes widened. Remembering that fight, he really had felt a power capable of distorting reality, like a blessing.
"In the end, that figure didn't expect something like that, and his soul and body were contaminated. Even being an immortal, your curse was so terrible it could kill him. Unfortunately, he acted fast and cut off a large part of himself to remove it. In the end, he was gravely injured and sealed himself in that universe." Meru continued slowly.
"That's why the new mission isn't impossible. They were sent to the universe controlled by that missionary to destroy all his forces. Even the Spiritual Sovereigns and immortals who were once simple Spiritual Guardians now have permission to go help. In the end, if they manage to reach the enemy within 5 thousand years, they can kill him before he fully recovers."
Darian listened seriously. This was truly an even more dangerous main mission than the previous one.
Suddenly, his gaze changed. She said he couldn't go now, so...
"Wait, how long has it been since I died?" he asked, turning to his father.
He snorted and answered calmly, "In the time of the Universe of Heaven's Will, it's been 5 thousand years. In the time of the Universe of Immaculate Light, where that missionary rules, time passes the same."
Darian felt his heart stop.
Meru added, "Don't worry too much, not yet. Those two siblings of yours are truly talented. They managed to become Spiritual Sovereigns along with others. They led the army and fought in that place until they reached the enemy. They had a great battle, which happened shortly before you were born here. The result... they lost."
"But no one died. As for the enemy, who was close to fully recovering, he suffered heavy injuries. I estimate that in, at most, 100 years, he'll recover again."
Darian let out a relieved sigh.
Ruri looked Darian in the eyes and explained, "You shouldn't go now. Because even while injured, he fought against a dozen Spiritual Sovereigns and still won. You, at your peak, could you do the same?"
Darian swallowed hard. Of course not. He could defeat one Spiritual Sovereign, maybe even two together, depending on the circumstances. A dozen together and perfectly coordinated? That was madness.
Ruri continued seriously, "You have around a hundred years, and now you have everything to ascend and become a thousand times more powerful, because our blood runs through your veins. We were guiding you toward that even before you awakened your memories. You must focus on your cultivation here. The Celestial Cultivation is special and comes from the power of your father's Chaos Tree. After reaching the seventh realm, you can easily break through to immortality. That will also awaken your bloodline. When that day comes, you can return and have your long-awaited revenge."
Darian took a deep breath and nodded, understanding. His parents had bet on him because they felt that a hundred years could be enough for him to become an immortal, even without his memories. When that day came, they would return his memories.
Even so, Darian had surprised them.
Darian looked at the three of them, not knowing what to say.
He had read their story so many times and used it as the foundation for everything he learned to reach where he did in his previous life. Little did he know he was so deeply connected to both of them. And now... he had become someone so close.
That figure sensed something and turned to the two women.
They nodded.
"We have to go. Your opportunity has arrived." Meru said lightly, leaving Darian confused.
The next second, the three of them simply disappeared, as if they had stepped into the Void.
