Chapter 113: Chapter 113

Fourth Uncle’s cousin had sent her back and also brought her bicycle back.

Pei Min still rode her bike to school the next day.

When she returned to the office, she was surprised to see Hao Qinghui had also come to work despite being injured.

She couldn’t help but express concern, "Mr. Hao, how’s your foot feeling?"

Hao Qinghui smiled and nodded at her, "Thanks to Mr. Yang’s medicine, it’s much better. It doesn’t seem to be a big deal, so I came over."

Although Pei Min was still somewhat dubious about his claim of it not being a big deal, she saw that he was acting as if nothing was wrong and decided not to fuss over it. She nodded, "Alright then, just be careful."

The teachers in the office couldn’t help but inquire about the story behind their interaction, to which Hao Qinghui explained briefly, "Master Shen kindly borrowed a bicycle from Mr. Yang to send me home."

Everyone nodded in understanding.

Pei Min organized her lesson plans on the desk and got ready to go teach.

Hao Qinghui seemed to glance at her lesson plan, curious, he asked, "Does Mr. Yang write lesson plans every day? They look really neat with structured steps."

Pei Min glanced at her own lesson plans, written in a regular notebook, it was the page she had turned to for the class she was about to teach. Writing lesson plans was her nightly homework; perhaps some teachers didn’t need it, aside from those well-versed and experienced, anyone else would just be negligent.

She liked to write down the steps and content of the lesson in detail, read through the texts multiple times, and memorize them. Only when she had a thorough understanding did she feel confident standing at the podium. It was a part of her personality, this fastidiousness that followed her everywhere she went.

She smiled politely at him, "Thank you. It’s written so that I can understand it. I need to go teach my class now, we can chat another time when we’re free."

Hao Qinghui smiled in response and quickly gathered the items on his desk as well, looking as if he was in a hurry to get to class.

When she got back to the classroom and looked around, she noticed the effect of her perfect attendance reward was very evident; today, every student had shown up.

As she entered, the children stood up in unison, loudly and clearly shouting, "Good morning, teacher!" almost as if they could lift the roof off the building.

Pei Min couldn’t help but smile and returned the greeting, "Good morning, students!" and told everyone to sit down.

Although she knew this method was only a temporary solution and couldn’t last forever, she still felt comforted and moved. At the very least, it was effective for now, and she hoped she could keep it up.

After class, to her surprise, a little friend brought her a bouquet of flowers, a small bunch of wildflowers, chasing after her at the office door. It was a cute little girl with two braids, her round cheeks flushed and slightly shy, "Mr. Yang, these are for you."

Pei Min was taken aback for a moment, then bent down to accept them, touching the girl’s head tenderly, "Xiao Li, thank you. I really love them."

The little girl stood still, standing up straight and softly said, "Teacher, I should be thanking you. My dad let me come to school today, saying I wasn’t much help around the house anyway, and that by staying at school I could get an egg reward, so he sent me. Mr. Yang, I really love school." Her voice turned bashful by the end, as soft as a mosquito’s whisper.

This was the little girl who had been absent the other day, her classmates had said she stayed home to take care of her younger brother instead of coming to school.

Pei Min hugged her, speaking softly, "Alright, I understand, so you must cherish the opportunity to attend class, okay? The effort you put in will surely pay off; you have to keep at it."

The little girl nodded, looked up firmly, and said, "Mr. Yang, I will keep at it, I definitely won’t let you down!"

Pei Min let her go, gently patting her back, and smiled in response, "Okay, I believe in you. Now, go back to class."

The little girl skipped away, clearly very happy.

Yang PeiMin watched her retreating figure and felt happy herself.

"Mr. Yang is not only beautiful in appearance but also has a beautiful heart!" Hao Qinghui stood beside her unexpectedly, smiling warmly at her.

Yang PeiMin turned her head and felt a bit embarrassed, "Mr. Hao is kidding. I just did what I should do. The students are very cute." She was surprised that he, who seemed so stern and earnest, could offer such lavish praise.

Hao Qinghui nodded slightly, standing straight as if adjusting the expression on his face to something more serious, and then said, "Speaking of which, I should also thank Mr. Yang. Children know to show gratitude, and as teachers, it’s even more important to set an example. I would like to give Mr. Yang a token of appreciation as well."

Yang PeiMin almost laughed, suddenly feeling overwhelmed by an old-fashioned sort of sentimentality.

But he didn’t look the part at all.

She waved her hand dismissively: "It was a simple task, not worth mentioning."

Hao Qinghui stopped her, looking somewhat anxious, and said quickly, "It’s just a small gesture. I’ll play a piece on the harmonica for your class."

Yang PeiMin turned her head in surprise, "You have a harmonica?"

Hao Qinghui nodded, "I brought it from home. I’ve just been keeping it without taking it out, almost forgot about it. It was only after seeing the child who brought flowers that I remembered a song, which then reminded me of it."

Yang PeiMin nodded somewhat dazedly, okay, what else could she say?

However, she quickly remembered Shen Yiyue’s issue and hurriedly shared the young girl’s problem, "Mr. Hao, do you think you could help us out?"

Personal assistance was preferable to borrowing the instrument to play herself since a harmonica is as personal as a toothbrush, and if there was a choice, she would rather not step in herself.

Hao Qinghui agreed readily, but he also insisted on performing for her class.

With such a harmless matter at hand, Yang PeiMin did not push back and forth and readily agreed, "That sounds great, I’ll get the students ready to listen attentively."

Hao Qinghui flashed a bright smile. The bell for class rang. Glancing at the teachers emerging from the office, they too had just remembered they had lessons to teach and hurried back to grab their teaching materials and head to class.

After school, Yang PeiMin gave Hao Qinghui a heads-up before heading home to tell Shen Yiyue about it.

Shen Yiyue was very happy, "Sister-in-law, you’re really too kind. I was just wondering whom to ask for help."

Thus, a weight was lifted from her mind.

After dinner, Shen Yiyue took her notebook to Yang PeiMin’s room to discuss the performance event.

Yang PeiMin listened to her run through it and knew she couldn’t help much herself. This performance was already imbued with the sentiments of their group, whether perfect or not.

All she could do was help her streamline her thoughts and refine the details from there, checking for errors and omissions.

For the costumes, there was no choice but a standard military uniform.

They could only put more effort into the makeup.

Shen Yiyue was clearly delighted and repeated her thoughts over and over again.
