Daddy, You Got The Wrong Mommy-Chapter 62: Have Dad Pick Him Up
"Elly, is Bea sick?"
Outside the car, Evan Miles looked at Elara Don and asked.
This little one, not only was he cold to him, but he also ignored his daughter!
That’s not normal!
"Something happened yesterday, maybe he hasn’t recovered yet."
Elara Don also found it strange and explained with a smile.
"I heard a bit about what happened yesterday. How is it now? Did you find the child?"
Evan Miles straightened his expression and inquired.
Although the news was blocked, high society loves gossip, and someone will always reveal some insider news.
"The child is fine; it’s just unclear if the kidnappers have been caught."
Elara Don replied and got into the car.
"I wonder if the kidnappers were after the Hawke Family’s money."
Evan Miles got into the driver’s seat, fastened his seatbelt, and looked at Dominic Hawke, "It’s not a safe world, I should be the one to pick up and drop off Bea from school every day in the future."
He wants to pick him up and drop him off every day?
Is this his way of getting close to Aunt Charlotte?
Dominic Hawke clenched his fingers, his little mouth tightly shut.
He had to figure out a way to get Dad to pick him up from school!
"Evan, it’s not that serious. I’m not a rich person, and there aren’t that many bad people in the world."
Elara Don chuckled, playing with Claire Grant’s little hand.
"A single woman with a child, I can’t feel at ease. Better safe than sorry."
"What are you saying? Didn’t I live just fine abroad?"
"..."
Hospital.
Bea sat on the bed, blinking at the elders who came in.
Uncle Qin had brought the family photo albums.
He had been constantly filling him in on family matters.
So, he knew the few people who came in now.
The two older ones were his grandpa and grandma.
The younger one was his dad’s sister, his aunt.
"Oh dear, my precious grandson, let grandma see, does your head still hurt?"
Madam Hawke, full of heartache, sat on the edge of the bed, looking Bea over, her eyes red.
"Grandma, don’t be sad. Charlie’s head still hurts a bit, just blow on it, and it will be fine."
Bea patted Madam Hawke with his small hand, comforting her.
Madam Hawke was stunned, surprise and excitement flashing in her old eyes.
"Oh my, my little darling, grandma loves you the most!"
This child had some sort of enlightenment after a fall?
She remembered the little one being so quiet before, calling her grandma was something, let alone saying so much!
Behind her, Elder Hawthorne’s eyes also flashed with surprise.
He looked at Damon Hawke, slightly reproachful, "Damon, we only went out for a few days, how did such a big issue arise? I’ve heard plenty of rumors already, Damon, one must have a sense of responsibility."
The implication was that having Victoria Don as a fiancée, he shouldn’t flirt with other women.
And it almost harmed the child.
Damon Hawke said nothing, for no matter what he said, it wouldn’t make sense against their preconceived notions.
"Grandpa, don’t scold Dad, I’m in the hospital because those two bad people were too wicked!"
Bea interjected upon hearing Elder Hawthorne’s words, "Dad said I was brave and smart! I punished the bad guys with bugs!"
Elder Hawthorne’s eyes lit up, even more surprised.
"Charlie, do you like bugs now? Since when do you understand insects?"
Wasn’t this child indifferent to insects before?
Even if he inadvertently brought him to his insect lab, the child never seemed particularly interested!
"Hmm, I don’t remember, but I seem to like them now."
Bea blinked, his little head pondering.
"Alright, Grandpa has an insect lab, maybe tomorrow Grandpa will take you."
"Really? Grandpa, Grandma, I don’t like being in the hospital, can we go home now?"
"..."
The three of them chatted warmly, Vinny Hawke glanced at Damon Hawke, "Come out."
Damon Hawke said nothing and followed outside.
"Victoria Don told me everything! Damon, you’ve risked Charlie’s safety for a woman, a foster daughter without education or background, who also lacks self-respect, and now you want to break off the engagement with Victoria? What are you thinking?"
Vinny Hawke raised an eyebrow, her well-maintained face edged with sharp anger.
"Sis, are you focused on the wrong thing? Charlie’s accident wasn’t due to others, but the Don Family, perhaps even a scheme by Victoria. Such a ruthless woman willing to use her own son, should I really marry her?"
Damon Hawke unbuttoned one button at his chest, retorting.
"Damon, Victoria is Charlie’s biological mother, no matter how cruel, she wouldn’t harm her own child. If you’re trying to provide an excuse for Elara, this isn’t it!"
Vinny Hawke looked at Damon Hawke, her high-browed face full of disapproval.
"Sis, you don’t really know Victoria! Secretly she’s always hit and scolded Charlie behind my back. I think Charlie not being talkative has something to do with her as well."
Damon Hawke frowned, feeling a little irritated, but still explained softly.
"Damon, I’ll admit Victoria isn’t the warm, gentle type, but she can’t be as bad as you say."
Vinny Hawke paused, "There must be reasons for her disciplining the child. You can’t break off the engagement over this. A child needs a mother’s love; even the best stepmother isn’t quite like a real mother, do you understand?"
Something flickered in the woman’s eyes.
Damon Hawke had no mood to ponder, frowning, "Sis, I have my own way of handling things, don’t worry about it."
"How can I not worry about your matters?"
Vinny Hawke’s face was stern, "You were so sensible before, but now? I think Elara has you completely smitten!"
"Sis, you don’t even know Elara, you can’t be biased against her because of Victoria’s words."
Damon Hawke’s patience faded, "Enough, Mom and Dad aren’t interfering in my life, and you’re just my sister. Maybe you should spend more time thinking about your own life matters."
This sister of his never married, all her thoughts were centered on him.
She was tougher on him than even their parents since he was a child.
To an outsider, it seemed she was his real mother.
He respected her and took some advice from her as he grew older.
But in matters regarding Victoria, he will not compromise!
His sister should have her own social circle, she ought to get married!
Watching Damon Hawke stride back into the ward, Vinny Hawke’s hands clenched tightly at her sides.
Sister!
He resented her being too controlling!
But she clearly...
Vinny Hawke’s eyes reddened, composing herself, before taking out her phone and furiously sending a message.
"It’s all your fault!"
In the ward.
Madam Hawke was helping the little one change clothes.
Elder Hawthorne was on the phone.
Damon Hawke paused, quickly asking, "Dad, Mom, what are you...?"
"Damon, Charlie doesn’t want to stay in the hospital. We’re taking him back to the old house for a while; I’ve arranged with the medical team."
Elder Hawthorne hung up the phone, his face full of smiles.
Damon Hawke: "..."
These two elders, after Charlie’s fall, seemed to love him even more!
