Chapter 418: Chapter 418: She’s Still Breathing

"Who’s out there!"

Xena Walsh was startled, urgently pushing the man, "Go out quickly and see if someone’s eavesdropping outside!"

"Okay, I’ll go check."

The man also realized someone had been eavesdropping just now and quickly chased outside.

Serena Wells swiftly ran to the elevator, repeatedly pressing the button with a face full of anxiety.

She needed to get to the police station quickly and submit the recording in her hand.

This would clear Big Brother Evan’s name!

But before the elevator arrived, the man had already caught up.

"Stop right there, don’t run."

The man charged toward her in big strides.

Serena Wells was startled, glanced at the not-yet-arrived elevator, and had to run toward the stairwell.

"Stop."

The footsteps behind her were closing in; Serena Wells pushed open the stairwell door, biting her lip, and ran downstairs desperately.

Unable to run fast in high heels, she kicked them off and continued running down.

One floor, two floors, three floors...

The footsteps behind her grew closer and closer, the man relentlessly pursuing her.

Serena Wells was out of breath, tears welling up in her reddened eyes.

"Still trying to run."

At that moment, the man caught up with her and grabbed her in one quick motion.

"Let me go, let me go!"

Serena Wells struggled desperately.

But the man held her arm tightly, refusing to let go.

"It’s you? I recognize you, you’re Serena Wells!"

The man was also out of breath, recognized Serena Wells, and squeezed her arm even tighter, "Tell me, what did you hear just now?"

Unable to break free, Serena Wells furiously said, "I heard everything! You guys are framing Big Brother Evan, trying to extort his money, aren’t you? I also heard you questioning Xena Walsh. Are you a man? That Xena Walsh is clearly using you; she doesn’t love you at all, so why are you helping her?"

Hearing this, the man looked furious, "Shut up! My matters with Xena Walsh are none of your business! Did you just record? Hand over the phone!"

"No, let go, give me back the phone now!"

Seeing her phone taken by the man, Serena Wells hurriedly tried to snatch it back.

The man evaded her and tossed her aside.

They were standing at the stairwell’s corner.

The man’s strength was immense; Serena Wells took two steps back, slipped, and rolled down the stairs.

"Ah!"

Thud after thud echoed, the man raised his eyes to see Serena Wells rolling down to the next level, crashing her head against the wall, her body barely moving before becoming still.

The man stared blankly at the scene, his face gradually turning pale.

Is she dead?

At this moment, a phone rang abruptly, sounding especially jarring in the silent space.

The man’s hand trembled, and the phone in his hand fell to the ground.

He swallowed and hurriedly squatted down to pick up the phone.

It was Serena Wells’s phone ringing, displaying Amelia Miles’s name.

He quickly hung up the call and ran back upstairs.

Now that a life was involved, he had to leave here with Xena Walsh immediately!

Outside the hotel.

Amelia Miles got out of the car, glanced at the hung-up phone, and a hint of confusion flashed in her eyes.

Why didn’t Serena Wells answer the phone?

Where is she now?

"Elly."

Damon Hawke got out of a Bentley and walked towards her with long strides.

"Tom, did you also find out that Xena Walsh is here?"

Amelia Miles asked him.

"Yes, let’s go."

This was a hotel under the Hawke Group; Chase Quinn had just reported Xena Walsh’s whereabouts to him.

The two entered the hotel, and the manager had been waiting for some time.

He led the two upstairs to Xena Walsh’s room and knocked on the door.

They knocked for quite a while, but no one came to open it.

Damon Hawke grew impatient, signaling the manager to open the door with a room card.

Not daring to object, the manager quickly unlocked the door with a backup key card.

The room was empty, not a soul in sight.

"Tom, why is no one here? Did she realize we came to settle accounts and ran away?"

Amelia Miles looked around with a displeased expression.

"Don’t worry; let’s check the surveillance footage first."

Damon Hawke reassured her, then followed the manager to the surveillance room.

It didn’t take long for them to discover something.

The surveillance clearly captured the man chasing Serena Wells into the stairwell and then quickly exiting back through the stairwell into a room.

Following that, Xena Walsh and the man left the room one after the other, leaving via the elevator.

"Where’s Serena Wells? Where did she go?"

Amelia Miles noticed that Serena Wells hadn’t returned through the stairwell, her brows furrowing tightly.

"She might be in trouble; let’s check the stairwell."

Damon Hawke’s face darkened slightly, then pulled out his phone to call Chase Quinn.

"Chase, Xena Walsh has escaped; you need to send someone after her immediately."

After hanging up, he, Amelia Miles, and the manager headed over to the stairwell.

In the stairwell, they found Serena Wells lying in a pool of blood.

"Serena."

Amelia Miles widened her eyes, rushed to her side, and knelt down tremblingly to check her breathing.

"She’s still breathing; quick, take her to the hospital!"

...

Ru Townsend was on her way to an appointment when she received a call from Xena Walsh.

"What are you saying? Serena Wells came over? And she recorded something? What did she record?"

This idiot Xena Walsh, even after she had arranged everything, might still mess things up.

"I-I don’t know either, but I have her phone right now. Miss Townsend, what should I do now?"

Xena Walsh and the man sat in a taxi, faces full of panic.

"You’re asking me what to do? I’m not your mother; I have no obligation to clean up your mess."

Ru Townsend’s eyes flashed a bit of disdain, "Alright, your business has nothing to do with me; don’t call me again."

Such a stupid woman, even with a setup, she still manages to mess it up.

She’s truly a lost cause, only capable of dreaming up impossible scenarios.

Ru Townsend snorted coldly, without hesitation, blacklisted Xena Walsh’s phone number.

"Hello, Miss Townsend?"

On the other end, listening to the busy tone, Xena Walsh’s heart sank continuously.

She hung up and tried dialing back, only to find the number was no longer reachable.

"Why isn’t she answering? What does Ru Townsend mean by this?"

"It means we’ve become expendable to her."

The man’s face was very unpleasant as he quickly thought through the logic.

Ru Townsend intended to set up Benjamin Harper, using them to achieve her goal.

"She did it on purpose! She deliberately set me up!"

Xena realized she’d been played, pounding her chest in regret, full of remorse.

Just then, a black car swerved in front of the taxi, blocking its path.

Chase Quinn got out of the car...

At the hospital.

Serena Wells was rushed into the emergency room.

Damon Hawke stayed with Amelia Miles outside, waiting for news.

Thinking about Serena Wells, covered in blood and barely alive, Amelia Miles was filled with worry.

Please let her be alright.

Just then, Damon Hawke’s phone rang.

He pulled out his phone and glanced at it; it was Chase Quinn calling.

"Hello?"

"Boss, we’ve got them."

"Good, take them to the police station."
