Chapter 392: Chapter 392: Can’t Stand the Sight of Him

"Evan, go to the liquor cabinet and get a bottle of wine. Tonight’s a happy night, let’s have a few drinks."

Hunter brought the two little ones into the dining room and signaled Benjamin to fetch some wine.

"Okay."

Benjamin smiled warmly and went to the cabinet to get the wine.

Amelia sat down next to Dominic, playfully scolding, "Dad, your health isn’t good, you can’t drink."

"Haha, Elly, just a little. It’s good for circulation."

Hunter smiled somewhat ingratiatingly.

"Uncle Miles drinks this kind of wine, it doesn’t have much alcohol."

Benjamin brought over a few bottles and placed one in front of Hunter.

Hunter glanced at the wine, then at the other two bottles of foreign wine, feeling slightly dissatisfied.

"Evan, drinking wine with no alcohol content is like not drinking. I want to drink the wine in your hand."

"This wine is for me and Mr. Hawke."

Benjamin opened the bottle and poured wine for everyone.

"Dad, listen to Evan. Otherwise, you can drink milk."

Seeing that Hunter was about to say something, Amelia added.

Hunter didn’t dare to oppose his daughter and swallowed back his words sheepishly.

He glanced at Damon sitting beside him, feeling irked with nowhere to vent and the more he looked, the less he liked him.

"After all the twists and turns, you ended up as my son-in-law, you lucky punk."

Hearing this, Damon lightly curled his lips and raised his glass to him, "Thank you, Uncle Miles, for making it happen."

Hunter took a sip of wine, still with a face of disdain.

"When do you plan to marry Elly? Let me tell you, I only have one daughter. Once you’re married, she’ll have to live at both houses. Any problem?"

He had finally found his daughter again and wasn’t about to let those Hawke Family people just take his precious girl for free.

"No problem."

Damon glanced at Amelia, his gaze gentle.

Hunter heard his answer and felt slightly satisfied.

"I heard your mom used to have a bad attitude towards Elly. After Elly marries you, she won’t show her a hard face again, right?"

Vinny is also the pampered daughter of a prestigious family.

Protected too well by the Hawke family elders.

Though she faced major setbacks in her youth, her temperament is still as proud as ever.

Now that her past has been unveiled, it’s clear that Andrew will be the Hawke family’s son-in-law.

Your daughter marrying Damon means she’ll surely live with the Hawke Family in the future.

He certainly doesn’t wish for his daughter to face oppression from her mother-in-law after marrying into the Hawkes.

"She won’t. My mother said that Elly will be in charge of Hawke Family affairs in the future."

Damon calmly replied.

Hunter was somewhat surprised by this answer.

"Did she really say that or are you just trying to placate me?"

"Absolutely."

Damon maintained his composed demeanor.

Hunter raised his eyebrows and asked again, "A woman’s heart is like the bottom of the sea; what if your mom suddenly doesn’t like Elly one day and argues with her, whose side will you take?"

This question is as deadly as ’If your wife and mom both fall into the water, whom would you save.’

Damon found it amusing.

He glanced at Elara who seemed indifferent sitting there but noticeably slowed her actions serving the two little ones. After a pause, he said, "Elly is a good woman, I believe she will handle the mother-in-law relationship well. If my mom truly acts unreasonably one day, I would take Elly back to her parents’ home to stay, and I’ll be the live-in son-in-law."

Shouldn’t this answer be satisfactory?

Could his father-in-law let him off the hook now?

In the future, heaven and earth may be massive, but my wife is the biggest!

"You sure know how to talk."

Hunter said meaningfully.

Praising the wife first, saying she has strong organizational skills.

Thus, even if there’s truly some conflict between in-laws, as the daughter-in-law she will tolerate it.

Then he stated his own stance clearly.

What does it mean for his mother to be truly unreasonable?

What’s this definition?

Is he subtly siding with his mother?

But with the last statement, he declares that ultimately he’s on his wife’s side.

Speaking of Damon, he’s quite a schemer.

"I’m going to take that as you praising me, father-in-law."

Damon clinked his glass with Hunter’s again, maintaining his composure.

"Haha, was I praising you? Don’t get carried away just because I gave you a little color."

"Your teaching is valuable, any advice I’ll surely heed."

"Sweet words hiding a dagger, I’m warning you, after marriage you must be a husband worthy of twenty-four filial pieties. If you dare upset my daughter, I’ll ensure you two dare to divorce."

"I wouldn’t dare."

"Alright, dad, the food’s getting cold. Don’t just focus on drinking, eat something."

"Grandpa, eat your food."

"Oh dear, my two grandkids are the best."

"..."

Seeing the group enjoying themselves, Benjamin curved his lips, feeling a bit envious.

Envious of Damon’s good fortune, being able to marry the woman he cherishes.

More food was added to his bowl, Benjamin turned his head to see Amelia smiling at him.

"Evan, when are you going to bring a sister-in-law back for me?"

Benjamin quirked his lips, "I’m currently very popular. Romance means unemployment. I don’t want to be society’s burden." 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

This statement was just too playful.

Amelia chuckled.

She knew he wasn’t wrong.

Benjamin is at the top now. Although today’s fans aren’t as restrictive about their idols dating and marrying as before, being single makes an idol more attractive.

So Benjamin, wanting to continue in showbiz, really needs to be cautious about romance.

"Oh, it seems this wish will take a long time to fulfill."

Amelia looked regretful, "But don’t worry, Evan. I’ll secretly look for good girls for you. If you like someone, just secretly date. You can follow others and have a hidden marriage."

"Elly, you want to experience matchmaking joy while alive?"

Benjamin smiled helplessly.

"Hey, I want to be your only matchmaker."

"Then I’m truly honored."

Chatting and laughing, Damon quietly sipped his wine, feeling a bit jealous.

He didn’t want his wife to get close to any man other than himself.

The only matchmaker?

Why does that sound so awkward?

Is this an indication that Benjamin is important to her?

Not pleased!

During the jokes, Benjamin keenly noticed the glance Damon threw his way.

With a hint of displeasure.

What does he have to be unhappy about?

Doesn’t he realize how much others envy him?

Benjamin sighed internally, raised his glass towards Damon, "Mr. Hawke, should I start calling you brother-in-law from now on? I toast to you."

Brother-in-law?

This title sounds more agreeable.

Damon’s eyes moved slightly, and the displeasure in his heart eased a bit.

He clinked glasses with Benjamin, and just as they were about to down the drink, Benjamin’s phone rang.

"Excuse me."

Benjamin said to Damon, placed his wineglass down, and glanced at the incoming call.

It’s from Serena.

"Annie, what’s up?"

"Brother Ben, c-can you come to the hospital? My mom was in a car accident, I’m a bit scared alone."
